What a great refuge on Broadway! Broadway isn't what it used to be. Some parts are lively, but some parts are barren and closed down. But Punch Bowl Social is a bright and lively spot! They have basic drinks (shots, punches, frozen margs, mules). All for around 12 bucks. They have beer too. They also have bar food (wings, tacos, shrimp, chicken and waffles, dips, chips, and more). And the bartenders are friendly and attentive. The main attraction here, however, are the games. Bowling, basketball, skee ball, air hockey, table tennis. All for a reasonable price. They also have flat screens playing sporting events. The space is open, light, and lots of room to move around. Even if it gets crowded, I think you'd have space to breathe. This is a place to come and play with friends. You're not here for a gourmet food or cocktail experience. I've been coming here with friends since it opened. They have consistently good food (elevated bar food, fresh veg, fresh fried eats). The cocktails are very good and reasonably priced (e.g. spicy marg $12). They have a decent beer selection including local and regional beers with reasonable prices. Dropping a star because service can be rough at the main circle bar. Somehow there will be 6 service people milling around with 1 bartender. When people come to that bar, they'd like a drink quickly. We hadn't been to Punch Bowl Social since a Yelp event dragged me and my then-girlfriend in over 10 years ago. After last Friday night, I think I'll set my calendar reminder for 2035. We stopped in while waiting for our table at MAKfam across the street. A quick drink at the bar seemed like a low-risk, high-reward move. Wrong. The drinks? Fine. The service? Nonexistent. Apparently, being a party of two makes you invisible. We sat for over 10 minutes before one bartender wandered over, not to take our order, but to say, "I'll let the other bartender know you're here because I'm working a party." That line alone was enough to make us feel unwelcome. Imagine being told, point-blank, that you're not worth the effort. Classy. Eventually, the other bartender showed up, got us our drinks, and I immediately asked to cash out. MAKfam texted that our table was ready, so I slammed my beer like it was a punishment shot and we bolted. Twenty minutes total. Fifteen of those spent staring at the backs of bartenders who clearly had better things to do. For a place built around "social," Punch Bowl still hasn't figured out the hospitality part. Next time, I'll just wait on the sidewalk because at least there, invisibility is expected. read more

Today I decided to try Punchbowl social for happy hour. I've been seeing some interesting activities that I may want to participate in and so I was looking at their events and saw their happy hour menu with five dollar drinks and some appetizers for anywhere from five to $10 a plate. I decided to splurge and spend $10 on Nachos. When I got there at about 430 it was pretty empty. One thing I really enjoyed was the games on the table so while you waited, you could play a board game or cards by yourself or with friends. It was refreshing to get out of my phone for a little while today. I was greeted and seated immediately. All of the White staff acknowledged me. My waiter was fast and friendly despite receiving more tables while I was sitting there. My nachos were abundant. I got vegetarian nachos and I wasn't missing a thing. They were fabulous. I got an unsweet iced tea with lime and it hit the spot and the refills were excellent for a hot day like today. I will definitely be back for happy hour. They have happy hour from 4 to 6 on weekdays and all day on Mondays. read more

Came to visit on a Sunday with some family members. Space was cool and the placing of sections was interesting. We got to play a few rounds of darts. (My favorite feature was the replay record and the accuracy of dart placement). Along with a few signature drinks, which was excellent! We didn't get to try food due to dinner prior nor, we were full to go bowling. Although a few rounds of arcade games to night cap and hang out was needed to digest. What terrible service! We stopped in mid June. We got good service at first by Taylor. Then we wanted a 2nd cocktail. Our server disappeared. I walked around looking for a server and found several standing around the empty facility. I asked for a server and they tried locating Taylor. Finally 10 minutes later he appears. We order a drink. Still no Taylor after 10 minutes in a place that has a bartender standing around doing nothing. I walk to the bar and ask for a status on our drinks and the bartender says she has gotten an order from our server. We pay and walk out. Taylor stops by and says our drinks and food are comped. We had a great experience this evening at Punchbowl Social. Happy hour prices go all day Monday and are incredibly reasonable ($5 for a few different special cocktails and $5 well drink cocktails!). I tried the Knockoff Burger and really enjoyed it - one of the first GOOD smashburgers I've had in Denver. The sauce definitely helped, and I added some other seasoning because I felt the burger could've been a little better seasoned. The fries are great though! Drinks were good too. We went on Thursday just shortly after opening and the restaurant was pretty quiet. There was one server working so she was definitely