When I first went here I got a gel overlay and the quality was great for the price. However, when I returned to get it removed they repeat used acetone and a drill over and over severely ultimately damaging my nails and making them painfully thin. Shocked. Shocked at how wonderful my pedicure was! I was a walk in, and I'm usually very hesitant about these 'walk in welcome' places, but this place was and is amazing. It's spotless, and the staff are all adorable. My $35 pedicure was quiet honestly, the BEST one I've had in a reeeeeeeallly long time. The polish job was perfect, and the shaping was spot on. I can't still barely believe it! They didn't even rush me out. They had me sit with my little perfect toes under the drier for a long time - with a stack full of NEW mag's. I was in heaven. I have to admit. My leg massage. I could actually feel my eyes rolling back into my head. The tv was on softly, and the radio was set to a chill station. They use OPI and Essie nail polish. It' s miracle! None of those dollar store crappy gooey messed up nail polish bottles you see at the other discount nail places around town. I will definitely be returning as a regular. I have been living in the King West area for almost a year now and up until a week ago, I would travel up to the Bloor area, midtown Toronto and even my old nail salon in Thornhill to get my nails done! Finally I decided that enough was enough and that I wanted to find a place near my apartment that was clean, affordable and gave awesome manis and pedis! I stumbled upon Q Spa right around the corner from my apartment at King and Peter Street/Blue Jays Way and had my first experience there, which was nothing but enjoyable! I got a manicure and a pedicure there and it was wonderful! My pedicure was $35 and it included all of the key ingredients: amazing nail shaping, full cuticle treatment, a super long leg massage which moisturized my skin so well and relaxed my muscles and incredible toe nail polish application. After my pedi was complete, I went on to get my manicure. My manicure was $18 and included all of the key ingredients again, but it was to my hands and arms. Aside from the amazing pedi and mani, Q Spa has such friendly and talented staff who are great at what they do. Also, the polish selection is large there so you shouldn't have trouble finding a colour of your choice. Q Spa has great hours too! They are open from Monday to Saturday from 10:30am until 8pm and on Sundays from 12pm until 7pm. These hours are incredible because it allows me to either go after work on a weekday or find a time that works for me on the weekend. They take cash, interac and visa and mastercard credit cards! Lisa took her time- over an hour (; She made sure that no acrylic was stuck on the bottoms of my nails- she for sure went above and beyond in all of her fine detail work. I can recommend Q Spa for it's friendliness, professionalism and overall atmosphere. The owner and nail technician were friendly and made me feel very welcomed. If it wasn't for the very specified service I was looking for, I would probably be back. I went for an UV gel refill with french tips; I chose Q Spa as it is in my neighbourhood and reasonably priced. And again, everyone was very very nice. The technician used a powder gel and airbrushed on my tips - two techniques I had never used before. Ladies (and any inclined gents)! Step away from this procedure at Q Spa! The next day, my nails turned yellow, and almost immediately, the air-brushed tips began to chip off! To Q Spa's credit, I returned 2 days later, and they were extremely apologetic and redid my nails on the spot. However appreciative I was for their customer service, my nails once again turned yellow (so embarrassing!) and the tips lasted nary a work week. I was told later by another nail spa that the yellowing is due to the powder product reacting to sunlight - so, not knocking the lovely ladies at Q Spa, but I can't go back. Some general notes: - space is very clean, but there wasn't any obvious evidence that the equipment was sanitized (this is something I look for when going to a spa for the first time) - Could use some additional ventilation - relaxing atmosphere - no entertainment besides the 24 hrs new channel (this isn't important to me, just thought I would mention it! I closed my eyes and key the women start the procedure. She went to out baby powder on my leg zoned I immediately stopped her to wash her hands! The photo was not on my app, so i missed the fact that a hideous green wall would blind me as I tried to pick a pink for my toes. Ugh, they also had CP24 on TV, which is so not relaxing... My friend has come here for years, and highly recommended it, so she made an appt for the 3 of us. My friend is still quite happy with her "regular lady" while the 2 of us thought it was way overpriced for the quality of service we got. My lady was pleasant, lots of colour choices, location was good, place was clean, we made an appointment and the 3 of us were served at the same time, takes credit card, so that was good. However, two of my nails chipped within 3 days. The polish edge near my cuticles were not straight, the top coat was not fully covering my nail, etc. Overall, the experience was not a $50 one, and there are much better mani/pedi options at $35 that are much better quality than this one. Save your money and avoid this place, there are much better salons that are actually worth spending your hard earned money at. I went in to get a hair cut and colour on January 5th, 2017 around 4:40pm till 9:30pm. - I spent around 5 hrs and a total of $181.70 (Cut, colour +tip) Prior to my appointment I was in conversation with the female stylist and showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted and she claimed that she went to beauty school and had 10 years of experience and it would take 5 hours but she will be able to do it. I also showed the picture to the male stylist and he said "not exactly like this but we can replicate it about 85-95%." I said okay, lets go for it and get as close to this as possible. Throughout my session i repeatedly showed the references to ensure the stylist was aware of what i wanted and after 5 hours, my hair looked like the worst amateur dye job ever. It was bleached blonde, damaged and rough and NO WHERE CLOSE TO MY REFERENCE. I voiced my concerns that it was very yellow and the stylist encouraged me that my hair will become lighter and less yellow by two weeks as i keep washing it and it looks extra yellow because of the terrible salon lighting. (???) I went home, consulted two different and experienced stylists, Francesco Gullo and Julianne Chakma. Both of them informed me that my hair was no where similar to the reference and that i would need to get it toned, highlighted and treated again. The yellow will not fade to a lighter colour by two weeks, that was bullshit. I was recommended by both stylists to speak to the manager/owner to get my refund. I returned the next morning to finish my cut and told my stylist all of that which she proceeds to nod in agreement saying "Yeah, yeah and you need to use a blue shampoo to lighten it". After my cut was over, I again voiced my concerns that I am really upset at my colouring job and feel like my hair is unnecessarily damaged and that I will have to go to another stylist to fix it. That you can keep the money for the cut and treatments but i would like to get a refund for the colouring as I will not be able to go about my life with a bad dye job. The male and female stylists stared blankly at me, started arguing that this was exactly what I wanted and started threatening me by saying "i have cameras here, you agreed to this" and "don't come here with this bullshit, this is what you wanted" They proceeded to ignore me, and move onto other clients. Frustrated, upset and stressed at the lack of professionalism, customer service and terrible attitude, I left with the intention of returning and getting my refund at another time. I have never experienced such greed for money and lack of skills/concern from a salon ever. Please be advised and go to salons that employ skilled staff that can provide excellent services and professional behaviour. read more

