Gifts are of the mass produced, 'candy coated' variety and come in the form of cuddly toys and ornaments that generally come under the heading of 'cute'. You have probably guessed by now that 'cute' is not exactly what I go for when considering buying presents for a friend, and so in general I give the gift selection a pretty wide birth. Nevertheless, this is a large shop that carries a broad selection of cards, some of which I really quite like. I prefer to receive handmade cards of the artsy variety, but I don't like to impose my tastes on others, and so instead I opt to buy cards that I think the recipient will like. Here I can buy all manner of cards to suit every occasion and person. There's everything from bawdy and comical to touching and floral.

I've shopped around for various craft supplies and hobbycraft isn't as expensive as i thought it would be, it has the added bonus of being all under one roof. I don't agree with previous comments that it's a shop for lazy people, if you are short on time then it's the best place. Smaller more personable hobby shops which are lovely will inevitably be more expensive and smaller in size including options for stock so it depends what you are after. i used to buy online from independent sellers but you do get less for your money and if you are intending to sell your items you create like i do, every penny makes a difference. Another good place to check out is local garden Centres, would be surprised the things i've found! They sell an abundance of Christmas crafts, ribbon, buttons, pendants, beads, modelling craft, decoupage, flower arranging, kids crafts and art work, cake decorating icing/ materials and that's just down stairs! It does get very bust on weekends, deducting a star for the times i've had to wait in the que for half and hour or more. They do seem to lack the correct number of staff in my opinion but the staff they do have are helpful as can be. If you are just starting off looking for a new hobby or unsure where to go with some craft ideas, just go for a visit, your not obligated to buy anything. You'll get 1001 ideas and inspirations :)

If it's a special birthday - like 18/21/50/60, or you want a really lovely mother's day card or you want your valentines day card to really say 'I love you' then this is certainly the place for you. The choice is quite staggering. I personally prefer the 50p card shop just down the road for the everyday card. It's saving grace is perhaps the Thornton's counter - if you need a quick one-stop card and chocolaty gift then this is a good call, just don't expect any change!

The staff are always really friendly and helpful, no matter how busy they are. They are very knowledgeable and expert at interpreting my requests! They can be as imaginative or as traditional as you want - from big fancy bouquets made with modern funky blooms, to really delicate small arrangements in oasis for a child's grave. They are definitely the best florist in Trowbridge for quality of flowers and quality of arrangements.