running around and had her hands full. We ordered nonalcoholic drinks to start and they were all delicious. I had the ginger tea lemonade I think. We had also ordered the coconut drink and the strawberry lemonade. All were delish. We ordered a few appetizers to start. It's including the potato and cheese taquito, the queso mozzarella sticks. the potato and cheese taquito was weird. It was potatoes and American cheese, which I don't know you don't typically see that on the menu the sauce the green sauce that it came with was really good. The red was a little spicy, but overall the taquito just felt strange on the menu I felt like the mozzarella sticks needed to be a little bit hotter in case so you can't go wrong with queso. For an entrée, two of us ordered the chicken and waffles one ordered a burger and then two ordered the steak. The steak looked good just very large. It's a very large portion. The burger comes as a double patty. I don't know why there's no single Patty option on the menu and then the waitress seemed confused on how to remove the second Patty on the system, but it just seems like you should have the option for a single Patty. The chicken and waffles was decent. The syrup came already on top of the waffle. I feel like I would've liked it more if it was a either on the side or be drizzled over the chicken as well. It had a little spicy kick to it, which was nice and strawberries and like chives on top, but the dish felt heavy overall and it was very huge. I definitely did not finish it and it didn't really seem like it would heat up well because the syrup had already soaked into the waffle that was sitting under the chicken. read more

This place is so fun and I'm not sure I'll be able to ever visit Denver without stopping in for some games and drinks. It doesn't take long to see how fun the atmosphere is and their drink menu is solid for sure. With options like bowling, basketball, darts, billiards, arcade games, pinball, karaoke rooms, party/board games, you could really spend a long time here or have a different experience playing different games each time. On top of all that, they sometimes have DJ'd music nights, live music, and I saw that they had a silent disco coming up as well. There's a family friendly bowling area as well. I planned a special birthday dinner here for a group of out-of-towners (including me). The events person I worked with to set it up was knowledgeable, responsive, and thorough. The food ended up being just ok --basic bar fare. I picked the venue because it had plenty of vegan and meat eater options. The cocktails were tasty but expensive; the draft beer selection was limited. The worst part of the whole event was that the service was terrible. It took almost a half hour to get our first round of drinks, and the place was practically empty except for us. We were assigned two servers, and they came around infrequently. The dirty dishes stayed on our table for the entire 2 hour event. When I mentioned the poor service to the guy who brought me the bill, he apologized, and then left the dishes there for another 45 minutes until we left. I brought two buddies to Punch Bowl on a LOUD Friday night and it was poppin' during the NBA finals. There were no tables available downstairs so we were instructed to try first come first serve spots at the upstairs bar. Some rude guests were saving seats for "friends" who never showed up, but we grabbed another small table and stools for the 3 of us after 10 minutes or so. We ordered both drinks and food from the bartenders. Didn't have to wait too long for draft beers. The food came out by a waitress but she didn't bring any silverware for our 3 dishes so I asked for some. A couple minutes later she crossed by our table again and said she was on she'd be right back with some. We waited about 10 more minutes and she never returned -- I'm actually quite concerned, her missing photo might be on a milk carton right now. Someone check on that poor girl. I eventually went up to the bar and grabbed 3 sets of napkins/silverware... sometimes the simplest most obvious needs can be needlessly complicated. I got the "chicken under a brick" for $20, which was a half roasted chicken on top of semi-sweet hummus spread, a few roasted carrots, and a little herb salad. There were some tasty flavors, but I was ultimately underwhelmed. There wasn't much meat for a half chicken, and it tasted like something was missing, perhaps something green or salty. I'd recommend PBS for a fun date night, they have so much room for activities and just about every game you can think of from bowling to ping pong to skeeball and many more. Quite a large space with a front dining room and bar, a separate circular bar, 8 bowling lanes, a dartboard area, arcade machines, photo space, and multiple small rooms to be reserved. I sat at the circular bar. Multiple TV screens showing sport games some with texting messages. Large menu for food and drinks. I started with a Old Fashioned made with Rittenhouse rye whiskey. The drink looked short. I asked the bartender and he said this was a 2 oz pour for $12!! It had a large ice cube which is standard, but the glass could barely hold it. It was appropriately strong. