This food was incredible! The beef was tender and flavorful and the falafel was 10/10. I really appreciated the view of the restaurant over the river too. The service was OKAY; they were courteous and kind but we also rarely saw our server and it took us about 20 minutes to have someone acknowledge us. The energy of the restaurant is chaotic, seat yourself, right on the main walk way with a ton of passerbyers, but I didnt mind it. (Also, not that you guys have to cater to Americans, but an alternate menu in English's even on your website would be super helpful. I tried to use your website, and it's artsy, and fun; but not user friendly.) read more

Came through on a Thursday evening. No one to greet us, a server came up to us saying sit anywhere, ended up grabbing at table. Another server came by with a menu. Came by again a couple minutes later, we ordered but then he said the kitchen was closed. Wish there was a dinner menu and after dinner menu with just drinks since the kitchen closes before the bar does. Ended up grabbing two large beers for 70 CHF. Great location on the lake with lots of spots to sit. Wish there was a better lighting, service, menus and music. read more

Food was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but it came quick. By the water is a plus.

Came here with a party of 4 for dinner on a Monday night. It was packed, and we were about to leave when a large table opened up. But another couple sat down, so 6 of us ended up sharing the table. Our server was nice and spoke English. He recommended their specialties--Pumpispiess and potato salad--so of course that's what I got. The meat was covered in spices and quite tasty, but seemed slightly undercooked. Not sure if that was intentional, but it did keep the meat from being too tough. The Bürli bread roll was kind of dry and hard, but the potato salad was delicious. Mixed opinions from our group regarding the food, but we all agreed it was a really nice location to sit outside by the lake. read more

Four of us pulled in here one warmish spring day in mid-June while strolling the banks of the Lake, four kids (aged 3.5 to 10) in tow. My wife's cousin's husband read me the menu, and between the two of us we opted for something I can only describe as a massive wooden skewer of saucy, seasoned beef (described by menu as a "Gentleman's Portion") and a plate of fried fish sitting atop a green salad. Between these plates (all of which were served with a giant, crusty roll), my son's half-eaten wurst, and a couple Schneider Weisses, we were not disappointed. My wife and I managed to independently order the same dish, which may be a first for us -- and the fact that they involved fried food is like, unheard of. So points there as well. An idyllic location and excellent spot for people watching, and if you get a chance, visit the place's quirky website (http://www.pumpstation.ch/). I was looking for Sternen Grill and found this place first. It was so appealing I stopped for a bite. It's a small outdoor cafe located lakeside. The atmosphere is casual, almost like you're on the beach (my CA perspective). The views are beautiful. There is an open area set back from the dining tables where a large grill is going. There was always a variety of sausage and other foods slowly cooking away on my visits. I suppose that this German street food, whatever you call it I loved every minute of it. The sausage is served with mustard and a roll, very similar to Sternen Grill. Though the mustard is much spicier at Sternen. I only sampled one side dish, corn. I thought my server explained that it was a corn salad. Instead it was a while ear of corn that appeared to have been picked or preserved somehow. Imagine canned corn taste but with the on-the-ear form factor. I sampled it but left most of it behind. The potato salad and friend fries were very popular at nearby tables and looked pretty good. My sausage and beer were about 10 CHF, which is pretty cheap by local standards. By comparison I never found a real sit down experience for less than 28 CHF. read more

Right on the water. Perfect vibe. Great for people watching. Drinks are delicious. Good selection of beers. Wait staff isn't incredibly friendly but that isn't the first time we've encountered that in Switzerland. The owner told us it was "cash only" when we went to check out, but no one mentioned this ahead of time. The cook was super friendly and he knew his way around a grill. It was a nice June day, and it seemed like all of Zurich was out at the lake. The grass and patio seating were all packed around 7-8pm as the sun was setting and weather was cooling down - Continental sour: it was nice to see craft cocktails here. The bartender looked like a pro with the shaker tossing. The use of fresh citrus, fresh herbs, and bitters made this little lake side bar pretty legit. The drink was CHF 16 - Canned beer is CHF 5.50?? I think the cocktail was a much better deal - CHF 15 beef kabob: the meat was really tender, well seasoned, and tasted like a hot dog to me. The main appeal was that we were hungry and saw meat on a giant stick. It came with warm crusty bread that was just dropped off, which was good with the meat since its kind of salty on its own. The to go and for here prices are slightly different. Since it was so packed, we took our food down to the water's edge, which was much nicer and less crazy. Now I know what people meant when they talked about prices adding up very quickly in Zurich. Still, as a tourist, drinking with a lakeside view at sunset was pretty priceless. Cash only. read more

Great views and decent food. Expect Zürich/Switzerland prices of courses. The service is on par with what you get in this country, somewhere between rude and indifferent. But the menu items are more "interesting" and flavorful than the typical place in Zürich. The perfect place to meet up with friends and colleagues for happy hour and a pick me up after work or during the weekend on a nice day. Plenty of alcohol selection! read more

Hands down, this is the best grill restaurant/take-away place on the lake! In the summer I'm a regular here and always grab a grilled chicken sandwich to go. Sometimes I get lucky and they have pita bread, otherwise is served with Bürli. Always is deliciously spiced, and for CHF 8 you can't say much! read more

It was the worst customer services experience ever. Head of staff named 'baba' was a real nightmare. He is VERY arrogant and full of himself. The overall service was headed by him. We ordered the food which took almost an hour just for the drinks. Head of the staff 'baba' said that they didn't speak any English, although he was talking in English with some other customers. Food was very expensive for the services. And it was humiliating to be there with the family.I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. Stay away from this restaurant and especially from its terrible staff if you want to have a peaceful mind while on your break. read more
