Burgers By The Butcher was easily the best burger I had during my 4th of July trip to San Antonio. The must-try item is the Wagyu burger, it delivered exactly what you hope for from a great burger: incredible flavor, quality ingredients, and a perfectly cooked patty. The staff was another highlight. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful, which made the entire experience even better. The fries deserve a special mention as well. The amount you get for $5 is next level and one of the best values I came across during my trip. Burgers By The Butcher has officially earned a spot on my San Antonio food list. I was so hyped to find out about this market and grocery store, and especially about all the food options. The store itself is very cute with different sections, seating areas, food vendors to select from, and connects to actual restaurants. The mediocre review is for the "Burgers by the Butcher" place towards the end of the store. The Wagyu burger sounded really good and had good reviews, but it was really dry and not very flavorful. Usually Wagyu is known to be juicy and moist, but this tasted nothing like that caliber. It was disappointing but at least not very pricy. Fries were okay but pretty chopped up and not the style I prefer. Some of the other places looked promising like the ice cream and cafe. The poke/ceviche also sounded good on paper but when we walked by (maybe around 1.5-2 hours before closing), the quality of the raw fish didn't look too great and was a little discolored so we passed. Avoided due to anticipated problems with parking. Pearl is so filled with affected and editorial instagram locals in some sort of daily cosplay of care free affluence when in fact many are broke as hell. There are others mainly business class or tourists but they stay at Hotel Emma and definitely have money, or their employer's corporate card. Then there are the real carb eating customers who are there to actually consume goods. I finally had a free weekday to go to Pullnam now two years after they opened and loved my experience. Parking in the Pullman market was easy. It really is $0 with validation and for up to 2 hours. I was looking for ground flax, they only had whole. Looking for cinnamon infused honey, they did not have. Just weird shit like lavender infused. I enjoyed the elevated feel of the place, very transporting and nicely curated with so many spaces in and out doors to sit and people watch or just hang out with friends. In my opinion this is a great market for people living around the Pearl. For a visitor it is a bit complicated with the parking and shopping. One of the times I decided to go get meat and fish I got distracted and ended up scrolling around the Pearl. I have tried couple of the restaurants and was not impressed either. Love browsing this place so much! We've visited a few times over the last year and always have a fun time looking around. We've purchased coffee, some little gifty items like a mug and card, and snacks. They have so much great fresh produce and locally produced items, but we never are on the way home to Austin after visiting here. I have gone to the pizza restaurant, Mezquite, and Isadore - all located in the market. This is a fun place to walk around and they even had a dj the one day I was there. Pullman Market is a foodie gem located just north of downtown San Antonio. Artsy, great lighting, and filled with locally crafted goods. There are multiple Michelin star restaurants as well as more casual options in this comfortable complex, as well as the grocery market itself. The Pullman concierge is a friendly asset to the Market and has personally made me feel welcome each time I visit. I like the open concept and inviting indoor/outdoor seating options. Wish there was a bit more variety in the bakery section, but overall it's a nice place to eat, relax and maybe learn a bit about the namesake Pullman cars while you're at it. read more

While the Pearl District has so many fantastic restaurants, the Pullman offers shoppers the opportunity to enjoy both casual and fine dining experiences. While weaving hour way through the market, you will have your choice of a pizzeria, burger joint, cocktail bar, ice cream parlor, & coffee shop. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience, you should consider having dinner at ISIDORE, a Michelin star restaurant! The butcher counter offers excellent customer service and while not a huge selection, the quality is very good. I would love to see more options, especially marinaded or ready to cook meals. So far the cheese counter selections have been disappointing so we will continue to get our cheese for homemade pizza & charcuterie boards at Otto's in NB! But I do hope that the options will improve with customer feedback since they also have a fresh pasta counter. Next time, I would like to try the freshly made tortillas and enjoy a slice of sourdough pizza at FIFE & FARRO! Honestly the only major of the drawback of the Pullman is that the market is always so crowded! For a newly designed concept, it seems like traffic flow and large crowds were left out of the design process. And I don't understand why the music is so loud that you cannot hear when trying to make purchases. Oh and a final note - the parking lot is very small and has time limits that are strictly enforced. I was first introduced to the Pullman market by a very friendly local San Antonian whom I bumped into on the Riverwalk in the summer of 2024. This time round, I explored the Pullman market. There were a handful of interesting restaurants and bars inside. I checked out the fish, seafood, bakery, groceries, restrooms, etc. Much as I was wowed by the quality of the venue, food and concept, I didn't come out buying anything unlike at Whole Foods Market or Central Market or HEB. However, it's such a nice place to stroll through and check out. I believe I would try the restaurants inside if the opportunity presented itself. Maybe grab ice cream, soda, a sandwich, wrap, specialty items etc. There is a type of clientele for this place. Just bring your wallet. read more

