Accidentally came upon this cigar place. The owners and their family are there and made you feel very comfortable. I loved the old world feel of secret doors and niches that we couldn't see. Wow....where to start?.....finding out very quickly that people here are genuinely happy. Sorry but this is rare in the States....it's that kind of happiness that someone has after they just finally got the car they've always wanted....or seeing a close friend you haven't seen in years.... The old people (woman and man) were very kind and willing to help. My Spanish isn't exactly fluent but they showed me around and made recommendations. There was a cool little dog there that all the local residents seem to know and would greet the puppy along with the owners. I'm not an avid cigar smoker but opportunities like this rarely exist considering these cigars are are illegal in the U.S.. Wonderful experience....this entire trip has made me feel so alive. read more

One of my favorite stops in Mexico City! Hubby and I popped in here while on vacation, since we were in search for good, quality cigars. Took a short Uber to get here, so easy accessible! Upon walking in, instantly greeted. The gentleman here was helpful in selecting and letting us browse. We of course had to snag a Cuban here (can't purchase in the US, but can bring them back with us), along with a few others. All three men were friendly and chatting with us during our visit into the store. We asked for matches, but they were out, but one of the men gave us the few he had left of his personal stash- what great customer service! El Cigarrito is an excellent cigar shop in the Roma neighborhood of Mexico City. They have a wide selection of quality, authentic Cuban, Nicaraguan, Dominican and Mexican cigars. I purchased a total of about 6 different Cuban cigars from the store so far, and each cigar was a great smoke. Enrique provided great advice and recommendations based on my preferences. I appreciated how carefully he selected each cigar I purchased to make sure it was not too tightly rolled. I've checked out a few cigar stores and lounges in this city and El Cigarrito is definitely one of the best. read more

My source for Cuban cigars while in Mexico! This place is legit- they have a variety of cigars that you'd find back home in the states, and plenty of stoagies that you won't find due to the ongoing diplomatic strife from the 50's. As of this writing, there's not exactly an embargo of Cuban cigars in the United States, it's just that at this point, you can't buy them. However, you are allowed to come back with up to 100 Cuban cigars without paying a duty or tax. The cigars here aren't cheap- they have the brands that you'd come to expect from a fine tobacco shop- Cohiba, Romeo y Julieta, Tatajue- just to name a few. The boxes still have their hologram tax stamps on them so you can assume that they're legit, and not some fakes made by a guy out of the back of his van. The clerk spoke perfect English, and was quite helpful in choosing the right cigar, and making sure they got home intact. They also had a friendly dog that everyone local who stopped in seemed to know. It was a great shopping experience, and felt like a privilege to get such great help on such fantastic cigars. The closest cigar shop to my Airbnb and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Service was friendly and attentive and the prices were great. I stopped by for some Cubans for myself and as gifts. Also love the building, it's got a Flatiron building in NYC thing going on as it's located on a funky corner. read more
