This food is so tasty. I was skeptical at first because their prices are significantly cheaper than other Colombian restaurants in chicago- at least the ones i have eaten from. And so my first thought was "cheaper prices, cheaper ingredients". And tbh, the pics of the food doesn't look as welcoming as other restaurants that serve similar dishes. My assumptions were not correct. By far the best Colombian food I have had in Chicago, and I've had a lot! No wonder they are only open 2-3 days out of the week.... I've only had delivery, so I can't speak to the dining services. But I've gotten delivery at least 5 times since I first tried them about 2 months ago. First time to this Colombian restaurant & bar to watch the Copa America final with Colombia against Argentina. We were treated like royalty here from the moment we walked in and they were able to give our large group a big table for 8! The aesthetic in here is also extremely fun and cute as well. Lots of Colombian paraphernalia all around to see with plenty of colors that makes this place so special and unique from other restaurants in this area (and even Chicago as a whole). My partner and I ordered a Picada plate which is huge and fed the both of us with plenty of leftovers. They were definitely a little heavier on the meat, and we were hoping for a balance of more sausage and chicharrón. However, for the price point, you really can't beat it. We ordered some empanadas as well with us both preferring the carne instead of the pollo. I did find the carne one to be a little too salty however. The Ají was great! They have a handful of TVs all around the place - some older than others - however they have the speakers above blasting music and the big games which make it a good environment to come for these big events! They have plenty of aguardiente as well as Águila available. I know the night we came they had no Club Colombia or any other Colombian beer unfortunately. I saw Modelo and Corona however. Definitely recommend this place to others and will need to come back and try more food! read more

This was such a fun place to watch the Copa final. We came here with a group of 10 and the energy of the restaurant was great. They played great music and everyone there was having a great time. The decoration was from floor to ceiling and you can tell there was a lot of thought put into it. The restaurant was service was attentive and they made sure to check in on us whenever we needed a refill on buckets of alcohol or to order more food. We ordered the empanada de carne, empanada de pollo and picada pueblito. The empanadas were yummy and came with the aji which made it chefs kiss. The picada pueblito was meant for two people but can totally feed 3-4 people depending on how much you eat. We definitely had leftovers of that. It was an abundance of meat, cassava, sausages, arepas, tomatoes. The perfect bite was the chicharron, a piece of tomatoes and a squeeze of limes over it. 10/10 read more

We celebrated my daughter's birthday at Pueblito Viejo this past Friday. They don't take reservations but do encourage you to arrive early to snag a table big enough for your party. We got there at six pm with half our party and were seated right away. We ordered drinks and apps until the rest of our party arrived. Carlos was our server and he provided us with great service all night long. He recommended a few dishes and told us about the Special Birthday song which we added to our experience. We enjoyed a night of delicious food, drinks and dancing! Come here to celebrate an occasion or just a night out with friends. This was my first time trying Colombian food! Ever since Encanto came out, I've been craving one of those delicious looking Arepas! Upon walking in, you're met with basically a fiesta bursting with color and music. There's tons of different colored lighting. It was almost a mix between a club and a restaurant but a lot smaller than you would imagine. There's a small dance floor in the middle of the restaurant. There are beautiful flowers and plants hanging from the ceiling. Every single sense was stimulated during my time here! For appetizers, we got the Arepa con Chicharron ($7, Arepa served with crispy pork belly rinds) and Arepa Frita ($5, Fried arepa stuffed with Colombian white cheese). My personal favorite was the regular Frita. I wish it had a tad bit more flavor though as I felt it was a little bland. Still very delicious. Especially when it's fresh and warm. For entrees, we ordered the Carne Asada con Arroz, Arepa y Papa Salada ($22, Grilled 'outside-skirt steak' with rice, arepa and salted boiled potato), It is definitely big enough to share! I split this with my sister. The steak was absolutely amazing and perfectly tender and seasoned well. I think my only note is that I wish I had more than a slice of tomato and lime to lighten up the dish. Perhaps a side of vegetables that would come with would do the trick. It just felt a little heavy. Still, it was very yummy and for the price, not bad at all considering that it's a huge portion. Service was excellent. They managed our big party with ease and kindness. Our party was never rushed even though there was a line out the door when we left.The only thing is that we had quite a few items missing on our dishes. And since they tried to bring everything at once, I did notice that our food just seemed a tad bit cold and not super fresh. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my experience at Pueblito Viejo! As a starter we had empanadas they have a nice flavor and good consistency to them. I really enjoyed the chicken empanada. For the entree I ordered the Carne Asada Con Arroz y Arepa. No reservations taken so you'll have to leave your name on deck -- came with a party of 6 at 7pm on a Saturday and had 60-90min wait - reasonable tbh. So here's where I had to take a single star away. I really enjoy this place and my friends had a great time, but the food is just okay? Like nothing wrong with it, but the snapper was just alright -- friends had ordered the skirt steak combo I believe and that was just alright too. Plating was lovely but that was the extent of it. First time coming here and it was a fun dinner. I highly recommend coming in before 9PM as it tends to get packed on the weekends. There's a mini dance floor playing both new and old Spanish songs with a few risk takers dancing. We ordered the a beef stew and the steak dinner. Both were amazing!! The potatoes and beef were so soft in the stew and the broth was flavorful. I normally don't like broth but this was amazing and I kept smothering it over my steak dinner. Didn't get to try the drinks but neighbors were ordering all kinds of fun drinks. The decor was my favorite part of coming here. Faux flowers all over the ceiling and all types of cute Colombian items (hats, bananas, Keyes, book bags, keys) definitely found my eyes wandering every corner.
