Everyone in the shop knows their product line-up and does not have to be "pushy": the quality of their mattresses sell themselves, and at an excellent price point to boot! I recently started shopping around for a new mattress. I was in the old age situation of moving to a new place and not wanting to take my 20 year old, worn out mattress with me. Now, something you should know about me, I research a lot when it comes to anything I purchase let alone a big purchase like this. So, when it came time to buying my mattress, I went on the offensive. I visited all the big name mattress stores, checking out multiple brand name mattresses and dealing with many pushy salesmen. I don't mind it so much, because i figured it's just part of the experience. I'm not one to be talked into buying something anyway so I did my best to pick their brain and left. I did find two name brand "luxury" line mattresses that I felt I liked. The price was really high for both, I compared online and all retailers, even the lowest price I found was pretty high. After finding the lowest price, I was almost ready to pull the trigger on one of them, but something was missing... I knew there had to be more out there, something I haven't found yet. So I started researching online: How are mattresses made? What are the best materials and manufactures? It led me to a website that had all this information and more. The website also highly recommended "Quality Sleep Shop" to all, not just Chicago land customers. Since I was 20 miles was from Quality Sleep Shop, I had to check it out. So how does it compare you ask? I walked with my girlfriend and was greeted by Kathy. She told us about how their store is set up and asked if we had a budget. After telling Kathy that I'm more concerned with the quality and getting the right mattress for me she led us to the first mattress and we both laid on it. It felt pretty good, then the next one felt amazing. Kathy said out bodies looked much better on this mattress, when she said that I knew what she was talking about. My butt was nice and comfortable, my lumbar was supported. My natural body curve stayed without pressure. I felt like I didn't want to get up, my girlfriend agreed. I didn't want to stop there, I checked out all the other mattresses. Kathy was helpful and answered every question. At no point did I feel pressured or anything like that. I was ready to pull the trigger. Kathy asked what kind of bed I'll be using for the mattress, but didn't have one yet. She helped us find a platform bed we liked, and I told Kathy to add it to the order. It was reasonably priced and exactly what I was looking for. Kathy and I worked out a date for delivery almost two weeks later on a Saturday. She said they multiple payment options, I could pay now, charge it by credit card, or pay cash on delivery. I decided to pay with credit card and she said I can call on Thursday before delivery to finalize and give them the number. Fast forward two weeks later on Saturday I got a call 30 minutes before the delivery guys showed up. They were on time, and brought everything in. Asked where I wanted the bed, I didn't realize this was white glove delivery. For some reason I thought they would just leave the bed there, nope, they started opening boxes and putting it together. I realized i have no cash for tip and ran to the bank down the block,l it only took me 10 minutes tops. When I came back the guys were done. They just put the mattress on top of the bed. Asked for my signature, I looked it over, we talked a bit about cars, I tipped them and they left. That same night I slept on the mattress and the next morning I woke up like a new man. I was so relaxed. I only slept like 4 hours but I feel like i slept 8 or more. I've only had the mattress for a week and I'll update the review in a year or so but this week has been the best I've felt in a long time. I'm rested, relaxed, less grumpy and probably more pleasant to be around. I know a week isn't that long but it made world of difference. Now the mattress I got was the Emily Pillow Top with TENCEL fabric. The fabric is very good quality and comes from renewable/sustainable trees and is biodegradable and very environmentally friendly and has great characteristic. Kathy explained all this as well. The mattress has pocketed coils in the support layer, hd foam and latex in the comfort layer. The mattress has a 10 year warranty too, so as far as durability, I have on worries. Now I realize this review is pretty long, but if you're like me and researching then you'll take the time to read it. Bottom line is, come here, try it. You will not be disappointed. Not all ll brand name mattress are bad but many don't tell you their actual materials and if you research, you'll see many are made from inferior materials. They are also way more pricey so if you want the best possible quality mattress for your money along with an awesome customer experience this is your place. PS. I have absolutely nothing to say about this place. Staff was knowledgable, supportive and most importantly, didn't try to upsell at all. They listened to our needs and directed us to a few beds to try out. Within 20 minutes MAX, we new what bed we wanted and were scheduling delivery. Rob was the one that helped us and he was fantastic! Our bed was delivered for free (any delivery within 40 miles of the shop!) today. They called me when they were close as I was told, wore masks and put the mattress on the frame that we had already. They were in and out in 5 minutes. This place is a gem to have locally (though I think you can order from anywhere via their website). You can literally talk to the people who will make you mattress! Had a very nice experience here shopping for a mattress. It is a small shop but has a wide selection of multiple mattress types. They are all made locally. The best part of the experience was the absolutely no pressure sales environment. We laid on multiple beds for over an hour. The sales person periodically checked in to see if we had questions but never at any point did I feel pressured to make a purchase. There is also a wide price range to fit almost any budget. We did end up purchasing a mattress from here and the delivery went seamlessly. The delivery truck showed up when expected and the 2 delivery men were extremely efficient and polite. I don't doubt that this company may sell relatively high quality mattresses but it's very poorly run. The employees that work here don't know much about the products that they sell and the owner is never available for questions. No response after asking to have him please give us a call whenever he got a moment. First week he was on a long vacation and then when asked if he could give us a call the following week- still No call. I am one of those people who spend a great deal of time shopping around to find not only the best price, but the best retailer. I can't stand being "sold" on an item at a big chain, and I can't stand paying too much for an item. Owner: The owner has been making mattresses for the past 20 years. That's what he does with his life- he makes mattresses. He is the lowest pressure person I have ever worked with and his mattresses aren't even expensive. The shop: I bought a memory foam mattress after about an hour in his shop. The owner explained the process of how he makes his mattresses and since I said that I was only looking for memory foam, it was an easy process. When writing reviews for other sites I usually don't respond to other reviewers but I feel I should mention that there were no "spiders" or "leaks." I don't know what the other reviewer saw, but his shop is clean- response over. The bottom line: If you want to avoid all the BS related to chain retailers i.e. sales pressure/tactics, worthless salespeople, crappy merchandise etc. go here. It's just straightforward at a fair price. The mattress itself is incredible. I've never regretted my purchase. He has the "comfort guarantee" that virtually every mattress shop has, only he'll actually fix the mattress for you if you want him to! not just exchange it. read more

