Due to management, I have not been able to sleep through the night for almost an entire year. Despite multiple calls, texts, emails, and office visits in regards to resolving a disruptive neighbor, not a single thing has been resolved. Management pushed and made it my own issue to deal with time and time again. I have never been treated with such distain and dismissiveness in my entire life, especially by a management company. The constant stomping and shaking off the walls throughout the day/night for a year has left me absolutely hopeless. My health has greatly suffered due to this. Many nights I have had to leave to stay elsewhere due to the constant noise. If you value quality of life, I would never recommend to live here. Which is unfortunate because the facility is beautiful and clean, however management could not care less about you. Would not recommend living here to my worst enemy, and cannot wait for my lease to be up. I do not leave negative reviews. Please, think twice before renting here. read more

ROACHES GALORE. Hornet heaven. I've seen the most diverse collection of bugs here than the Smithsonian in DC. Mold on the outside doors (front doors of units). Expired inspection certificates on elevators. Half of the lighting in the hallways don't work so it looks like Halloween all year round. This building has serious issues and it seems like they are dragging their feet by working on smaller issues or ignoring problems. Everyone who I've spoken to who has lived here when the place was managed by Greystar (infamous for being borderline slumlords) has said that they had NO PROBLEMS but now, forget about it. I realized I made a mistake by moving in within 24 hours when the biggest roach I've seen in my life hitched a ride in my apartment, after being assured during my tour that pests weren't a problem. Speaking of the tour, we drove 8 hours from DC to take a tour of this dump, our desired unit wasn't ready yet so we were showed a model, which isn't a problem but we were only showed the amenities attached to the leasing office, then were handed a map to go explore the grounds ourselves. Thought that was strange, should have seen the red flag. After signing the lease we were then given an apartment that was busted up (broken doors, non working features, flooding toilet, broken cabinet shelves, etc) I've seen a leasing agent yell at a resident from their balcony on an upper level like they were yelling at a child...about a puppy breaking free from their leash. WOW. There's a valet trash service here that residents get penalized (notice of a fee on their door) for not bringing the receptacle in by a certain time, but it doesn't apply to leasing agents. I've seen them leave their trash can out multiple times and not a letter in sight. They also put a lock on the recycling area, as a response to the overflowing use of the area. If you see the lock, whatever you have goes in the trash compactor, recyclable or not. There are rules about guest visiting your apartment (max length: 14 days) yet again, guest have stayed for 4 weeks. Really nice guest but just the same, how are they above the rules they enforce? How leasing handled COVID by telling people to move out if they couldn't afford their rent due to loss of work...and then still have to pay their rent?! That's a whole thing in itself. Had to reach out to upper management to find any type of flexibility. Never had been a delinquent tenant in my life, even paid rent months in advance. The TURNOVER here is crazy. Every week someone is moving in or out. It's not even that many units. I've seen people move in after me and leave before me, and so far none are active duty military. This would be zero stars if it wasn't for the hard working maintenance crew that bust their buns to keep this place from falling completely to the ground (they should get 5 stars on their own). Now that I am out and settled in new home I can write an honest review. While Greystar owned it there was zero issues at all with the place. Maintenance was spot on and the office was amazing. PRG took over and I had read some reviews on other places but chalked it up to apartment issues - it is shared space and living in close quarters. For what the rent is and continues to be the service is not up there where it should be. The first couple were hell with the fire alarm checks and having to be home due to inspections. If I was working at home that day it was non issue but if it was an office day I would have to take my dog to an alternative place since he isn't keen on people he doesn't know. I left a check for the cleaning when I moved out. They never cashed it and I got my closing statement with the cleaning fee added. I had to dig through bank record to make sure they didn't cash that check. I will pay the bill but they should have followed through. Get it together read more

I am giving them just one star based on the outrageous amount of rent we pay to live in this dump. On Feb. 14th PRG Realestate took over & it has been an absolute $#!+ Show ever since. I am changing my Review to a 3 star. Although it is not the worst place I've lived, it is NOT worth what we are paying & it continues to go steadily go down hill since change of Ownership. They are using old pictures to advertise, the Property's Maintenance has been so poor there is Trash & Filth everywhere & the Management doesn't take nearly the care that Greystar did. The pool does NOT have near the chairs or umbrellas it did. We used to have fun events at the Club house regularly, with complimentary food, treats, food, refreshments & activities, such as materials for making cards for special occasions or gift wrapping... Now we barely have coffee & when we do, it's poor quality. The property's buildings & Landscape was well maintained, regularly pressured washed & the people they rented to treated it better. Now it is not as clean. I see garbage around parking lot, cigarette butts, dog $#!+, the elevators & walk ways smell like dog urine. Since we our signed our lease with another company we are paying more than many moving in now, that reflects on the type of neighbors you have. Also by them lowering the rent, it shows that Owners & Renters don't feel it is worth what it was when we signed. I would NOT recommend these apartments. It is not the "Resort Living" we signed up for. My review BEFORE NEW Ownership"This was a great transition for us with a new baby. It is new, spacious, they keep the pool & workout room clean. The Amenity Center/Club House is open 24-7, has tons of room for guests with games & is comfy & artsy. They have fun themed get togethers for Residences often & weekly Food Trucks that come by. Maintenance is on the ball. Garbage disposal went out last night & they were here bright & early this morning with a new one installed in minuets, along with any other issues we've had. My only complaint is noise insulation, we can hear every step, among other things.. our upstairs neighbors make. Day & Night difference! read more

This is without a doubt the best luxury apartment living in Charleston. I looked at 5 different properties and it was a hands down clear choice to choose Proximity as my place to call home. Amazing amenities, spacious upscale apartments! I feel like I am living in a penthouse! The absolute best part of my experience is the staff....from leasing office to the maintenance guys...I mean WOW.....extremely friendly, professional, great at what they do, and treat you like family. I've been living at Proximity for about a year now and love this place. The location and the staff are amazing. They help when issues are brought up and work their best to get things resolved right away. It is apartment living so you will hear your neighbors but nothing out of the ordinary that I haven't heard at another apartment community. I cannot see myself moving from here anytime soon. They just updated their dog park and it is amazing!!! read more

Proximity Apartments is a lovely community with dedicated staff available to address any issues-we've had minimal! We've been fortunate with rapid response when needed like when our dryer was running too loud, lol or when I needed a bulb changed cuz I was too short! Quiet and clean-great neighbors too! read more

My husband and I are really enjoying our living experience at Proximity! We've been very pleased with the services received - from our first visit to the leasing office when we were apartment searching, to our move-in during a hurricane and everything since. From the moment we arrived, we have loved the small community feel that the complex has (only 9 buildings). The amenities such as the club house, gym and pool are very nice and well taken care of. The ladies who work in the leasing office have always been very pleasant to deal with and accommodating in any way they can be. The units are tastefully finished with stainless steel appliances, plenty of cabinet space, hardwood floors, and a screened-in porch. We have had a few minor maintenance issues (A/C and drain clog) that were very quickly resolved. The location is very convenient with Harris Teeter, Walmart and a gas station all within walking distance. It's also very convenient for us to get to downtown in 20 minutes and beaches in about 30 minutes. Thanks to the Proximity staff for a great overall experience! read more
