Having done Bar Method in CA, I was like OMG OMG OMG Barre in MS!?! I literally grabbed my wallet in an INSTANT and signed up for a class. I'm totally glad i did! Everyone at the studio is suuper sweet and helpful, and talk about a kick butt work out! Your thighs will burn, and you will see results really quick! (That's what I'm all about!) Its a more pricey than your normal gyms, but when you have small class sizes, and RESULTS, its totally worth it. They are about to open another location in Jackson! (which is closer to my hotel) so I will be sad to not frequent the Ridgeland Location as much :( But if your in or around the Ridgeland/Rennesance/Madison area, check it out!!

I have been a regular at the Flowood Y for three years. I strength train there three days most…read moreweeks and do all my cardio the other 3-4 days per week if the weather keeps me indoors. The equipment is very well maintained and extensive. The indoor lap pool is very nice and not crowded during most of every day. The staff is amazing in all parts of the facility. I am not generally a group exercise fan but, if you are, the Flowood Y is your place to be. HIIT, Zumba, Yoga, Mat Palates, Reformer Palates, Body Sculpt, Step Aerobics, Spin, Barre, Kickboxing, Water Aerobics ... probably 100 classes per week--all included in your basic membership. I am also not a parent but know that the Flowood Y has child care (included with family membership) for your children age 6 months to 12 years, for up to 90 minutes a day while you work out. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the lack of a steam room, dry sauna, massage or laundry service but hey--its a YMCA--not Equinox. As Katie said, it is one of the nicest YMCA's you will ever see and at a small fraction of the Equinox price. Frankly, if you like any form of group exercise and/or are towing a kid around, I can't imagine you going anywhere else in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood or Brandon.

There is typically Mold & Black Slime all over the showers & nasty floors in wet area. Whirlpool is a joke as they don't turn the jets on, just sit there in the nasty ole tub with semi hot water. Soap/wet wipes/hand sanitizer Empty most of the time in multiple locations they have them. Steam Room is nasty. Obviously do not clean it regularly and the same for the dry heat Sauna, NASTY. A reputable Gym/Health Plex would at least keep it clean. Surely would be shut down if EPA inspected it most weekends. Other than wet area, the other facilities, weights, weight machines & equipment is satisfactory. Track is nice. Crowd is now tolerable, now that the basket ball courts are no more replaced with the pickle ball courts & work out area.
