Will absolutely come back. They have a very good selection of food. The staff were friendly. There was one hiccup were one of the food orders were wrong. But the staff were able to very apologetic and nice. We got free appetizers for that - and it came without asking. A very nice touch. The food was amazinggg. Get the pastelitos. Every kind lol. My family and i went to Punta Cana Bistro on my birthday. I had heard about it and seen pictures on instagram, and for months had been looking to go! It did nor disappoint! The food and drinks were great! Wait staff was nice (though they didn't speak a lot of English, good thing we understand spanish, but maybe other waiters there speak better english). My sister and i decided to split a platter that came with chicken, meat, seafood, and fried plantains. My father got the salmon with mashed Yuca; my mom got a chicken dish and my brother in law a steak dish. Everything was very flavorful, nicely cooked! We loved it! The drinks were awesome though i didn't see a drink menu, so i asked/showed them pictures i saw in Instagram. I had a coconut caipirinha and a passion fruit/coconut mojito. Loved them both! Every time I come here it's such a great experience. The drinks are amazing, the food is on point, and the servers are great. This is probably the best frutti de Mari I've had, the sauce was flavorful and there was a great amount of seafood in it. The passion fruit sangria was strong in the alcohol but not to the point where you'd cringe, it was very fruity and tropical tasting. Our server was amazing as well, he was very polite and attentive. Awesome find! You would never know it's there if you're just walking down the street. My friend and I actually went to Punta Cana on vacation and this brought us right back. Everything seemed super authentic. We didn't get a chance to try the food but the drinks were some of the best I've had. They took a very long time to make but it was worth it after tasting them. We tried the caipirinha which is made with a Dominican rum. I had passion fruit flavor and my friend got strawberry - both amazing! The mojitos were awesome too, I recommend the kiwi. The decor was really nice and our waitress was really friendly and helpful. It was pretty quiet inside but we went on a Wednesday after work which is probably why. Will definitely be back! read more

Walked in around 7:30 on a Saturday night. It's not a very big restaurant so there aren't that many tables. All of the tables were taken, but there were four seats at the bar so we opted to sit there until a table opened up. I will say that the male bartender who was working that night was excellent - I didn't catch his name, but he was very friendly and accommodating. Drinks were great! I enjoyed my passionfruit sangria. Others got the tropical sangria and liked those as well. Pretty well stocked bar. I got the spicy oxtail risotto as my entrée and it could've used a tad bit more oxtail meat, but the risotto itself was plentiful, creamy, and delicious. I could only eat half before wrapping up the rest to go. Stole a bite of my friends coconut flan at the end of our meal and it was super yummy. Overall, I have had better Dominican food at a couple other restaurants so this wouldn't be a top choice for me. I also think they need to work on better execution of their food service. It took 45 minutes for us to receive our entrées after ordering. I appreciate that everything is being made fresh, but that's a pretty long time (especially when you're hangry). Horrible service. The empanadas ended up being chiken breast which I had to send back. Order the meatball app and churrazco w smash yuca and potatoes. A waiter came back 10min later to tell me they didnt have the meatballs even thou it was on the menu. By this point I was extremely mad with how slow service. A hour goes by and churrasco arrive. The hubby and i had a date night tonight and decided to check out a new restaurant. So of course we headed to yelp to check out restaurant around the area. We were in the mood for some Latin cuisine and this restaurant and another restaurant came up but the restaurant we wanted to go to was a 2 hour wait so we decided on this restaurant. We arrived and I was a little concerned because they were not busy at all on a Saturday night. We were seated right away and the waitress was attentive and nice. My husband had the salmon (special) and I had the oxtails, the food was good, homemade good. The restaurant was clean, family friendly and enjoyable. I would definitely go back. I was kind of upset that they didn't have yellow rice and beans, they only had white rice and rice with vegetables, which isn't exactly what I think of when I think of Dominican food. I feel bad leaving such a negative review based on service alone, but i must be completely honesty. We ventured here this past Saturday evening, it wasnt too packed for a Saturday night, but i wasnt complaining. When we initially walked in I was pretty impressed. It was a good while before we got our drinks, close to 10 minutes. We got our drinks and ordered the Surf and Turf board (for 2). All was ok until the delivery of the board! While the waiter was putting the board down he knocked the accompanying sauce onto my pants and shoes! HE didnt offer much help, just came back to the table with a hand full of bar napkins. He didnt seem too worried that I had both my pants and shoes covered in this orange sauce. I used my napkin to clean as much as i could and after a few minutes, he came back with a wet cloth. He simply said, "im sorry" and walked away. There was no additional communication from the waiter and no one from management came by to check on the situation. I was just stuck with sauce covering my shoes and making a mess of my pants! This was our first stop to our date night, so it kinda set a bad tone having to rush home after to change! Came here on a suggestion from a friend. It was pretty late on a Saturday night when we were arrived but they were still open. The restaurant was small but the set up had an open feel to it. Pros: the serivice was good. We also had a great frozen drink. Morir Sonando with malibu rum and it was excellent! Cons: I really wanted to like this place but the food was meh and three out of the five dishes we asked about from the menu were not available which was frustrating. This area of providence has quite a few dominican restaurants. Most are cafeteria style without a bar. So this location having table service and a full bar has so much potential but they need to bring it with the flavor. Maybe some garlic sauce for the tostones. Go heavy on the seasoning. Everything I had this night was underwhelming and super bland and if you can get better tasting food up the street for less, that's where people will go. I had the calamari salad and enjoyed the salad more than the calamari itself, the dressing was very tasteful. My mashed potatoes were okay, but I wasn't too crazy about the fish. After 4 visits - 2 for lunch, 2 for dinner - I can write an informed review. First of all, the food here is really really excellent. There is a good variety of types of foods, sizes of servings and prices. I've had the eggplant, the scup tacos, the chicken wings with a fruit sauce, fish croquettes, paella, and beef empanadas. I would order any one of them again! I deducted one star because the service is not what I need it to be. The servers are really sweet, constantly apologetic (for what?) and very earnest. What they are not is attuned to the customers' needs, which renders service really slow. Because I find this restaurant to be so promising for the neighborhood, for Providence, and for my palate, I offer these suggestions. - know how to make a good G&T. Get some proper cocktail glasses. - bring a glass of water to the table without asking. - have servers check in with the diners when appropriate, which does not mean constantly. - have servers understand when to bring a check and when to retrieve it. Waiting to depart more than a 10 minutes after finishing a meal is really irritating. - turn the music down a bit. noise is good, but shouting at my tablemates is not. I've been to this restaurant on Broad Street a couple times and so far have not been overly impressed with the service or the food. The outdoor seating area is fairly nice considering where it is located on Broad Street. The drinks were good but the service was slow. Maybe it's a good place to go just for drinks at the bar inside, or with inside table service. read more

The food is good with the exception that the meat doesn't taste fresh. I have been several times and almost every time the chicken tasted old to me. I went recently with someone whom ordered steak and instantly they said the steak was old- which confirmed my doubts so haven't been to eat there since. Also, communication is a problem as well. We're not from around the way it was a last minute pick and we drove from Westborough, Ma to providence just to try it out.
