Got to try their spinach dumpling, noodle and a dessert. Out of all, the dessert was my top favorite! We ordered a green tea cremoso that came on a plate with beautiful presentation. We swung by Qi for brunch for a small birthday celebration. The ambiance inside is beautiful and really gives it very palace like vibes. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gave great suggestions for a potential entree. We chose the Honey Akaushi Beef per her advice and waited patiently on that while our dim sum orders came out. The soup dumpling had a good bite to the shell with ample amount of broth-- none of the dumplings ripped on the bottom as we picked them up with our chopsticks to eat. There are little round cups for each seat to capture the broth in the dumpling as we ate. The steamed bbq pork was not char siu but still really good. Somehow the pan fried beef bao had a slightly chewier bun. The crispy pork belly almost didn't feel like pork belly-- it was surprisingly not that fatty or oily when I pressed my chopstick against it. The pork was tender while the skin was extremely crispy. Finally, the Honey Akaushi Beef-- it was really tender and had an amazing presentation with the sizzling hot plate. The flavor was definitely highlighted by the honey and its seasoning. It didn't taste too different from other cuts of beef that I had before. Loved the ambiance, definitely on the pricy side but for a first time experience, I enjoyed their soup dumplings more than anywhere else I've gone (Wu Chow and Steamies) (Ps thank you for the complementary birthday cake! We ordered a ton of food for our group. Each dish is presented beautifully and the portions were great for sharing. Soup dumplings - a must order. The wrapper is not too thick or thin, and there is the perfect amount of broth in each dumpling. Zha jiang noodle - we enjoyed this dish. It's not spicy and there is a lot of minced meat and sauce to balance the noodles. Shrimp har gow - the shrimp was plump and the wrapper was the right thickness. Roasted duck pancakes - I personally prefer the traditional way of eating Peking duck in a wrapper and with slices of duck meat, but this was a tasty bite and a modern spin on a classic dish. Salt and pepper shrimp - This is a popular item on their menu. I personally think it could use a little more seasoning and the batter is a bit too thick. Honey akaushi beef - The beef was very tender. It's a bit too sweet for my taste, but in all fairness, it is a honey based sauce. Akaushi beef with bell pepper - similar to the above dish, but savory. Singapore-style noodles - great texture in the noodles with a subtle hint of curry. Very well balanced dish. Truffle egg fried rice - the truffle flavor is prominent in this dish. Combination fried rice - solid. You can't really go wrong with fried rice. Seafood crispy noodle - we really enjoyed this dish. The sauce was light, and there is a great amount of decadent seafood like lobster and scallops. Other things we ordered included the sesame chicken, crab meat egg drop corn soup, pickle plate. It's also great that they have vegetarian options. Our vegan friends enjoyed the vegetable dumplings, mapo tofu, and greens. I really appreciate that their parking is free. Out of the dishes we got, I liked the braised ox tail the best. I thought it was well cooked and tender. My boyfriend prefers lean meat so he didn't enjoy it as much but I liked it. I LOVE QI! If you need parking, park in the top garage level of Whole Foods and walk one block over. This place is such a freaking vibe. I go here for lunch during the work week but not often enough. It's super close tables so it's not a place to have super private conversations but the food is so tasty and I love that you can have dim sum in a pinch. Everything is yummy but share some dumplings get a main and have a drink. They have a full bar. The serving sizes are plenty so you'll get the cutest bag for leftover. Our service was great. They don't call out vegan and gluten free on the menu but you can ask and be guided to some options. If you are strict in allergies, call ahead to make sure. What a great date night spot!! To start we got the qi soup dumplings, which were amazing. The ginger sauce that goes on top blended beautifully with the soup inside the dumpling. This one was a difficult one. The Har Kau was the best I ever had. The soup dumplings skin was perfect but the crab and the meat was grinder too much thus missing texture. Unfortunately we ordered two dishes of different soup dumplings that came out at the same time. Not good for soup dumplings. I would have given normally 4 Stars, but what I did not like is that it appeared they took popular lower cost menu