It's Public Storage so manage your expectations. Place seems clean, does get busy, but really not bad for a storage place. My main gripes are sometimes people leave the carts somewhere mane their unit so when you go to drop/take stuff there are no carts. Annoying but not the end of the world. Wish employees would find the carts and put them back but also wish people were better about putting them back themselves. Also wish it didn't cost so much. I have neighbors in my community who have left due to the ever increasing prices. Start at $99 and a year later it's over $200. read more

I'm not sure how other locations are but the Sylmar location off yarnell has the worst customer service. Edna is by far the most unpleasant, rude and lacks any service skills and shouldn't be in the position she is in. There's rarely anyone there in the office on a regular basis. you can wait hours and still no one in the office. What they don't tell or have a sign on the door is that you need to call and make an appointment to physically see someone. Bottom line, your storage items should be safe but beware that after a few months of rental the rent will increase by at least 40% without any notice and to remedy any extra fees is difficult because there's never anyone at the location. read more

One of the worst storage facilities I've ever dealt with. I was helping my sister move some items into her storage unit here and we were running a bit late in the day. When we arrived at around 4:15 p.m. we were told that we had to be off the property by 5:00 p.m. because the power would be turned off for the gates and the freight elevator. As we tried to enter the gate, our gate code didn't work and we needed assistance, causing further delays. There is a sign that says to text for gate assistance. As we were about to do that, an employee came out and said "that doesn't work." Um... OK. Begs the question of why that sign exists then. We managed to get the gate code straightened out and scrambled to offload our stuff, but weren't able to do get it all out within the limited amount of time available. So I came the next morning to bring some items. The signs say gate access opens at 6:00 a.m. but, once again, the gate code didn't work! When I punched my code in, a brief message flashed on the screen telling me to call a 1-800 number for after-hours access information. I tried calling the number and got hung up on multiple times before I could even enter the phone information associated withthe account. And EVEN AFTER ENTERING THE PHONE NUMBER on the account, the system still hung up on me! The office hours listed on their website say the office is open from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. so I waited for a staffer to arrive... and waited... and no one showed up to open the office! There was a phone number on the front door of the office so I called that. Again, another automated system which only offered the option to have the gate code sent as a text. I selected that option, a text was sent to my sister, and there was NO CODE information in the text - just a layout map of the storage building! Meanwhile, no employee(s) showed up to open the office at the posted time. As I write this, it is 10:30 a.m. - one hour after the posted business for the office - and there are no employees, no way to access the unit, and no recourse to anything but an automated system that hangs up on every call! I have been here for nearly 2 hours trying to figure out a way to get into this gate and unit and have not found a solution - despite having a gate code that worked the day before! There's even a gate technician who pulled up and he can't reach an employee! The only reason I'm giving this review 2 stars is because Rafael stayed after hours to assist my sister, and allow AAA to tow her vehicle, when her car broke down on the property. read more

Warning: please do not ever rent from Public Storage as they are the worst storage facility known to man! After many years of renting Their largest unit with Climate control I am looking for some where better to Rent! When paying their highest rent amount you would think they wouldnt be so cheap to keep the Climate control at the correct settings.. Climate control is not the same as AC and with climate control they guarantee you that the temperature will remain anywhere from 78° and never go above 80°. Well, that is a lie because several times the temp has been above 80° and high temps is not good for the items stored inside my unit! Complaining always fell on deaf ears until recently its a little better but their climate control is not consistent and when you are paying a lot for a unit that guarantees a certain climate then it should be consistent always unless a major storm occurs. After the whole climate control mess, they have raised my rent several times when others for the same unit size are paying much less... After several complaints and paying the over priced unit for more then a year, they had to investigate it and after literally a year of complaining off and on they review all the cheaper units and lowered my rent to match those giving me a $90 lowered rent... So, during the time I was saying its not the correct rent, they been charging me that extra $90 for a long time! Thats a legal scam with some Rental facilities like Public Storage. Now, after a year if arguing about rent it is now matched to the same units that cost much less! This is also there regular price they lowered it to and not a promo price, so they were ripping me off! Now, here is the Cherry on Top... Recently, Public Storage thinks its a good decision to cut customers Access time to enter their units from 9pm to now 6pm on weekdays and 5pm weekends... REALLY, charge the same Rent to customers with no adjustments, but go from a 9pm access time to now be allowed to access either until 5 or 6pm is straight garbage.. If they cut times to access the unit in half then they should cut the Rent in half as well for not allowing customers to access it with the same time before the times were changed. They say cutting the time to close at 6 will make it safer and that is such a garbage answer from greedy, lazy executives making this stupid decision and should be fired instead! Hire security crew instead with all the rent money you are making big bux and can afford a few more workers! Tell me, when there location never had any break ins and is in a good area why they would close access to enter our units after 6pm? There are better solutions then just closing access to our units early when we are paying almost as much as a studio apartment.. (No Joke) Meanwhile, right down the road the other Public Storage is still opened to 9pm They offered if I want to move, but that facility has no Climate control and really, move a 5 bed room storage to another location instead of just staying with your old 9pm time. The headache that will be and I rather save some more money to buy a 2 bedroom home and use the second room as a storage then have to move it all to another unit when the unit I have is where I want to keep it until I am able to get a home. Many people work until 5pm and the difficulty to get to my unit by 6pm during rush hour is crazy.. There are times I need to access my unit often and I need to access it during the week after work, but with their new closing time to access the unit is horrible! If you need to access your unit at 7pm or 6:01 pm, you will not be allowed to... So charge the same rent, cut our access time and expect customers to suck it up... Well, guess what Public Storage, you are the ones up in the exec office that suck and I hope your business goes under from not caring what the paying customers want.. Give us access to our units that we pay a lot for And closing at 6pm is not the answer! Also, any issues you may encounter there corporate number will always point the finger back at the regional manager and vice versa.. Can Million/Billion dollar companies please actually do good work and not be LEGAL Shysters!! Thanks! Public Storage You suck... We want later access to our units and not less. Even though I am a long term renter my rent increased 67%, from $155 to $259 per month, in less than 3 years!!! My first increase of 10% was within six months of my move in date, however my last notice informed me my rent will go up a whopping 37%, from $188 to $259 per month since my last increase six months ago!!! You would think they would give long term renters a break so BEWARE, once you are in they think you won't move out so they can and will significantly raise your rate. Fred and the team here at this facility helped from day 1 when I booked online. Fred was friendly, helpful and professional. A welcome breeze during a stressful moving process. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking to have a welcome place to temporarily keep your things. I rented an indoor climate controlled unit and it was clean and well lit. Only thing I would like to see change is if Public Storage could look into having the rear doors repaired so they can be left open on their own. Ive been renting this storage for 4 years. $120 a month and my debit card expires. I'm notified the following month that i owe 2 months worth. The same week I'm notified i go down there to clear my 2 items out of storage and they forbid me to come in untill the balance is paid. i moved to the central coast 2 years ago. Apparently, 4 years of no late payment means nothing because they put my stuff on lean and were going to open up my locker on top of tacking on additional chargers in order to take my stuff out. That is horsesh*t, no loyalty. they only want your money and no nothing about customer care. Needless to say, i cleared my storage and will never do business with them again! Run Now!
