When I saw this place on Yelp, it had all the unique and funky vibes I needed to know this was gonna be a fun pit stop in Deadwood. The old, vintage gas station - converted to an upbeat and throw back in time coffee shop is amazing. The blown glass on display (and for sale) is stunning! The menu is direct and breakfast/lunch; and healthy (made fresh). We ordered a white chocolate latte and espresso with a "everything" bagel and breakfast sandwich. Looking for a quick bite to eat ands ran across Pump House. Such a cute place inside of an old gas station. The decor of course is gas station items like oil cans and workman tools. My husband and I both ordered the Lug Nut Sandwich. Chicken salad on a croissant with nuts and raisins. The salad its self was swimming in mayo and it was served on a roll not a true croissant. The meal is served with a bag of chips. Service was quick. You order at the register and they deliver to your table. They also serve breakfast and a full size coffee menu. Must go to coffee shop in Deadwood. It carries the theme of an old pumping station with a kilning lab inside along with a bunch of glass artwork, the charm in this coffee shop is untouchable. As far as the coffee goes, I ordered an Americano along with a breakfast bagel sandwich. I usually order an Americano so I can judge the espresso fairly, and it was a cup of joe. As far as the breakfast sandwich goes, I'm not a bagel snob by any means, but the everything thing bagel was top notch. Light, airy and soft, would definitely recommend. read more

Arrived in Deadwood around 1:30 PM and hungry. I had the Crunch chicken sandwich and it was delicious! Sat on the patio that's offset a distance from the street and a view of what I believe was the county court house? There's also a glass blower that shares a section of the building but they weren't there; typically work early morning's due to the heat of the furnaces. Pump House is one of the more unique coffee shops in Deadwood taking up most of an old service station. They offer espresso drinks and food along the main drag in town. Parking is limited on site so you may need to walk. The coffee menu is extensive with many favorite options. Food rotates and looks to be more lunch and snack items. On my visit I had an espresso and a toffee cake. The espresso was nice but the toffee cake was really good. It had a nice rich flavor. The interior was fun and funky with lots of old gas station decor. Seating is decent inside with a small patio outside if weather permits. There was an issue with the payment system on my trip but staff let me enjoy my food while they fixed it so that helped. I always make a point to find small independent coffee places on trips. This led me to Pump House. It's a little slower and smaller than a big place but it gives you time to stop and enjoy the local experience. read more

So i had to leave early Monday morning from the annual family Deadwood trip and to my surprise -- Yelp revealed this little shop. I have driven by it and walked by it a million times, and never thought it was a cafe or coffee shop. I walked in with my baby and the staff were so gracious and friendly. Got me a latte right away and had some delicious muffins to boot. The interior is small but there is some seating outside, as well. The decor is focused on the glass blowing shop vibe that takes up more than half of the front area space. The equipment needed serviced but i think you can watch glass blowing when it's operational while you enjoy your coffee. I savor local coffee joints and was so happy to not have to go to the Starbucks down the road to start my long roundtrip home. read more

Of the 3 coffee spots I tried in Deadwood Pump House was definitely the best. I believe they don't have oat milk (nor did any of the others) so, if memory serves me, I had an almond milk latte with sugar free hazelnut which was very good. My husband's espresso was also very good. The cashier had some trouble (wasn't super "with it") but got the job done and was pleasant. I appreciate the outdoor seating. We stopped here on our way out of town before our long road trip back to colorado. Everyone wore masks which was nice, and unfortunately not common in SD! The Pump House is a lot being the child of a divorced family. You have separation anxiety when you leave the other. You probably have lower self esteem. You have trouble holding long lasting relationships... those last two have nothing to do with the Pump House, it's more me. I just needed to get it out. Anyways you gotta look on the bright side, you get two parents both buying you Christmas presents, vying for your attention and love and THAT'S what it feels like visiting the Pump House. Awesome iced coffee, bagel sandwiches, friendly service, and double christmases. 10/10 would make a pit stop. read more

I didn't get any food here so I can't comment on that, but I tried a drink called the London Fog while I was exploring Deadwood and now I have something that I am going to be looking for in every coffee shop that I go to. The drink itself is half and half mixed with Earl Grey Tea. They then add a shot of vanilla which overall, was perfect for a chilly Halloween while walking about. The shop set up is really cool. As you probably can tell by the name, it is an old gas station that the converted to a coffee shop and a blown glass studio which makes for neat entertainment as well as a nice area to warm up from the cold.
