Old fashioned burgers that have been made with the same great quality since I've had them from 35 years ago, I also really enjoy their fish and chips. Most of all, I really love their onion rings! They are coated with thin layer crispy breading and fried until the onions are soft and sweet, perfect with the special pink sauce they got since the first time I've had it. Inside of the restaurant has their signature perple color scheme and is always clean and well maintained. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I stopped by Purple Turtle for lunch and ordered the Turtle Pastrami Burger. The flavors were solid and it definitely hit the spot, but I was hoping for more pastrami on the sandwich. Next time I'll probably add extra. The patty itself was thinner than I expected, but everything still came together nicely overall. The drive-in setup can be a little tricky to figure out if it's your first time here. I had placed a mobile order and tried to pick it up through the drive-thru, but the process seemed to confuse the staff a bit. Not a major issue, just something to note. read more

It's been a very long time since I've eaten at purple turtle and it hasn't changed a bit, it was so nostalgic walking in. Now, is the food amazing? No, but it's not bad! Just a classic burger place. The fries are mid but they've got good ranch which makes up for it. We also ordered their sweet potato fries, my husband liked them, and I thought they were just fine. The soda wasn't that great, they've got one of those soda dispensers where multiple drinks come out of the same nozzle & the drinks never taste right to me. What a cute little burger joint! A friend of ours joined us for dinner before going to the Haunted Forest in AF. I will say that the food is on point! But if you're in a hurry, make sure you give yourself some extra time as things are cooked fresh, so it takes a little bit longer. We stopped in here for dinner before heading to the theater nearby. We love little holes in the wall places with silly names and this place was super cute, very clean with amazingly friendly staff. The burgers were good, I wasn't a fan of the fries, they tasted like they were cooked in oil with fish, but that's OK the shake more than made up for it. Again, super friendly staff. My wife and I were invited to the Purple Turtle by two good friends. Along with the eclectic name, it has an eclectic "Arctic Circle" vibe, but much better in many respects. Even with the lunch rush, the spacious booths were always kept clean. My wife, Mrs. "white glove" said the bathrooms looked and smelled amazingly clean. Food was delivered to our table promptly so all the food was fresh and hot. This restaurant serves a broad mix of burgers, sandwiches and best of all, excellent fish and chips. Pleasant Grove obviously has a very nostalgic view of this restaurant. When I took a picture of the exterior people in the drive-through were telling us how great the food was, and not to pass it up because of the funky color scheme. I'm glad we didn't. I had a pastrami burger with an excellent marinated salad on top with a side of very crisp tater tots. My wife got the halibut and tots, which you can also get with French fries or English chips. The burgers were good with an interesting tangy sauce, lettuce and tomato. The tater tots were still crunchy, even when they cooled. The halibut looked greasy, but was not. The fish was moist and properly cooked. All told I would give the Purple Turtle a very good review. JUST BARELY...2 stars... barely..! I was told a few months back to try the burgers here.. So I tried... Not impressed at all.. The buns are nice.. but asking me if I want my patty to be 1/8 or 1/4 inch.. wow.. I ordered 3 drinks.. 2 fountain and 1- shake.... You would think they would give me a carrying case or holder..? Great shakes with tons of flavors to choose from. Warning shakes are way over the top and so thick & delicious. So sad that they changed the bun on the fish sandwich. Now it's served on a more dense roll similar to a ciabatta roll. To much bread to fish ration. I will not get this in the future. Doesn't pair well. Fish n chips are hit and miss. Most of the time it is good but it can be greasy. I really like that you can get fries, English chips, onion rings or tater tots. It comes with Texas toast, yum and all the fixings. read more

The Food: I know this place is known for their burgers and shakes, and from what I saw other diners eating, I totally agree. However on my visit I had the Halibut and Chips. For some reason they serve this with cocktail sauce, I traded that in for tartar sauce. I could eat my weight in this tasty battered fried yumminess. I would happily eat the Tartar sauce by itself. I really enjoyed this, and I don't usually get fish in a fast food/diner type place. I would happily drive down from Salt Lake to get this again! My Partner had the Chicken Sandwich, which he said was "pretty ok". He, being a French Fry man loved the crispy and perfectly salty fries. The Staff: Props to the manager and staff that can train teenagers to be nice to customers. They were all friendly and super helpful. The Restaurant: Very typical of an Utah County dinner/fast food place. Noisy, lots of kids, nothing the restaurant can do about that, especially since it's a great way to feed your kids well prepared food. The tables were clean and there seemed to be an effort by the staff to keep them that way. Summary: I'm trying to determine in my mind how far I'd drive to eat at this place again, 40 minutes for me is worth it. I used to drive down there to get Chubby's (a block away) all the time, but the Purple Turtle is my new place in Utah County for tasty way to get dinner and a pretty lovely drive in the spring. for starters tonight 8/19/25 I ordered a corn dog with a regular onion ring. get to the window continue to sit there for15 minutes to just get handed onion rings. I then mention there should be a corn dog and the cashier working tonight around 6:45 came to window and said "is there an issue" with a very aggressive tone. some great customer service if you ask me! I also then pulled forward to wait patiently for my corn dog and it was another 20 minutes before it made it out!! the employees need a new training ot something but I would Recommend taco amigo just down the road. way better service and better food for your buck. read more

