I've been keen to try this place since seeing the first review of it, and thanks Alison, I wasn't disappointed! It's a GREAT coffee place with a very relaxed, alternative vibe. And oh, oh the coffee. I had one of this week's blends, a bean from Bali, and it was amazing. Smooth, not a hint of bitterness, yet with so much flavour! I was so tempted to go back to try the house blend, but I was wired already from the first cup and the chocolate ganache tart. My friend loved her vanilla honey chai, and I was tempted by that also. Another time! Their range of house-made savoury tarts looking amazing, with flavours like fig and blue cheese, or feta and butternut pumpkin, or goat's cheese and capsicum. They come with a side salad for $8.90 - something I am definitely trying next time around. The tart was very yummy, if a little simple - just a ganache filled pastry. I'm sure they could have hidden something interesting down the bottom, like a thicker layer of darker chocolate ganache. But still, it hit the spot. And they're paper free! The waiter offered to email my receipt, which promptly showed up as a PDF file in my inbox. Clever!

Yummy coffee and flavour filled breakfast however, the staff come across as standoffish and not overly friendly. I am fussy with my poached eggs and do not like runny whites (puts me off my meal). If you're the same I would recommend letting them know when you order to make sure your eggs are cooked the way you like them :) Great under cover outdoor area where you can dine with your pooch.

    Breakfast Bruschetta

I've been to Pure a few times now. It's a boutique coffee bar and cafe. I don't drink coffee, so can't comment on that aspect of it, but the food is great. My go-to item is the toasted banana bread with honeycomb butter, it's delicious! It is incredibly moist and the best banana bread I've ever had. They also do a range of juices/smoothies. I've only tried The Detox, but it was really nice. Had spinach in it ("yay, I'm being healthy!") but the flavour was masked by the fruits (apple, grape... etc). Today I tried the Breakfast Bruschetta, and it was great. Toasted ciabatta topped with napoletana sauce, parmesan, bacon, fried eggs, with roasted tomatoes and pesto on the side. The pesto was a vibrant green and looked like it was made in-house. The flavour was fresh, with a nice hit of garlic and it worked perfectly with the rest of the flavours in the dish (especially the nap sauce). A generous serve that filled me up. I would definitely order it again. The staff are friendly and have always been accommodating of us needing a high-chair, or having a bunch of prams (when I stop in with my mum's group). The decor is nice too. I noticed that the table numbers are small vinyl records, which is a nod to Krypton Discs (the iconic record store that occupied the building before Pure). Love little touches like that!

Another great place for a vego brekkie! Probably the best scrambled eggs I've had at a restaurant, so fresh & perfectly cooked. My meal also came with cornbread, which I had never had before- loved it! My partner was also very impressed with his meal, very generous amount of bacon. The only downside was that the coffees (while great) were much smaller than expected for the price.

BEST COFFEE. Hands down. Really that's all I need to say, but I'll go on. The only reason I didn't give my lovely local 5 stars is there are a few small things I'm not crazy about. First, the food is delicious! But, I sometimes think the prices are a bit expensive for the quantity of food. But I guess you are paying for quality not quantity here! They do change the menu up a bit every now and then, which I like, and keeps me coming back. I love the vibe of this place...I want their music playlist! Quite a large space, lots of tables inside and outside (still undercover). Sometimes some of the staff give a 'I don't care' attitude which could be improved but generally they are all pretty friendly.

Every time I'm in Adelaide I make it a priority to make a stop at Pure. Great atmosphere and decor down near the beach in Glenelg. Can always count on the coffee to be up to scratch, like this great Kenyan aeropress filter they do. Also a wonderful spot to hang out and enjoy breakfast, classic bacon & eggs, you can't go wrong! Also, they cater very well for gluten free options. And they have raw cakes. RAW CAKES!! (See picture) No sugar, no dairy. And it was amazing! So amazing I had to eat a bite BEFORE taking a photo

Good coffee here and a great atmosphere.

Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Sit down or takeaway. Really there isn't much more to say except tip your wait staff and smile.

We were going to go to some Italian place down the esplanade by the hotel but we sussed out the menu and it looked great at a decent enough price. After ordering we sat down, talked a little, and waiting about 45 minutes to get our food. Obviously it was Easter Monday, so they were slammed by hungry/thirsty customers, so I could forgive. As soon as I tasted the food I was blown away and forgave them more; I had the Big Breakfast and they were happy to substitute the bread for spinach. This place is like a hipster's wet-dream come to life. The table numbers are on old records, some stools had pedals on them, and it had a whole wood-grainy natural veganesque vibe. The only gripe I had was the $10.20 cup of vanilla tea. I went to the bathroom and told the party to surprise me with whatever tea looked good. I mean, I would've spat it out in shock as I sipped it upon return if it weren't worth about $1 per 25ml. Sure, it was damn delicious.. but $10+ for a cup of tea?! Madness! I hope some vegan is out the back subsisting on only tea-leaves & vanilla pods to 'grind-it-out-naturally', because it's now 10:40pm and i'm still not over it.

