My husband and I went to Grand Slam/Wicked Chicken for an impromptu date night. Our server was nice, but appeared to be overwhelmed. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and my husband ordered a patty melt with tots. We each also had a singular cocktail. The drinks were small and ok. The food, on the other hand, was awful. My fries came out cold and my grilled chicken was rubbery. My husband's burger was overcooked and considerably smaller than the bread it came on. His tots were at least kinda warm. Our server came by and asked if we needed a box, to which we answered with an immediate "no". We explained our unhappiness and told her we just wanted to pay and leave and to not get the manager involved. After being gone for several minutes, she came back with a discounted bill and told us the manager just happened to be there when she went to run our card. I have been wanting to try this place for ages and finally got down here today. The outside is like I expected, but the interior? Pictures don't do it justice. Walking in, there was a board with seasonal specials (food and drink), as well as a joke. The decor was beautiful, such a great vibe. A gentleman greeted me and sat me on the less busy side of the restaurant. Then he noticed I was wearing a dress and quickly offered to seat me on the other side, where it was warmer. But I declined and sat on the left side with the bakery case. There was one other occupied table on my side, but it was a large group. My server, Melanie ( great name, BTW), immediately greeted me and asked me what I'd like to drink. I asked for a glass of water, and the Snickers coffee. Ended up choosing the breakfast tacos, and the order of candied bacon. The bacon was the most delicious thing I've put in my face hole. Sweet and spicy and salty and crunchy and chewy. Melanie laughed when I commented on it so glowingly. She also offered up that they've got a bacon cheeseburger with this bacon on it, and waffles as the buns. My tacos came out a little after the bacon, which was perfect. They were much heftier than I expected. I was only able to finish one, and brought the other two home. Also delicious. Chorizo, scrambled eggs, toppings, sour cream, and salsa. NOM. I'm not much for sweets, but couldn't help passing by the bakery case, because everything looked so good. This is a wonderful place. My friend and I went here for brunch one Sunday morning and it was perfect! The Cafe has classic diner favorites, but with extra twists too, like the Puff Benedict's, and breakfast/brunch cocktails, like the espresso martinis we ordered. For breakfast, I ordered the Florentine Puff Benedict. I love eggs benedict and knew I had to try the new take on it with the puff pastry, instead of the traditional English muffin. I'm so glad I did, this was delicious!! The pastry adds a different texture that I really enjoyed. I got mine with hashbrowns and they were cooked perfectly - crispy but not rock hard. My friend ordered the Chicken and Waffle and it was also delicious. The serving size was perfect for one person. We both really enjoyed our experience and will absolutely be back. Bad customer service. we waited a half hour to place our order after being seated. i had to flag down an employee to say we were ready to order. They took the order and went back to working the lunch counter. I guess they forgot to submit it, who knows. we waited another 45 minutes. I asked for the manager who then proceeded to tell me I was the only person to complain today. lol The food is actually good but they really need different management. He obviously isn't scheduling enough pepole. He told me it's always busy on Sunday, I suggested more help or he could roll up his sleeves and do something. He didn't like that. This is a Jefferson County GEM! First of all the Pupillo Family has done amazing with their family of restaurants, but this one just hits different. Their brunch menu is amazing. The menu is huge and food is delicious, you can't pick anything bad. They have a great variety of both non alcoholic and boozy breakfast drinks. The dining room is pretty spacious, but there is usually a wait in the weekends after about 9am. Service is usually okay as long as you're patient and not in a rush. read more

So, we had to wait for a table and then again a long wait for our food to come out. It was worth it! Everything on the menu is served all day (including Breakfast). I ordered the Shrimp and Grits minus the bacon and a side fruit cup. Their signature Wicked Sauce served on the side made the dish taste awesome and the shrimp were huge and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the White Chili Slinger which he really enjoyed. They have their own Wicked Chicken coffee which is good. Our server Nat was very attentive and kept the drinks coming even though she was slammed with customers. The place is bright, inviting and clean. You should take a quick peak at the desserts before you order your food or you won't have save room for some of those tasty treats.
