Our outdoor activities are a feature to visitors coming to Oban - for people that have been diving for years or are new to the water activity scene! Teaching skills above and below the water, PDC is a certified RYA Training Centre - An RYA training centre is an accredited sailing school We hold the highest membership level with PADI "Professional Association of Diving Instructors", which is the principal organisation providing training and certification to SCUBA diving instructors worldwide. As a PADI 5* IDC & Career Development centre we are recognised as one of the highest-level diver training centres world-wide, able to offer courses from Beginner to Instructor Trainer. Puffin has a long history with a constant level of input and dedication which has resulted in numerous awards and recognition.

      This island is absolutely beautiful, well worth a visit. You can stay there (there's some hotels…read moreand B&Bs on the island) or you can stay on Mull and go over on the ferry for a few hours - or you can do a day bus tour from Oban on the mainland. Personally I'd recommend spending longer there than the folk on the bus tour get - and it also means you can get it quieter, because to experience the true beauty of Iona you need to experience the peace. The beaches are just gorgeous - and as for the colour of the sea, well it's aquamarine, and navy, and turquoise, and . it's just stunning. The nunnery is worth a visit - and the Abbey is a must. Don't miss the Graveyard of the Kings either (where John Smith, ex Labour leader is also buried). Iona is a beautiful place - and I guarantee once you visit you will want to return.

      16 miles south of Oban, this remote and beautiful sea loch is well worth a visit…read more It's a wonderful place for hill walking and cycling. There are peaceful beaches to stroll along too and a few restaurants, hotels and pubs not far away. This is an area of stunning natural beauty, teeming with wildlife sometimes you'll see otters, seals and porpoises swimming in the loch. Perfect for birdwatching too. There are wonderful views from the top of the surrounding hills over the Sound of Jura and many small islands. Highly recommended! From Oban you'll need the A816 south to Kilmelford. Then turn right to Degnish for nearly 2 miles. there are signs for Melfort Pier and Harbour.

      We stopped here on a slightly rainy day, there was ample parking (no other cars) and a nice grass…read morearea with toilets and picnic tables. There are several walks to choose from, we opted for the coastal path to Tobermory. The views of Tobermory as you approach are stunning, then there is a large pub right at the end of the walk on the edge of Tobermory with a large beer garden to the front for some well deserved refreshments.

      The Aros Park is a foresty commission park on the outskirts of Tobermory. There are various…read moredifferent trails through the park, including one which starts in Tobermory and has stunning views of Calve Island and back to Tobermory. There's also a small loch in the park, with a path around it - and it's stocked with fish. There's much plant and bird life - we saw a huge variety of wildflowers, and saw and heard many birds including a cuckoo and a woodpecker. If you don't want to walk from Tobermory, there's a car park with ample parking and a good sign with a map, and a supply of small map leaflets showing all the trails for visitors to take. There's also a 'barbecue area' which we didn't use - but plan to use next time we go back. Hopefully the smoke from the barbecue will keep away the dreaded midgies!

It is a narrow loch, seven miles long, which is surrounded by steeply banked forests and rugged mountain scenery. It has supplied Dunoon with its drinking water since the 1970s. It's fascinating to find that Loch Eck was once joined to the Clyde (via the Holy Loch) 14,000 years ago! My photos were all taken at Jubilee Point beside the A815 on the east bank, which is a great place to stop for a picnic and to admire the lovely scenery.
