I have trusted Dr. Pylko with my mental health for 20 years. I would not be alive today if it were not for this brilliant, caring, and hard-working physician. Despite my many setbacks in life, he has stuck with me, giving me the personal attention that my complicated psychiatric case needed. He was there when I single parented my two children as a working professional, when my son died tragically, and when my daughter lost her life, leaving me childless and alone. He is constantly searching out new treatment modalities to help keep my chronic acute depression at bay, which has resulted in a surprisingly stable and healthy life for me despite the many challenges I have faced. I have been a patient of Dr. Pylko's for 27 years and I can not imagine having a better doctor. I met him after a severe manic episode which was the beginning of a very long journey with bipolar disorder which really never exactly fit to him. It was debilitating and he was always there to not just prescribe meds but also listen to my problems and was also a great therapist. He has seen me at my lowest and highest and he always showed up at the psych hospital every day. We tried every med but nothing worked. This was also over twenty years ago so they didn't have the same meds or treatments that they do now. My symptoms never presented as completely bipolar but possible schizoaffective disorder but he still didn't think that was exactly the right fit. From the strange symptoms I was having he started to wonder if I might also have a neurological disorder which it turned out I did after I had a seizure in a restaurant. He had me on an anti seizure med that at the time was thought to work for bipolar. He had figured out from my symptoms ahead of time that I was most likely having a partial seizure when I would have hallucinations even though I knew they weren't real. Dr. Pylko at one time said I was an enigma as he had never quite seem symptoms like these before. He is truly the best psychiatrist and person I have ever met. He truly knows that what he is doing. He never gave up on me after so many suicide attempts I can't remember. He was never judgemental. He got me on the drug which keeps me not only sane but seizure free and he also recommended me to an amazing neurologist. I recently had a serious episode of depression due to my mother getting dementia and nothing else was working but Dr. Pylko told me about Ketamine IV treatments which in a few treatments which were very pleasant my depression was gone and it seems like not many people out there who could use it know about it. I owe Dr.Pylko my life and it is now a life worth living, all thanks to this kind, amazing doctor! I would recommend him to anyone who needs help. Horribly unethical doctor, charged a personal associate of mine under involuntary hold at an in network facility without his consent under the impression he was charging his insurance while incapacitated and made him liable and sent him to collections. Did not offer any real help only tried to upswell his services for his own clout. Do not trust, disgustingly unethical, fraudulent behavior found when looking further into this doctor. Dr. Pylko, MD over prescribes psychiatric medication. He is paid in the hundreds of thousands by various pharmaceutical companies. He does not take insurance for his private sessions and charges the outlandish price of $350.00 per one hour session. He prescribed me SSRIs for over a quarter of a century and this has led to my having severe Xerostomia (dry mouth) and now due to this I have basically lost all of my own teeth, my gums and dental bone are diseased and I need all new teeth. Dr. Pylko believes that he is not in any way responsible for this and the only way I will get any type of payment unless I sue him. He has always upped my medication dosages and had me on high levels of psychiatric medications. The minute I found out from my dentist that my teeth loss, diseased gums, and dental bone rot were due to SSRIs, I immediately stopped taking the 60 mg of Prosac that he had been prescribing me forever and I had absolutely no withdrawal symptoms, which tells me I did not need this medication. He has violated my HIPAA rights by texting me personal information and emailing me (from his personal email to mine) inappropriate emails revealing personal information about me. When I confronted him about this, he told me that "I thought we had this "special relationship". He, for the most part, has stopped texting me to cover himself, but then started emailing me, which he did not have permission to do. During one of my sessions, he fell sound asleep at the beginning of my session and slept for most of it. When I confronted him about it, he yelled at me nd stated, "Okay I will write off that session, but from now on you will pay me my full price!" His fee is $350.00 an hour and he calls me his "Discount Patient", as he was charging me $300.00. I thought this was outlandish to punish me for his egregious behavior (falling asleep at the beginning of my session). Thus far, he has failed to pay me back for the session that he mostly slept through. He is a pill pusher. He has received this year alone, almost $155,000.00 from various pharmaceutical companies and was reimbursed for over $18,000.00 for food and beverage. Dr. Pylko is an avid drinker and I can only presume he used some of this money to restock his own personal wine and liquor cabinets. He also has a Trust Fund and Trust Funds require that one has at least $100,000. and own several