With the new menu we thought we'd give them another chance and glad we did! We had a roast yesterday and it was delicious - lots of vegetables, loads of meat and a nice option for my vegetarian husband. We shared a pudding (brownie and honeycombe ice cream) and it was one of the nicest things ever! I wanted another one immediately but controlled myself :) Lovely staff and good table service. Would 100% recommend!

And by freezing I mean sleep-with-your-head-under-the-covers-so-your-breath- can-keep-you-warm kind of freezing. Yeah, seriously, that cold! The shower pressure was divine but the FIFTEEN POUND charge for 24 hours of the internets (yes, the internets) was definitely not. Luckily I found a last minute same day rate via HotelTonight for £115 at the Old Ship. I can't complain too much as my rate was cheap, but I could never imagine anyone paying £275 (the rate on expedia) for the Old Ship. It's a definite 2-star establishment badly in need of refurbishment. The hotel website and signage claims 4-stars but that is only because they offer an on-site bar/restaurant with room service or else they made up that rating themselves. The carpets were quite soiled both in the hallways and the room. The water pressure in the small stall shower was ok, but the shower head was damaged and it leaked everywhere. My room was reasonably quiet and cool despite no air conditioning (it had a operable window and a ceiling fan) and rather high (27C) day-time temps! The hotel is rather large, with an odd layout, expect to take a small dirty lift up to your floor and then navigate up and down steps, opening countless fire doors along the way. The halls were grotty and need to be cleaned if not completely redone. Location is quite good, a stone's throw from the Brighton Pier and easy access to the beach and all the restaurants and shops of the coastal city. Some of the rooms should have pretty spectacular views. Wifi was free but capped at 516K speeds---basically dial-up speeds. This is 2013, not 1998, seriously Old Ship, upgrade your infrastructure to the times. I do not recommend the Old Ship until it is majorly redone...it's shocking that they try to charge £275 for this place!

Never knew that was even possible, but I guess certain countries aren't associated with Yelp. Either, I'm back in London, so I can start again! This is a pretty decent hotel located near the Gatwick airport, so if you're only staying in the Gatwick area, then this place is perfect. The rooms are huge and the price is lower. There is also a pool and a gym. What's weird is that the rooms don't have AC. There is a portable fan, and air comes out of the ventilation, but it's not really cool. Still, this is a pretty nice hotel, especially somewhat close to London. Overall, a big thumbs up from me!

And English breakfast was better than some restaurants that I had traditional English breakfast and it was delicious . I wish I can give it six dollars because it was so good everything about it was wonderful on the bed to the linens to the table settings everything. A must stop in Brighton.