I have been wanting to see what the Pullman market had to offer. It is located at the Pearl and has a variety of items to choose from. When you walk it has a nice spacious feel to it. There are different sections that showcase the products. I liked their pasta section and towards the back it looks like there is a nice restaurant. Awesome spot and a great addition to The Pearl! We went to the Pullman Market for lunch. My buffalo chicken salad was delicious. The broccoli and chicken for the salad were freshly grilled and it was presented beautifully. Others had the ceviche and poke bowls, sandwiches and breakfast tacos. Everything was excellent. Coworkers kept raving about this place so I finally gave in. Walking into Pullman Market is like stepping through a culinary portal. Half grocery, half restaurant, and somehow all class. You've got dry aged beef staring at you from one side, pastries that belong in Paris on the other, and about six different smells of heaven floating around at once. We started at Burgers by the Butcher, sat at the bar, and ordered a Wagyu burger that was downright glorious. Juicy, balanced, and cooked with confidence. One of the better burgers I've had in a good while. I paired mine with a margarita that hit hard, exactly how I like it. The lady had a Bloody Mary, and it was bloody good indeed. After exploring the market a bit, we wandered over to the pasta and pizza spot. The Caesar salad looked like a mountain of cheese perfection, but truthfully, the flavor didn't match the presentation. Still, the vodka sauce pasta more than made up for it. Perfectly cooked rigatoni swimming in a rich tomato chile sauce, and those finely chopped shallots added an incredible pop. Straight money. And you know me, the moment I spot a flight on the menu, I'm halfway to saying cheers before the first pour hits the table. Three tidy glasses, all from Campania, smooth as silk and downright charming. Perfect for a slow San Antonio afternoon spent grazing, sipping, and pretending I know what I'm talking about. I've been to Pullman Market a couple of times and the experience has definitely been different every single time but not terrible. This last time I was able to also visit the farmers market and is was amazing to see the number of vendors there. My favorite part is that everyone was evenly spaced out. What I mean by that is every turn had a couple of vendors here and there so I felt like I could really be immersed in the farmers market while getting a variety of different options too! read more

Stumbled upon this cute local grocery market while I was shopping at the Pearls District farmers market. They carry so much variety here it can easily be your one stop shop. I did notice they cater towards more healthy options so do expect to pay higher prices for the good quality. It kind of reminds me of a San Antonio version of "Eataly". I love coming to pullman market and seeing the different flowers. they swap out the candles in the candle section every so often, so there's a nice rotation going. I do recommend the ice cream shop inside, they have unique and tasty flavors. Though the store is pricey and I had hard time finding unflavored water, they do have much to offer. read more

What went amazing you ask? Everything! This is the epitome of "boutique grocers" reminding me a bit of Tiny Grocers, meets Royal Blue Grocery, meets Central Market. At my age, this would be my equivalent of a candy store! They have all the things that make me happy! It is beautiful, alive, energetic, and esthetic. I love how in a 3 minute span you will smell 10 different things. They have beautiful plants displayed outside, colorful dried flowers, tons of varieties of honey, and a beautiful wine cellar! And of course we all know that shopping on an empty stomach is a bad idea so take your pick of plenty of hot or cold food items, margaritas, beer, soda, coffee, or tea! I got the pepperoni pizza from Fifa & Farro on a cauliflower crust which was ah-mazing! And the strawberry panna cotta, which in all honesty was NOT what I expected, it felt a bit too much like boiled egg and it was salty (strange). From the bar across from them I got this fabulous margarita which is as strong as it should be, (went right home and took a nap). They have great music, indoor and outdoor dining, fresh meats, ceviche, burgers, and amazing pastries. This just might be my new favorite hangout. Oh, and the service is insane! Pullman Market is a food lover's paradise. Whether you're a dedicated home chef or really like to eat, there is something here for everyone. There's not a massive set of aisles like your typical grocery store with shelf-stable goods, but what they do have are all brands you may or may not have heard of. With so much square footage, you could easily have breakfast, shop, and stay for lunch. What I liked most was seeing local Texas farms featured in the produce section or other Texan brands like Barton Springs Mill Flours. You can tell that the products carried here were sourced to help highlight other brands/businesses the bigger chain stores may not carry. We worked up an appetite and decided to eat at the Burgers by the Butcher stand at the far end of the store. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are healthy. When I walked up to the counter, one of the guys working said it was the best burger in all of SA, and within seconds of my first bite, I ultimately agreed. I had The Wagyu and added cheese, but you could easily pass on that upgrade, and it would still be awesome. There's just so much flavor in the beef and the aioli that you're entranced with each bite. One order of fries was perfectly sharable for four people, but you could try a few flavors and split easily, too. It all made sense when I discovered this market was created by Ausitn's Emmer & Rye owner/founder. It can be a bit of sensory overload if it was your first time like mine, but it was still very exciting. 25 Jan 2025 This is a vibrant, happening place. We didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. We walked throughout the space to get the lay of the land. It's part grocery store and part a large gift shop. Fresh produce, meat, fish, eggs and most other grocery items are available. Items are not exactly cheap. A bakery/coffee shop is also there. I had an orange marmalade scone that was freakin' delicious for $3.99. Books for sale. There is a bar as you enter from the parking lot. A surprise is that parking was free on the ground level lot just off of Newell. We ate at Ceviche and Tacos. Beef birria or pork carnitas tacos are 3/$12. The husband had the carnitas. While not the biggest tacos (corn), they were tasty. I had the ceviche negro which was delicious. There is also a tortilleria. You can buy fresh flour or corn tortillas. Leaving by the back door places you right in the Pearl area. Convenient. Come here and explore. read more

