large size Pumpispiess with potato salad and Bürli bread roll
    I-Lin L.

Came here with a party of 4 for dinner on a Monday night. It was packed, and we were about to leave when a large table opened up. But another couple sat down, so 6 of us ended up sharing the table. Our server was nice and spoke English. He recommended their specialties--Pumpispiess and potato salad--so of course that's what I got. The meat was covered in spices and quite tasty, but seemed slightly undercooked. Not sure if that was intentional, but it did keep the meat from being too tough. The Bürli bread roll was kind of dry and hard, but the potato salad was delicious. Mixed opinions from our group regarding the food, but we all agreed it was a really nice location to sit outside by the lake.

Four of us pulled in here one warmish spring day in mid-June while strolling the banks of the Lake, four kids (aged 3.5 to 10) in tow. My wife's cousin's husband read me the menu, and between the two of us we opted for something I can only describe as a massive wooden skewer of saucy, seasoned beef (described by menu as a "Gentleman's Portion") and a plate of fried fish sitting atop a green salad. Between these plates (all of which were served with a giant, crusty roll), my son's half-eaten wurst, and a couple Schneider Weisses, we were not disappointed. My wife and I managed to independently order the same dish, which may be a first for us -- and the fact that they involved fried food is like, unheard of. So points there as well. An idyllic location and excellent spot for people watching, and if you get a chance, visit the place's quirky website (http://www.pumpstation.ch/). The menu is impossible to locate, but it's a lot of fun cruising around.

Food was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but it came quick. By the water is a plus.

We opted for 5 courses which included 2 appetizers, 2 mains and one dessert. One standout dish was the yellowtail sashimi. The fish was fresh, silky and sweet, paired with blueberries and dill sorbet which was unique and created a surprisingly clean and refreshing bite. Another one was the white asparagus paired with yuzu. The white asparagus was tender and brightened by the citrusy acidity from the yuzu. The flavors were refined, well-balanced, and beautifully presented, allowing the quality of each ingredient to shine. Our server was extremely friendly and patient as he took the time to explain everything to us in English. Service was also just at the right pace. We didn't feel rushed and it wasn't as slow as what we experienced in Germany and Austria. Wöschi provides a combination of exceptional food, attentive service and a beautiful lakeside view. We would happily return the next time we are in Switzerland.

The restaurant is tucked away off Seestrasse on the water behind a bizarre vintage designer clothing outlet (seriously odd - a better selection of 1980's Balenciaga and Givenchy than in 1980....). Impeccable, welcoming service even though I only ordered a glass of wine during dinner hours; the restaurant was empty due to the off season, but I can imagine it's packed in the summer since the glass walls can fully open to the outdoors.
