The downside for me is mainly the tiny little lift, which is often temperamental and doesn't always go at all. Today I saw a group of 4 normal-sized people not be able to take the lift until 2 got out - and as there are fair few stone steps to climb, this can be an issue for some.

Name tags were not ready first thing in the morning but I'm not sure it was the conference centre fault or the actual conference provider. However there was some nice coffee and pastries and other breakfast items to enjoy. The conference room we used was well kept and well presented. At every break, the conference centre was very efficient and the food was good (different choices, would cater for different dietary requirements - as long as you let them know before hand) Overall, a very nice place and i would happily go back there for another conference.

It was originally built in 1509 and has been home to people such as Sir Francis Bacon! The entire place is very well maintained and somehow manages to provide modern amenities while maintaining it's history and authenticity. The staff at the Canonbury Academy are all incredibly pleasent and very accomodating. The rooms are well planned and perfectly organised. Like I said earlier, they somehow manage to balance new and old. The rooms are gorgeous and elegant, but are also set up with overhead projects and televisions. Perfect! Our lunch and coffee breaks were served in an adjoining room which was also lovely, on both occassions. Last but certainly not least, the price is right. I'm actually suprised at how affordable the Canonbury is for events. They also offer a charity rate which chops off a significant percentage. Be sure to mention if you're a charity though, they don't always ask!
