Wee Nam Kee in Singapore is great. It is legitimately one of the best places to get Hainanese…read moreChicken Rice. With the local franchise however, something became lost in translation. You don't really know what could have gone wrong. Could it be the change in water, chicken, or spices? Either way, it just doesn't taste the same, which is a shame. If you're going to eat the Hainanese Chicken Rice without the Singapore perspective (or turn a blind eye) however, the local version quickly turns decent. For some reason that really boggles the mind, we just can't copy chicken rice for the life of us. So if you're hankering for some chicken rice, you might as well go to Wee Nam Kee because they have the whole formula down. Just order, drink your soup, put some chili and ginger on your chicken, and eat. This'll be the closest you'll get outside of Singapore so it isn't that bad.

My family happens to be in that chamba moment when another group as massive as ours is about to leave. The interiors of the place are adorable. It comes with numerous knick knacks that add a distinct charm to this branch which is unfortunately not as visible with the wave of people constantly in and out of the area. My kid is always tempted to touch everything on display and it can be frustrating chasing after her in a crowded restaurant. We will forever and ever always order the Personal Set of Steamed Hainanese Chicken which comes with an addicting but extremely sinful chicken rice, sides of veggies and a clear broth. Their mango shake isn't too sweet either so it's perfect for kids who need to wind down for their afternoon naps. One star less because of the crowds and the stress it brings to a haggard parent.

I ordered the Kung Pao tofu and the set meal of bagoong rice with vegemeat, but they were out on the tofu dish. This was good as the bagoong rice platter was massive. I've traveled around the Philippines and haven't had many vegan dishes but for the occasional tokwat (tofu) dish. So to get a dish that was veganized was pretty amazing. Somehow they were able to make this traditional dish minus the shrimp paste. Its slightly sweet and yet savory taste had me going back for more. The green mango on top was the clincher for me. It was so good and affordable. I definitely recommend this place to any vegan, vegetarian and don't worry carnivores. There's plenty on the menu for you, too.

Sentosa is one of the very few Singaporean restaurants here in the Philippines. When I went here…read morefor the very first time, I was totally clueless and I didn't know what to expect from Singaporean food. I am always willing to try out different Asian cuisines so I thought it would be an absolutely wonderful idea to go here to check out the different types of dishes that they have to offer. The first time I went to Sentosa, I immediately noticed that almost all of the dishes they serve have curry in them. I am not particularly fond of curry or anything spicy so I was a little bit reluctant to order. I just wanted to slowly get out of the restaurant without ordering, but my friend was too shy to move from her seat. I had no choice so I just ordered their Singaporean Roast Chicken. After sitting for about 15 minutes, my food finally came. My mouth immediately began to drool as the waiter brought our order. It looked absolutely amazing! I could already tell just by looking at it that I'd be full by the end of the meal. The roasted chicken was so soft and tender that it could literally melt in your mouth. Good thing my friend stopped me from leaving Sentosa. It would have been such a big loss if I just left without even tasting their food.

He keeps on insisting on taking me to places that serve spicy food, and I keep exerting my dominance (heh) because I do not want my mouth burning from a thousand different spices. Sometimes, though, I let him have his way, which is how we ended up eating at Sentosa. I was reluctant to order since everything on the menu seemed spicy, but I finally caved and ordered their laksa with a whole lot of rice on the side to deaden the heat. It turned out to be a moot point since you can ask the staff to lay off the spices, which made my laksa oh-so-delicious. Ah, good help is so hard to find nowadays so when you do, never let them go.