items off the menu and left only the more expensive ones. It was such a relief to find a nice restaurant for my friends birthday party that would seat 18 guests! For dinner I got the dumplings, Singapore noodles with beef and an espresso martini. The Singapore noodles with beef was exactly what I was craving as I wanted some good soft noodles with non-spicy, savory broth. Adding the beef was a great option as it was bulgogi-like with lots of beef sprinkled in the noodles. This is so sad for me to write. As my previous review detailed, I have LOVED this restaurant for years. I decided to have my birthday dinner here on 9/6, with 17 people. I made the reservation via phone call 2 weeks in advance, and everything was set to go. I was so excited!! However, everything went... not great. First, we are sitting by the door and given a large table. When I got up and went to the restroom, we were asked to scoot down and allow a smaller group to join our table. There were only three chairs available at the large table with my group, and we politely declined. This got us a lot of nasty looks/comments for not agreeing, from staff and the people that asked. from thereon, everything went downhill. We continued to order food that never arrived, but consistently had food we did not order come and be left at the table. Drinks were not delivered, food was brought out cold, and our server was not happy with us. My sober friend ordered a nonalcoholic lychee martini, was given an alcoholic version and didnt know until she drank it. at the end, We asked them to split the bill in THREE EVEN PARTS, and they didn't want to do it (i asked when making the reservation if we could split the bill). After spending over $900 for a dinner, you expect to leave happy and content. it was all just bad news. I had my birthday dinner at Lin last year and will just continue to go there. We were able to get seated rather quickly, despite it being a tad busy. Love the decor of the restaurant and the low lighting. I felt this added flair to the establishment. We had a light fare of the Akaushi Beef with the Truffle egg fried rice. The Akaushi Beef was delicious and I appreciated how it came to us on a hot plate, still simmering. The truffle egg fried rice complemented the main dish very well. Tasty and filling. We opted to add dessert to end our dining experience and were thrilled to see the menu had Ube Cheesecake. We started with steamed chicken dumplings - clearly freshly made and amazing. My favorite dish of the night was the salt and pepper shrimp. It came with a slaw mixed with peppers that was spicy and oh so good. The halibut was cooked perfect but could have used some more spice and flavor to me. We also got veggie rice and veggie noodles on the side. Decent but crazy expensive markup for just veggies and rice/noodles. Worth it as it was all amazing - great food ; great service and great music! Food quality is very good beautiful seating and decor on the inside. They can handle a large group as well as just a dinner date have a great bar and eclectic mixed drinks. We also got the basil chicken dumplings which were the favorite of two in our party. I got the Moo Shoo Pork. It was so fresh. Their food is not greasy at all. I also tried the vegetable fried rice. It was the best fried rice I have ever had. The veggies in it had their own distinct flavoring. The table setting was fabulous. I love their water cups!! Next time we will try their tea. My favorites were the salt and pepper shrimp, spare ribs, shrimp har kaw, and pork and shrimp sui mai. I didn't really care for the other stuff we got. Their dumplings are pretty big in size. I've never seen dumplings that big before. We also ordered truffle egg fried rice from the regular lunch menu. We didn't get extra truffles added but it an option for an additional cost. The fried rice was good. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming and you could still taste the flavor of the fried rice it self. If you want to experience modern/kinda bougie, higher than average priced, no cart dim sum, Qi is the place. I will say the dumplings being big were nice. We ordered original and crab soup dumplings - filling was nice and soupy, flavorful. The wrap is not thick at all. Also had the imperial tofu dish which was good - not sure what the flavor combo was behind it as I have not had it before. The pork stir fry was bamboo shoot was another great addition. I like the fact that they dont drown their food in MSG, I'm very sensitive with that and can detect it right away but they dont do that here. Ambiance is nice, they have a bar with some cocktails selection. Service was def better than your Chinatown restaurants, very attentive.