Visited Burger by the Butcher on Sunday, March 22. Ordered the Wagyu & the El Pollito Pio sandwich. Burger was good, but small for the price. Will not order again. Surprised in a bad way by the chicken sandwich. Could not believe that the Pullman Market would serve compressed chicken instead of a real chicken breast. Tasted like manufactured chicken. I should have said something that day and asked for my money back, it was so bad. Do not recommend. We love shopping at the market, and were excited to try one of the establishments inside. It really has something for everyone - burgers, pizza, tacos, sandwiches, pasta, bakery (yes please!!).. and while it's nothing novel and groundbreaking, everything tastes so fresh and flavorful. It's definitely worth a visit if you're at the Pearl. I think Pullman Market could put the food hall out of biz! I love that they are a whole animal butcher shop. They put the whole thing to use one way or another whether it's by assisting another business or even our pets! Went to meet a friend for lunch and met her at the Food Hall. It was too smoky in there and wasn't pleasant to dine in so we headed to the Pullman Market. It's been awhile since I've been back so we both walked around to see what we wanted to eat. We passed by the bakery and deli and the employee has a wooden board with samples of their house-made Corned Beef & Wagyu beef slices. The Corned Beef looked nice and bright red with peppercorn seasoning on the edges. I tasted it and it tasted a bit salty. I mentioned that to the employee and he said it was probably the seasoning. Next was the Wagyu beef slices which were much better. I saw the pastas in the deli and decided I'd come back after eating. We passed by the Build a Bowl place which had healthy offerings, passed by the ready to eat salads and sandwiches and decided to have a burger at Burgers by the Butcher restaurant. My friend had one the last time we were here and enjoyed it. I had a choice between the Angus Burger and Wagyu Burger. I asked the clerk what was the difference? She said the Angus was more lean and Wagyu was juicier. Of course I went with juicier as I hate dry burgers. Need some fat, baby!! I wanted just the burger without cheese so I could really taste the meat. It came with semi-green, not totally ripe tomato slices(weird for being located in a grocery store???), pickles, lettuce and garlic aioli on a soft bun. I took my tag and waited just a few minutes at a nearby table. There's ketchup packets available at the pickup counter along with napkins & utensils but no mustard packets?? I didn't get the packets of ketchup because it had High Fructose Corn Syrup which I stay away from. Since there was only one person ahead of us, my burger was ready in no time. The meat was very tender and almost falling apart in pieces so I had to hold it together with a napkin. It was delicious in a simple way and the bun was soft. You're not getting a huge piece of meat nor the whole burger compared to other restaurants but it was fine enough for me. I'd say it was a medium sized patty. My friend got same but with cheese and a side order of fries which were kinda limp & thin. Her 1.5 y/o son liked the fries. If you want extra seasonings like Pullman's Spice, Salt & Vinegar seasoning or Curry seasoning on your food it's $.50. Would have been nice if they just seasoned the meat with their Pullman's Spice and call it a Pullman Burger. After we finished eating we walked around the store and I later on after walking around The Pearl area, snagged some fresh Pappardelle pasta and a 6-pack of Gimme Korean BBQ seasoned Seaweed snacks. My friend recommended the K-BBQ snacks. I'd like to check out the wine area next time and possibly some bakery items. Pullman Market is right next to the historic, cultural district called Pearl. We kind of cooled off walking through here just checking things out on a very hot May 24, 2025. This place is dangerous! Haha... so much fresh, yummy looking food sold market style. In addition, if only we had more time, I wanted to eat at Mezquite. It's a Sonoran (Mexican) restaurant. Their homemade tortillas. On-point cocktails. Mariscos y ceviches too... I know I missed out. There were other enticing restaurants, but I would have chose that one first. Next time, San Antonio, TEXAS! PARKING There is a lot on Newell Avenue next to Pullman Market. Don't forget to ask for validation. read more