This is very "what you see is what you get". While not the most chic spa, the services are consistently good. I've had mani/pedis done here and also a plethora of waxing. Nails are done fairly quickly, which I enjoy while I know some ppl like lengthier treatments. None of the steps are missed though, just not drawn out like at fancier places. The nail salon has changed ownership so it's now a hair and nail salon. Only one of the original workers are still there but the management is not as good as before. The lady is lovely but doesn't speak English very well. Some of her staff (mainly the flaming guys) talk really loud amongst in their native language. Sometimes so loud like they are yelling. The guys also aren't as attentive when you waiting for your nails to be dried. They forget you and don't help you get your jacket on like some of the ladies. One of my regular manicurist left (Franca) :( but thankfully Keiko is still there. She is now the only originals left from the old management team. They rely heavily on location and cheap prices (they lowered the prices slightly), but I rather pay a little more and get better service. If Keiko leaves, I may need to find a new salon for the news girls are not as nice or attentOne looks mad all the time. Don't think I want her working on my nails when you are mad. Updated Sept 16/18: To the person who said that all these nails salons run by Asians are loud and that I should go somewhere else if I'm not used to it. I have been to a few and not all Asian salons are loud. The previous owner was Vietnamese as well and it was well run and not like a street market. And it's a stereotype that all Asian salons are run like that. It's how management wants to present themselves and this new management obviously cares more on cheap prices to attract more clients than providing an enjoyable experience at a higher price. I'm from New York, and nail salons in NYC are on every single corner. So, it takes a lot for me to really like a nail place. I'm in Toronto for the next 2 months, so I figured I'd try the closest location. Q spa is AWESOME!! I called about 10 minutes before I walked on over. FYI, there is a Starbucks right next door in case you need to wait a few minutes. They got a pedicure and a shellac manicure done in an hour and ten minutes!!! My toes look perfect, and she was so meticulous. Usually, I would feel rushed when two people are doing my mani/pedi at the same time, but they were really great. I came here with a party of girls to get our nails done before a friend's wedding so my review is on the basis of us renting the place out. That said, I can't imagine the service would be much different on any other day. I was very, very pleased with the experience. Usually such salons offer cheap mani/pedis but you pay in service - not that its always bad but usually just mediocre at best. These estheticians were noticeably more personable and BEST of all - they took their time!!! They were throough in makijng sure we were all dry, and they let us all bring in lunch after and sit around and eat while they cleaned. It was a very relaxed, fun ambiance and I would certainly visit again. Most important, my nails were done with great precision and lasted for 2 weeks (shellac). read more