lucrative real estate properties. He also over sharing way too much. He said to me, "If I don't make $100,00.00 from this practice every month, I'm not making any money", So I am supposed to have empathy for him if annually he doesn't make 1.2 million a year from his private practice? I think not. He multi-tasks during my sessions, texting on his cell phone, saying it's the hospital (Las Encinas) and it totally breaks the therapeutic process. He plans on continuing to practice until age 70 (he will be 68 this year). Frankly, I believe he should retire much sooner. When I started seeing him in the fall of 1995, I put my trust and faith in him. Way back in the day, he used to care, but now it is all about the money and pill pushing, as he is paid handsomely by various drug companies when he prescribes medication. He double dips his income by being in a session with me and texting the hospital. He denies receiving kickbacks from drug companies, saying that he only does a lecture here and there. During many of my sessions, the major focus was on his issues, 2 knee replacements, catract surgeries in both eyes and several sessions where he moaned and complained about his getting older and cannot work as long as he used to. He dictates his notes and does not use HIPAA requirements for his texting. His office assistant has sent me a number of emails and failed to encypt the attachments that were sent to me. He texted me while being under the influence of anesthesia and heavy pain killers after a knee replacement surgery. His texting was totally unprofessional and unethical, why he was even texting me soon after his surgery (he was on a medical leave from Las Encinas) is beyond me. Also, after the session that he mostly slept through, in his next session with me he stated, "You don't need to worry about me, I took a double dose of Provigil today (Provigil is a controlled substance). I am an LMFT and had friends ask me, "Doesn't he give you Professional Courtesy Price for your sessions?" I told them that Dr. Pylko doesn't even know what this is and even if he did he would not do it, as he is all about the money. He makes millions at year: 1. Private Practice, 2. Medical Director at Las Encinas, 3. Partner and Executive Director at PCH Treatment Center, 4. large amounts of money from various drug companies, and has a large Trust Fund. He outlived his usefulness many years ago and no longer personally cares about his patients. I met Dr. Pylko while in-patient and our relationship started out tumultuous. I was mistrustful of him, his medication, and his diagnosis. BOY O BOY, DID HE EARN MY TRUST. Working with me over 3 months he found me a medication routine that worked, was available almost 24/7 by phone, helped me find an amazing therapist, and pulled strings to get me into an amazing treatment center. You can do no better than Dr. Pylko if you have bipolar disorder (can't speak to any other diagnosis). His one downfall is he doesn't take insurance, but it is fucking worth it. read more

Buyer Beware. It's a matter of public record, that Dr. Pylko has a very cozy relationship with many pharmaceutical companies & he's also the Executive Director of "Las Encinas," a private hospital. In my opinion, these factors have financially incentivized him to engage in reckless polypharmacy. Fortunately, I had the good sense to rip up the scripts he gave me and do a bit of research about why he seemed to be mistaking me for a lab rat. The review below is completely wrong. It is not the Dr.'s obligation to call the patient. It is the patient's responsibility to follow up with her doctor. Receiving a care letter is much more than most doctors will do. He would definitely have looked for a new med if that one was causing bad effects. I tried 3 different meds until we found a good combination. You can also call him any time day or night if you have an emergency. I have been a patient for 8 years and would not have made it through without Dr. Pylko. He works closely with me, and I have always been impressed and appreciative that he talks with me about how the things in my life are going, how the meds are helping, if I am seeing my therapist and then has a meds check. That "therapist" aspect of my meetings were surprising at first, and I love that part. There is another review that also states these facts, and I don't know why it is not shown. But it is a much more adequate explanation of his services. If you need a psychiatrist, you cannot do any better than Dr. Pylko! read more

Doctor Pylko does not come across as a mean person. It is just quite obvious that he does not personally care about his patients. I have suffered with a severe eating disorder for which Dr. Pylko prescribed various anti-depressants, etc. One of them affected me vary adversely, sending me into a deep depression. I cancelled an appointment with him during this time, and basically crawled under a rock. The only follow up I received from him was a stock note in the mail saying he wouldn't be able to continue prescribing to me if I didn't make another appointment. By then I was in a severe depression from the meds and didn't recognize they were the cause. If Dr. Pylko had taken his work more seriously he might have considered monitoring the patient part of his job. I decided to walk away and stop going to him about eight months ago and haven't heard a single word from him since. This is the reason why some feel that psychiatrists are just prescribers of drugs and nothing more. I tend to agree at this point. read more