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with Rosemary fries. The regular side would be sweet potato or regular fries, but the rosemary fries had a $1 upcharge. Ok. Sandwich was very good with crisp bacon. While waiting for my food, a staff person laid out happy hour menus (4-6pm Mon-Fri) at 415pm. I had arrived at 330pm. They started shift change at about 420pm. I noticed the happy hour Old Fashioned was priced at $5. So I ordered another one. A big surprise. Much more alcohol, like 6 oz for less than half the regular price. I watched a bartender do direct pours into glasses without using a jigger, so very easy to underpour and overpour drinks. Another surprise when I got my check. I expected a $12 & $5 charge for my two drinks, but was charged only $10 for both. This is a management issue. I walked around afterwards. Good prices for bowling with reduced rates including shoes Mon-Thur and after 6pm otherwise. Plenty of arcade machines, electronic dartboards, a photo wall/booth and vending machines to play the games. In the back next to the main bowling lanes, I saw a sign referring to the Mezzanine bar. I went up a flight of stairs to a 3rd bar with pool tables. I looked, but no elevator. I saw a sign saying their New Years Eve party was $40 in advance or $60 same day. AMAZING on all aspects!!! So fun, such a great vibe, super friendly and helpful staff and the food was absolutely delicious! I've been craving the tacos since I left Denver, I will definitely be returning on my next visit. I had a few hours to spare before my flight home and my daughter suggested we go have some fun, so we ended up at Punchbowl Social (such a great name) I was surprised how empty it was for a Sunday afternoon, with so much to do, eat, drink etc... It was perfect for us though. We played some darts, ate some tacos, played some Skee-Ball and just chatted... perfect way to end the weekend. 10/10 would definitely recommend! We visited Punch Bowl Social at brunch time on a Saturday mid-morning. It was not very busy so we were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and prompt throughout our meal. The space is huge and I suspect is much busier in the evening since it is set up as a bar/restaurant combo that skews much heavier in the social hangout/bar category than true restaurant. The food itself was good. Nothing that I would seek out specifically, but somewhere I would eat at if I was in the area. From a price standpoint there is not a great value here, you over pay a bit for what you get but not an outrageous amount. read more

So, Punch Bowl... it's trying. My biggest gripe is I NEVER get to play in the arcade! Every single time... not that I've been there a lot, but still, every time it's closed for "a private party". Ugh what-evs. Why boast about it if it's so often unavailable! They could have designed the space differently so it's not separated from certain customers. The food is decent, it's not bad. I've only had a few different apps/snacks. Best to get here for happy hour to save a little bit. The bowling alley is decent if you get on the bigger one and there's a really small second one in the hallway area. Didn't love that as much and the pins are on strings, kinda weird, definitely different. The service can be good or messy. Last time I was given a hard time for my happy hour drink pricing which were ordered during the happy hour timeframe. The server acted like she didn't understand and came back a second time still refusing to correct it. It was very frustrating to have to re-explain how you ordered drinks during HH and you expect to be charged HH prices. What is there to be confused about? It's really a pet peeve of mine when Denver area businesses promote their happy hour and then you have to check the bill like a hawk to make sure you didn't pay full price -- it happens A LOT and if you all aren't checking your bills, I can almost guarantee you're getting overcharged! The manager came over and I told her and she eventually fixed it, although with an real attitude since the beginning of coming over. "Managers" just don't even mean anything anymore in the F&B industry, they lack just as much if not more emotional intelligence than the entry-level worker. I really don't get it why they can't be the least bit professional and just "nice" really. I also wanted to bring a group of people another time I was here and I felt like I was in some repetitive circle hell as I stated that it was for a group of strangers, so I wasn't paying any money for space, just wanted to know if an area could be held. The mgr kept circling back to reaching out to group sales or whatever they titled it "for a fee" and I said so many times I'm not paying money. These are not family and friends, they're acquaintances and strangers. Really, I have ears and a brain and they usually both work somewhat alright. Just say no we can't, sorry, but get here early and save them yourself. It's fine I can move on and don't need to repeat, repeat, repeat as if suddenly going to change my mind and pay to hold seating. The thing is, too, having people inside - a group - it brings money to the establishment in the form of people buying things. I guess that isn't valued anymore. I'd have filled up the space pretty nicely if a larger couple of tables could've be held. I have never had a bad experience with the service and that is bring this place up for me. Ambiance is very nice and gives me industrial vibes. Other than that this place is average and overpriced.