Great job on my nails!!! I got an acrylic full set my mom got a manicure! The rating is lower because 1. The cost was $80cad but they charged $90 cad because I paid using my credit card. 2. They told a guy over the phone (I heard it personally) they could cut his hair and the cost however when he got there and they saw his hair he was bi-racial, they rudely told him no he'd have to go to the mall. I quietly reminded the guy doing my nails of the phone conversation, he said nothing, the guy said I came here because you told me you could cut my hair, the other worker rudely repeated, "No you go to the mall". I have been here several times and have always left happy and with a good experience. The only downfall is even if you make an appointment (so you can get in and out on your lunch hour) they are not respected. Despite making appointments my friend and I waited almost 20 min before our shellac manicures were started making our lunch break very very long. My friend who came with me had an older lady (not recommended) as she had to go back twice to have the shellac redone because of chipping and peeling. I have always had younger manicurists who did an excellent job and the shellac lasted. This place is out of my way but I definitely think it is worth it--just schedule enough time to wait around for a bit. read more

I just went to Q Spa for the first time and I absolutely loved it!!! I'm from New York City and while living in Toronto temporarily I was in need of a good manicure and a quick 20 minute chair massage and happened upon this place. They were really friendly, May made my horribly short nails look beautiful and then gave me a wonderful massage! I paid for 20 minutes but she took much more time with me and went so far as to end with a series of hot stones, while asking what target areas I needed more attention on. I went before rush hour so maybe that's why there was no wait, but I have never reviewed anything on Yelp before and I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to give them a big thank you and thumbs up! I walked in today because I needed a really fast pedicure. Although the location is very basic, it was clean and the staff were professional and attentive. I think the $35 for the pedicure is an average price for downtown Toronto - I'm not sure why other reviewers found it expensive. I have been going to Q Spa religiously for 2 years now and it is as good as it gets! The staff are very friendly and kind- and always remember my name. I got Bio gel with their staff member named May every 4-6 weeks for over a year and she does the best nails in the city. I have since stopped doing gel so I am there less often, however I recommend it to anyone who is looking for professionally done and price-conscious manicure/ pedicure/ gel. I have never done waxing so I cannot comment on that service. Definitely slightly more expensive, but absolutely worth it! read more

I am always in the King/Peter area and one day, I had some time to kill and needed a shellac manicure, so I walked over to Q Spa for the first time and was nothing but incredibly IMPRESSED. My manicure was perfect (shape (square shape was classic and elegant, no 90 degree corners...ugh), white line on French was perfect). The ladies are incredibly friendly and the price was comparable to any other place (actually, considering where it is located the price is pretty decent). CP24 on the TV I get...it's generic and it works for everyone...it's news and closed cap is on so that it doesn't disturb anyone that doesn't want to listen to it. I live 250 kms away, but fortunately I am in the area often enough that I wait until I get to TO to do my manicure...and next, pedicure!!! Great job ladies....I highly recommend!!!! read more

This place is definitely more expensive than the other nail salons in the area, but the quality is well above the competition. They are meticulous and I've never had to fix up one of their manicure or pedicures when I got home (which I often do with other nail places). They also will tell me over the phone if they are full, instead of telling me to come in saying "just a ten minute wait" when in reality it's almost an hour's wait.
