The room was very clean and up to date, and it had everything we needed. It was also located very convenient to a few shops downtown, which was great. There was a bar and restaurant in the hotel, both of which had great food. Needless to say the wedding party got really rowdy and I was amazed that we weren't kicked out of the place. The hotel staff must have seen a lot worse than us. Anyhow, we were there 2 nights and very pleased with the accommodations, and the food. The other thing of note was how helpful the staff were. We had brought our dog with us, because he is too scared to be left alone. Once we told the desk staff how nervous he is, they offered to keep him in the reception area with them while we were at the wedding and reception so that he wasn't lonely in our room all by himself. It was so nice of them and so appreciated.

The proprietor was relaxed but attentive and he has a great staff from chefs to waiters. We sat on the deck overlooking the river on a lovely summers evening. Our waitress was chatty in a very personal way and was a delight. Our dishes of sweetbreads, halibut and seafood pasta were excellent. We chatted briefly with the chef and were impressed by his culinary skill. A simple selection of choices were offered using good ingredients including fiddleheads. All in all we made memories that evening and only wish we lived nearer. The place is special and we only wished we lived nearer.

It's been a while since I stayed in a motel style where you park your car within 10 feet of the bed. I'm not sure I would like this as much in busier times but it was okay this week. On the negative side: The walls of the rooms tend to be a bit thin and you can hear your neighbours rumbling around at times. The hotel rooms are a bit on the smaller side but it's manageable but I wouldn't want to experience it for a longer period or with more than 2 people. On the positive side: The rooms are clean, the WIFI is good and there is a bar/restaurant in the main building which is convenient. Also the rooms facing the Bay De Chaleur across the road would be quite nice in summer! All in all I'd rate it as an acceptable place to stay for a shorter period.

Philippe the owner of Napier house excels at hospitality and his property is a delight to stay at…read more As retired former award winning innkeepers we have a lot of knowledge and experience about hospitality. Napier house has got it's shit together and offers a great stay! The property has an amazing British garden as Philippe the owner is a very talented horticulturist. We were personally met and checked in and shown our top floor suite, which was spacious with a well equipped kitchen. There are sofas, a dining room table + chairs, two great queen beds with great mattresses, good pillows and linen. A newly installed wet room has a great shower, Most importantly the house is quiet and we slept well. The breakfast is prepared and cooked (if required) fresh and there is no prescriptive element. The breakfast time is flexible and most of the ingredients have either been grown by Philippe or made by him. There is a small deck at the rear of the property on the second floor where you can relax and take in the view of the river basin and surrounding hills. The property has an original shabby chic feel and offers a lovely individual stay. Finally illustrating Philippes care for his clients; he went to pick raspberries and upon his return he found us and offered us a small bowl of them to taste.......
