After four brain surgeries and an extended stay at a local rehab hospital I was discharged to home…read moreto finish my recovery. I really don't know how Med1Care got to me but it has been one of the best healthcare experiences in my life. Their commitment to me has been and still is exemplary. Charlie taught me to walk without mechanical assistance again and recover my balance; Terri and Kelly helped me retrain my brain to remember things using assist tricks as minor as Post-It notes and lists, putting frequently used items (keys, shoes, purse, et cetera) in the same place every time so I'm not constantly searching for them and making myself and everyone around me nuts helping me find them over and over again. Erin is a lovely young woman with terrific nursing skills and is always looking for the less obvious issues I'm having and helping me to fix them. Then there's Stu (aka Stuh). Stu's job with me is to help me retrain some of the pathways in my brain between the optic nerve and the rest of my brain. I have had vision issues since the surgeries and delay in recognition of what I should be seeing and responding more quickly to. The goal is to be able to drive again and be more independent. We're not there yet, but almost. Barring something odd, it shouldn't be that much longer before we reach that independence goal. Last, but certainly not least, is Colleen. She is not only an administrator overseeing all the PTs, she's been hand's-on with me from Day One. If I have a question or concern she always (and I do mean always) makes herself available to me. I know I'm not the only person to receive the largesse of her time and knowledge...She takes care of everyone with competence and humor. I think Kelly should be included here as well. She leads the OTs and, like Colleen, she is hands-on with me and is seriously funny, too. Neither of these professional women are paper-pushers. They interact directly with their clients and are willing to go as far as necessary to make sure their clients' needs are met and that the appropriate caregiver is matched to the appropriate client as much as humanly possible. In short, if you or a loved one needs in-home care, please call Med1Care. You'll be glad you did. Robin H.

I had an amazing experience with Med1care and my dad. Getting him back on his leg after surgery was…read morestressful and upsetting and the ONLY thing that made it manageable was the staff at Med1care. They walked me through the entire process of getting him signed up, the physical therapists were SO nice and answered all of my 900 questions, and they STILL follow up with my dad when we technically finished the therapy portion of recovery.

I was referred to this Dr. by my Orthopedist to have a nerve conduction test performed. The staff…read morewas amazing from the receptionist to the assistant who took my info and vitals. That said, I asked specifically when making the appointment whether any part of the test would require me to lie on my back. I was assured that I would not. The doctor was very rude when I told her my symptoms and what the suspected diagnosis was carpel tunnel, as I'd had it in my other hand years ago & symptoms were the same. She nastily replied "you don't have that and probably didn't the first time!" This was before any imaging or testing had been done; she also hadn't even looked at my hand yet. She thrust a gown at me, told me what to take off, and to put it on & get on the exam table. I asked again if I'd have to lie down. She got the nasty tone again & said "Of course you do!" I'm visibly disabled, and when I told her I can't she said,"Well, you will!". (I know, I should've left right then!) I was shocked and mortified. When she came back in, she insisted on holding my arm to "help me" get up there, which I could have done better by myself - it was the laying down I can't do. After I was on the table she said "Ok, after seeing how weak your muscles are, I 'm not gonna have you lay down because if you do, I can't get you down from there! I said,"I know." But she just kept ranting, saying how she's "not very big" and she ""could never handle somebody my size". It was then that I started to silently cry and she tried to walk it back & offered to do the test on only my hand & fingers. I needed that test, and she's the only one in our area who does it. I sat quietly but still in tears while she finished., got down, got dressed, & got out of there! Such a lack of professionalism and empathy should not be tolerated.
