My wife had shrimp tossed in pasta, and I had a crusted filet of fish over risotto, and both were excellent. Service is prompt and cordial. Very little English spoken, but the menus have English translations. Wine & beer served. Of the two (this one and Bartholomeu), we preferred the latter -- but if you have two nights in town I would definitely suggest trying them both; can't go wrong with either one. Brazilians dine relatively late, so if you arrive at either one in the 6:00-to-7:00 range there is no need for reservations.

It's a bit pricey for Brazil but it is justifiable because of the quality and variety. Most places only have a handful of varieties for pastel fillings. This place has at leas 30. I get shredded beef and cream cheese, guava and cheese, octopus pastel, muscles and creamy sauce, chocolate and strawberry... and the list goes on. The service could be just a tad bit better but it is laid back and the ambiance relaxed and chill. I also either get a local beer or a caipirinha when I am here. They have 2 locations. One is downtown Angra dos Reis and the other is outside of town headed toward Paraty. I go to the one outside of town a lot. Both locations are near the ocean and there are a lot of beaches nearby. We walked all the way down the beach, and thus, this was our last stop before heading back to the main town. I wish we had discovered it earlier! The cachaca flamed fish was incredible. And the Jorge Amado cocktail was likewise delicious. The location is perfect with a picturesque view of the bay. Service is also great, and you can use their beach chairs for free if you order drinks.
