Snobby weather, from browsing to purchase ... This used to be a chain pharmacy, a smaller version of a Pharmasave that stocked the essentials. Someone got the idea to renovate the space into an Integrative Holistic Mandala Pharmacy full of $100 face creams, locust juice kidney tonics, and plenty of woo. If you're into that kind of thing, you'll find all the jojoba soap you'd like to find, even if it's not from brands you're familiar with. As far as a pharmacy for filling prescriptions, I can't say. I went in to get some rubbing alcohol, as I need to IM inject for a medical condition. The labcoat person immediately made jokes as to whether or not I planned on drinking it there. Har har--you don't have me laugh, guv. As for the cashier -- a quintessential specimen of all that has become pretentious in Kitsilano's strange combination of Buddhism and Botox -- a more snobby person you wouldn't find. Customer service matters. Friendly service matters. Why patronize a shop that acts patronizingly towards you? There are plenty of friendly alternative pharmacies in the area. I'm hesitant to update my review because I like Pure as it is and don't want to see it growing crowded. But my husband just got back from his medical specialist who told him she too, liked dealing with this pharmacy, so I need to give credit where it's due. We've been going here regularly since my first review and we only like it all the more. We've had better advice and personal service here than any other pharmacy ever. The owner and head pharmacist are efficient and professional, yet gracious. It's a pleasure, not a chore, dealing with them. I could go on and on but that would be gushing! I wish all businesses could be this easy to deal with - intelligent, comprehensive interactions, decent prices and higher quality merchandise and environment right down to the interior air their employees and customers have to breathe.(it's actual air, not air mixed with "air fresheners") Well done, Pure. read more

I made the switch from a chain pharmacy due to the exception, personalized service I received from Dorothy at Pure Pharmacy on 4th Ave. All of the staff are friendly, fast and most importantly take an interest in their customers. My husband and I were going on a live-a-board dive trip and very concerned about getting seasickness. Our doctor provided a prescription and Pure was also able to suggest some alternate preventative non-drug approaches. In the end, the preventative items they suggested did the trick and my husband didn't end up taking the prescription drugs. I have recommended Pure to a number of my friends and very happy to have such a wonderful alternative to the chain pharmacies in Vancouver. read more

I was in here awhile ago with the intention of filling an RX. When I had some questions regarding some natural treatments for my condition the pharmacist just told me to speak to their natural health consultant who was not available at that time which is fine. But what really got me was the pharmacist seemed to not know much about anything natural for my condition and in fact seemed kind of skeptical about the remedy I was inquiring about. I am not so sure if I am going to come back here. I ended up taking my RX to Finlandia and Gaia Garden and got exceptional service. read more

I've been using this pharmacy since I moved into the neighbourhood almost 6 years ago. The staff has always been kind to me and have helped me in many ways. A couple of times over the years, they have provided a review of my medications for me, they have watched to make sure my medications are all a 'fit' for my various health conditions. Since I've been unable to get to the store, they have delivered my medications to me. This is the first time I've felt as if I have a real relationship with the pharmacists and the other staff that works there. I'm so happy they are there. read more

Came in to the store to get a filter for my alkaline water filter. The young man that helped pick one out with me was well informed and polite, easy going. I hate when sales people push their views on you and this guy was NOT like that. I don't like to spend a lot of time in stores so it was a quick transaction and I appreciated his promptness. Will certainly be back when we need more filters and allocate more time to look around at other products :) read more

This is the only pharmacy I have ever been to where I have made a connection with the pharmacist and staff. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Dorothy is an amazing pharmacist and person, who cares about her clients. The other members of the staff are equally as friendly, although I have dealt with them a lot less and have my reservations about naturopathic medicine. Pure is a great pharmacy which does compounding, carries quality, progressive supplements and medications, and has knowledgeable staff. The perfect place to go if you don't want the usual substandard supplements that most pharmacies carry or if you want knowledgeable, alternative support other than that the medical industry usually promotes. I have always found the staff very helpful, caring, personable and committed to individual care. Bob the owner is fantastic. Go see him if you want a pharmacist you can trust. read more

I go out of my way to go to this particular location, though there is another much closer to me that I've never tried. Why? Pharmacist Dorothy is wonderful. She is a great listener, making thoughtful suggestions and making sure I have the knowledge I need. She is generous with her time, yet still efficient, and I've noticed makes everyone feel heard and attended to. I'm off to go there now, in fact. First pharmacist ever who I've really enjoyed dealing with as well as trusted (I haven't met the owner). The store itself is very well stocked, and I get most of my supplements there. Customer service from everyone is great, unlike some other natural pharmacies in the city. read more

Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a retail establishment. I went in there with my toddler and he grabbed a box of crackers. As I was chasing him around the store he opened the cardboard box. The pharmacist and cashier obliged me to buy the crackers, which is ok in normal circumstances, but these crackers were $10. When I asked if I could not purchase them, she told me "he will like them, they are not spicy" - who unashamedly sells $10 crackers. I am sure everything in this store is overpriced, not only will they over price pharmaceuticals but they are pharmacists without compassion. Your nearby alternatives are Jericho Beach Pharmacy right around the corner at Alma and 4th. Good luck Kits. Too bad this smaller retailer is missing compassion, but great news, there are options right around the corner. Vote with your dollars. read more

They look pissed off that they are disturbed in their reveries by having to deal with customers. They seem in Lala Land and kind of passive aggressive. It's surprising they are so full of themselves, considering they don't really have many customers. Overall, as is the case with many local businesses, they need to learn more professional customer relations skills. Look at how Americans or Shoppers Drug Mart deal with customers and learn something. Too bad they're so near my house; going to use other pharmacies anyway. read more