Nice collection of drinks for a coffee place!

So hip, it hurts! We enjoyed our breakfast here but the overdone poached eggs on my Benedict were disappointing. The hollandaise on the other hand was great. All other breakfasts on our table were quite good, including the Slider and the Big breakfast. The highlight was the gorgeous and and absolutely delicious Meat Bruschetta. Sooooo much flavor! Overall, this is a solid 4 star place, but non-soft poached eggs are an automatic one star reduction in my book.

    Smelt and tasted fantastic! (:

I normally call in here, for two reasons only, when a few other local cafe's are closing/not open or simply to enjoy the vibe of the place. The way everything is set up is fantastic, by far the most impressive part about PURE. There's vintage bicycles, a cool little layed back couch area towards the back and although the place is somewhat small, the way everything is set out makes it feel rather spacious! The house coffee is of okay stature, not the best in my opinion, but most definitely of drinking standard. The particular blends they offer seemed of interest and smelt rather inviting; I might have to try one next time. I'll be back, there is no doubt about that!

NEWSFLASH- Funky New Retro Cafe takes Glenelg to a whole new level of Cool! Just opened today, Pure is headed up by two baristas that used to work together at Gloria Jeans in Glenelg. Warwick, and Seb are a few of the partners that run Pure. They have done a fantastic fit out, that has an organic, cool retro feel. Beautiful glossy hard wood floors combine with black walls and chalkboards. A seating area out the back has the feel of a 70's lounge room, complete with yellow curtains. It is good to see something a little different, it reminds me a little of Melbourne Cafes. They have done a great job sourcing unique teas, coffees and chais. Their gourmet tea range is hand made in the Barossa Valley, the wine roses seems to be a popular brew. They also have an interesting selection of hot chocolate including African Red, orange and organic. The food looks great too not that I have sampled any yet. I went in on opening day and the whole vibe was pretty chilled. I think music choice is really important in creating atmosphere and they have certainly chosen well with a selection of jazz funk style, relaxing but still with a beat. I can see this being the go to place for the in crowd. I sat back on the retro lounge soaking up the atmosphere sipping my latte. The coffee was rich and flavoursome and I was told they have three different roasters and a house blend. I am looking forward to heading back here to sample more of their wonderful variety of drinks. Well done boys!!

    Breakfast pizza!!

Visited on two occasions now and this is my opinion so far. Pros and cons: Cons: Staff weren't overly friendly. Customer service is kinda poor. Coffee was average. Pancakes... Those shake and bakes tasted better. Has a very pretentious feel. Pros: Breakfast pizza is pretty delicious. Place is nicely decorated (but does come off as pretentious) Food is presented beautifully. Bacon was awesome! I am going to try this place one last time and if it improves I'll keep you posted!

    Crispy pork belly
    Hannah K.

I've been to Pure a few times, for a variety of reasons. I have actually never tried the coffee! So no help there. I first popped in after work one evening (as they stay open quite late) to get a small sweet treat. Two macarons later and I was unimpressed. They were super sickly sweet, a bit crunchy and stale and not very flavoursome. Disappointed, but I do have a high level of expectation for my macarons. Give me some L'aduree anyday. The second visit was again later on in the evening for coffee with family. I really like the decor, lots of fun focus points such as wall art, vintage bicycles and a variety of themed seats. Its definitely a friendly vibe from the staff members as well! Although busy, they did help out with making me a dairy free hot chocolate. Service was quick, and attentive (my mother hates her tea strong and they checked up on her). The third time was last week, but this time to try out the food menu! Not a huge menu, but with quite a variety, seems to be catering to many different needs of their patrons (I.e. some sharing things, some big plate individual meals). And it was great! The kitchen wasnt even open yet when we ordered a duck pate, crispy pork belly and duck breast with beetroot. Mum was super hungry, and when I tried to buy her something from the front cabinet to tide her over until kitchen was open the staff were exceptional AND friendly when they told me not to worry, they would organise the pate to come out asap! For a hungry and grumpy mother this was a lifesaver and was much appreciated! Best pate we've ever had, so creamy and light. The pork belly and duck breast were also melt in the mouth beautiful and the accompaniments were yummy! The white wine sangria we had with this was sweet and refreshing with lots of fresh fruit. Just top notch. All in all fantastic, just a star off for the terrible macarons from the first visit!
