I did not send email, I was not able to see account online and thought she was right. On February 18 my account was debited by Pilates Chapel Hill South, so if emailed them concerning debit. I got phone later from the manager. She told me I was a member and I must have called wrong studio. I don't think she even spoke to sales rep concerning call just told me it was my mistake. I have proof, call log showing 3 minute call to her studio and I emailed to her. She will waive final monthly fee since I was cancelling my n February 18 within 30 day payment window and I could attend classes thru end of month. REALLY... after proof sent and it's still my mistake. I won't ever go there again. I was taught the customer is always right and I know that isn't always true. However, if the customer sends proof, you apologize for the error, you don't keep defending your sales rep.

As an athlete, I have experience in the gym, pool and outdoor activities, but I had never tried Pilates before and didn't know what to expect. The instructors are great- they lead you through the workouts and explain things really well and provide demonstrations from time to time. The only thing that could potentially be improved is the invitability of the buisness- When approaching the building for the first time, it was hard to tell that they were even open because they have full length window covers covering their doors at all times.

I've been taking Paul Sobin's Continuing Basics series for about 6 months, and this review is…read morepurely about this series. I'm very new to yoga. There are free classes at my school, but I feel like you need a certain level of understanding of the poses before going to those classes. I'm the kind of person that would feel VERY uncomfortable mimicking the poses in class without learning the ABCs first, just for the sake of feeling sore afterwards. I'm also uncomfortable when the teachers talk way too much about their spiritual journey. I respect other people's spirituality, but when it's hovering over the ENTIRE CLASS, it can be very distracting. Paul Sobin solves both of my problem. In the class we would move from pose to pose, but he'd always mention the mistakes easily made. So when I'm doing the pose, even when he's not nearby to correct me, I could still keep in mind what to avoid. He offers a sweet mix of the physical and spiritual practice. For example when we start the slow breathing at the beginning of class, he'd mention how life is always busy and stressful, and it's good to take just a couple minutes to breathe slow and deep to give yourself a bit peace of mind. I really appreciate this. The series are pretty flexible - if you can't make it to the class you signed up for, you can do a make-up with any other series class Paul/ Sommer teach. Whatever leftover classes you haven't used in this series can be carried over to the next one. Students get a discount, which comes to $10 per class. This is quite an investment compared to the free gym, but I'd be happy to skip a weekend drink for this. People seem very nice, chill, and friendly as well. They also offer a week of classes free before the start of the series. The only con I can think of so far: The class can be crowded, to the point that the distance between you and the next mat is half a mat's width. Come 10 mins early to secure a good spot.

I especially love Amy's work outs... cardio and strengthening... all pilates.... and they are fun!! (btw they have 2 Amys... the owner - who also has great classes, but I mainly workout with the other Amy who does private sessions and semi-privates Mondays around noon). I haven't seen any teachers I wouldn't trust and love to work out with here.

The equipment and studio is spotless and comfortable. My trainer is the best and very well educated regarding the body and proper movement. The work out is properly tailored to challenge and strengthen. I love going here and only wish I'd started sooner. Working around my busy schedule has never been a problem. The owner is always present either training or leading a class, she hires the best trained/educated staff. She asked thorough questions to match me to the right trainer. I've never been so happy to exercise or enjoyed it so much. My background includes ballet, gymnastics (floor, balance beam and parallel bars) and tap dance. I've always been active either speed walking or swimming. Working with equipment is new to me and intimidating, no fear here the training is well supervised.

Love OTF.... but current Meadowmont OTF studio customer service sucks…read more After 18 months loving my OT Beat Link (Apple Watch heart rate monitor), I recently lost it. It was a great option for me so I bought a replacement OT Beat Link ($140) on Monday at Meadowmont which is currently my home studio. I finally *found* my lost OT Beat Link on Tuesday night (of course ;-), and then proceeded to return the never-used-still-in-the-box-with-all-the-parts new OT Beat Link on Wednesday morning at Meadowmont. I was informed there is a strict no return policy for all heart rate monitors... doesn't matter if the device is still in the box and has never been used. I hate to give the Meadowmont OTF studio a negative review. I have been an OTF member based at Meadowmont studio for over 8 years, and overall OTF is awesome. I wish current Meadowmont OTF management had better customer service, IMO they used to do much better. Luckily there are several OTF studio options in the area and I would highly recommend trying those over Meadowmont.... I have found the MLK OTF studio in Durham to be a superior option and there are a couple other studios in the Chapel Hill/Durham area.