I feel like I need to update my review. I still love Purple Turtle. Always will. But, they have made some minor changes since the last time I went and I'm not a fan of those changes. The biggest change? No more combo meal pricing. Everything is a la carte. Which, of course, makes the meal even more expensive than it used to be (we all know that PT is quite pricey, this just makes it a little worse). So, my visits to the PT will now just have to be fewer and far between. Fortunately, there are many amazing burger options now in PG. read more

The Purple Turtle has great milkshakes and is worth the visit. We got the Kiddie shake which is the smallest size but for a small shake it is big. I love when a milkshake tastes like chocolate and they made it extra chocolate for me which was fantastic. There tater tots were good. Maybe it was just too hyped up for me, but I was extremely disappointed by my Purple Turtle experience. Late afternoon on a weekday it was pretty quiet, plenty of open tables and we got our order quickly. While it did seem clean, the low lighting and just overall setting gave the place a grimey, run-down atmosphere. I got the coconut cream pie shake, I love coconut ice cream and was ready to love this. However what I received was just vanilla ice cream with nilla wafers. Not even crushed up wafers, just the whole cookie thrown right in. There was probably 3-4 of them in there. No coconut flavor at all. The meal was okay. The chicken was good - I loved their ranch - but my fries were hard, undercooked, and just had no flavor. The bread was meh. My dad said he didn't really like the halibut. I thought the price was insane for the three tiny pieces of fish he received. Honestly, the price was bad all together for the quality of food we received. This meal cost roughly $40. I'm not sure if there's really any other "diner" like places in the area, but I think you'd have a more pleasant experience at someplace like Dairy Queen or Arctic Circle. read more

After driving past this odd, purple-roofed building a few times, I decided to stop in and give it a try. We went through the drive through, not realizing it was open inside. Ordered two 3-piece chicken meals. After waiting a good amount of time and being asked to pull forward, we were given halibut meals. I pulled out the receipt and realized we were charged for the halibut, even though we'd ordered chicken. We took it inside (realized they were open) and explained the confusion. They were kind enough to replace the halibut with the preferred chicken, but didn't refund the difference. (A chicken meal is nine bucks and change. Halibut is almost 13.) The food was good, but I didn't much care for the fries. They were very greasy and crunchy. The flavor was almost solely grease. The chicken strips were large and flavorful. And piping hot! However, the star of the show was the milkshake, which my son ordered. I took a small bite as "mom tax" and instantly wished I'd ordered one for myself. It was very good. We will return, probably not for the fries, but definitely for the shakes. read more

i used to work at this establishment. all the bad reviews making assumptions are true. all the oil in the fryers where reused sometimes not changed for half a year. the owner and managers ability to be kind sucked never accommodated for special needs employees whom they had a lot of. KEY WORD HAD. the building was an old run down cockroach nest i swear there where a few nests in the ceiling. everyone i know now knows about how bad the diner is and knows about all the drama that goes on. Such purple. Very food. So wow. I remember driving past this place all the time and thinking some day, I'll actually get to try it out. There's something so enticing about it all. The name, the colors, the general vibe. Purple Turtle is a cozy joint that serves a variety of comfort foods that you would find in a typical mom and pop cafe. You'll find that many flock here to chill with friends or for family get-togethers, and it will get quite loud (the acoustics are terrible, which literally amplifies the problem). POSITIVES: after having visited this spot multiple times, I have to say, the shakes are much better than I had remembered. The best way I can describe it is like a McFlurry but with way more fix-ins. They seriously do not skimp on the chocolates and candies. The golden fries are delicious, crispy, and a great size. Some other foods that are worth trying: their chicken tenders - wonderful golden crispy fried chicken with a great thickness to the actual breading. It makes me really want to come back and try their spicy chicken sandwich. The onion rings - these surprised me with how tasty they were. Their pink sauce (their version of fry sauce) had great flavor, but needed a bit more ketchup for my taste, then it was perfect. The decor itself creates a fun, inviting, and modern atmosphere. NEGATIVES: The Jalapeño Bacon burger that I ordered was the only real issue I had with the food. Most of their burgers are 1/4 lb, served with a bun that looked like a flat, white kaiser roll (the kind that is dusted with cornmeal). There's no doubt the patties were frozen, which isn't a huge issue. But it lacked any real flavor. It felt meager for a quarter pound, I'd have been way dissatisfied if I had ordered one of their 1/8 lb cheeseburgers, but that's arguably a perfect size for a child. Back to the flavor... I could hardly taste the pepper jack cheese. The bacon lacked any substance, and thus you miss all that flavor. The burger seemed to be overpowered by a mountain of jalapeño, almost as if they were aware and we're trying to hide the fact that the burger lacked flavor. PRICE: about $8-15 per meal. RECOMMENDED: chicken tenders. Any of their shakes. They offer sweet potato fries if you're into that. Onion rings! read more

Purple Turtle is a landmark in Pleseant Grove, Ut. The big purple turtle sign in the sky on that obscure corner with the weirdest parking lot and black rock walls. I got their fresh Banana Oreo Shake and I was so happy with my choice! I asked for it to be chunky so I could see the bananas and Oreos. Isn't it lovely!? Now let's talk fries: I love French fries. The perfect fry is crispy and perfectly salty on the outside yet reveals a soft steamy potato on the inside. Purple Turtle's are just that. They were the perfect warm, savory match to the cold, sweet ice cream. I was very impressed when I took my first bite! NOTE: The only thing I don't like is their fry sauce.