I've been doing JAR Barre for more than a year, so it's time to share some opinions…read more First off, barre itself is a serious workout. Or it _can_ be, depending on your effort. This makes it fairly easy for beginners: the basic positions and movements are manageable by anyone, but intensity ramps up by dipping down a little lower, raising a leg a little higher, stretching a little farther, etc. If you really dig in, it can work you harder than any weight room session -- but you're always in control of that burn. As for Judy, she's vivid proof of barre's benefits and a constant inspiration. She's encouraging, observant, and provides discreet feedback/correction when form starts to stray. She's also terrific at keeping things interesting for regulars: maybe three-fourths of any workout will be familiar, but new challenges are always being introduced, which keeps us on our toes (sometimes literally). JAR Barre was the best thing I did for myself last year.

What makes Judy's class different from other barre classes is that she is a professional body builder. She knows exactly which movements will make the muscles defined and how the body needs to look balanced from head to toe. She has the ability to tailor the exercise to all skill levels, so everyone feels welcome no matter the abilities. Judy is also skilled in differentiating the exercises so we never repeat ourselves, no plateauing! She is motivating through leading by example, along with her very friendly demeanor. For many years I ran long distances, supported this training with yoga and boot camp, then added JAR barre a year ago. After just a few weeks I noticed the legs and glutes were more defined than ever before. I'm a believer! I throughly love her classes, will continue to practice with her 2-3xs a week and will join her to any studio where she teaches. Thank you JAR!

Since Nov., 2011, I have attended Betsy Templeton's yoga class at the Wholistic Health Studio…read more Previously, I was a yoga student at a local women's club for about 8 years in an excellent experience that established much of my knowledge about proper execution of yoga postures. After the club closed, a few years passed wherein I intermittently (for various reasons mostly due to my too busy schedule) participated at several good studios, and irregularly practiced yoga on my own, until I heard about the class at WHS. Betsy's class has been wonderful. She is knowledgeable about body mechanics and is an expert at making certain that each person in the class is doing the poses, breathing, etc. correctly at each stage of the session. She "pushes you hard" to NOT push beyond your capacity or your level of ability in a way that avoids injury and overstretching. This part of her practice is an important asset that is often underemphasized in yoga. My only complaint in this aspect of this class is that occasionally, the class has been too cautious about adding skill that would stretch you farther because some in the class are "not there yet", but in opposition to this complaint, Betsy encourages and gives each individual instruction and space to move farther, as you need and desire, beyond the demand of each posture. Additionally, Betsy's instruction in how to execute various poses has been beyond any I have had in other classes. She excels in her knowledge of proper form and in teaching that aspect. Perhaps my favorite aspect of her class is her emphasis on the meditative attitude she encourages you to employ as you undertake your practice and to carry out beyond the class space into your regular life. Speaking of space, the class space at the WHS is beautiful and extremely conducive to the meditative qualities hoped for in a yoga practice.

I love this place. A friend recommended it to me when after several months of constant lower back…read morepain I was having difficulty maintaining my life style. After a couple visits with Stewart I was virtually pain free. After just a couple sessions with staff learning to stretch properly I was in great shape and pain free. I was amazed. Since then I am able to work and zumba 4 classes a week, garden ,run. After injuring my shoulder Stewart and Melanie helped me rehab and strenghthen my upper body. Most recently I trained with Melanie to do a 5 k mud run and obstacle course for the second year. I was stronger and better by 7 minutes. Stewart and Melanie are totally my heros!!!