Very satisfied with our King size mattress. I can't recall the model name, but it was for around $2k and had a combination of latex and coils. I was looking for an organic mattress because I read they last much longer and also are chemical free. I went to a store in north suburbs but the price was very high, almost $5k. Just by chance I found about quality sleep shop by goggling more about organic mattresses. What impressed me most about this place was the owner, Tim?, told me to look into a less firm mattress since I have broad shoulders. I never heard any mattress salesman suggest that. He was right, the force on my shoulders was less with a less firm mattress. We have had the mattress now for 2 months, and it gives me the best sleep I have had in my ~40 years of life! There are so many things to rave about. Fantastic quality, supporting local business, and incredibly helpful no-pressure sales. Kathy helped us pick a mattress and was patient, answered all our questions intelligently, and didn't try to pressure us in any direction whatsoever. Actually, when we came in, I explained that I was waking up with severe headaches on a daily basis, had experimented with multiple other things first, and our mattress was due to be replaced anyway. She asked some questions, and noted that while it couldn't hurt to get a new mattress based on the age of our old one, she wasn't sure it would help with the headaches. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! I learned that side sleepers and back sleepers typically need different mattresses. No one has ever asked me about how I sleep when buying mattresses over the years at any other mattress stores and certainly not at a department store. We are terribly pleased with the bed we bought. I sleep like the dead now! The mattresses are custom made and made locally no less. I was surprised at how quickly they were able to schedule a delivery as well. I thought the prices were fair given the quality of the beds but then we happened to hit a sale which was just the frosting on the cake. This place is a GEM. Quality Sleep Shop designs and manufactures their mattresses right there. How cool is that? You save $$$ because they cut out all the middle-men. They can even make some customizations to address your specific needs. The sales person (Kathy) was extremely knowledgeable about mattresses, how they are built, the materials used and the benefits of each model. The saleslady was very knowledgeable, and spent over an hour with us (and our crabby daughter). If you live anywhere even remotely close to this place, don't bother buying a bed anywhere else. I live in downtown Chicago, and it was absolutely worth the trip. Not only was the sales experience excellent -- Kathy was pleasant and knowledgable and even waited past close while we narrowed our choices down -- but the delivery guy even made a special trip downtown for us on the night before Thanksgiving! Hands-down the best service I've received on a purchase in a long time! As for the mattress itself, it's heaven. These guys know what they're doing, clearly. Their honest and direct approach to bed-making made me feel great about my purchase, and when you're going to spend hundreds of dollars on a high-quality mattress, you want to feel good about that purchase. I feel great--that might contribute to how well I'm sleeping, too! The only thing I can't speak on is the longevity of the mattress, but if I had to guess based on all of the other information I've gathered on these guys, it's going to last a long, long time. After a lot of research, my wife and I tried the bed-in-a-box fad and pulled the trigger on one of the more reputable ones, but the mattress we received just wasn't for us, and the "hassle free returns" are far from as easy as they claim. We really didn't want to go into the stereotypical high pressure mattress sales environment, so looked around a bunch and found that we were right near a highly touted local shop - Quality Sleep Shop. Our whole experience start to finish was great. No pressure at all in the store. The sales rep (I believe her name was Kathy/Catherine/something to that effect?) was really helpful. She explained the different mattress options, and even inspected our sleeping posture to help guide us to the right mattress. We settled on a King Emily, customized with the Wool Bamboo cover. Turnaround time was really quick because they weren't busy, so we ordered on a Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday. They also threw in 2 free king size pillows in addition to the mattress which are really nice quality, even if a bit firm to start out. If you live anywhere in the Quality Sleep Shop delivery radius and are looking for a mattress, there really isn't a better place to buy from. Beats the hassle/stress of guessing on an online mattress for sure, and the folks here are all helpful and great people. She knew when we were supposed to pick it up and made phone calls to the warehouse manager, Rob, on the weekend. I bought two of these mattresses 9 months ago and am reporting back how great they are! To help folks out with what mattress works for them I first got the natural escape...with the 3 inch of latex on top..it was wonderful and cushy but proved too soft for me! ( I would say a 7 if 1-10 with ten the softest) I then got the double sided echo and it proved perfect for me as I like a firmer mattress i would call it a 5 on the same scale...it is still plenty soft and has the beautiful quilted top but gives a lot of support for those who like a firmer mattress! 9 months later they are still great! read more

My wife and I were recently in their showroom on 55th Street and we were not impressed. There were cobwebs and dead bugs along the baseboards and along the walls of the showroom, dead bugs on some of the mattresses, and the worst of it were tiny white spiders crawling all over the signage for some of their mattresses. It was gross. I can't imagine what their warehouse and work shop is like if the showroom is in this condition. Yuck. We left in a hurry. read more

Wish I would have read the review about the bugs before I visited this store. But the bugs are only one issue. The REAL health issue is the MOLD in that store! After about two minutes of being in the store, my eyes started burning, my head stuffed up and I began coughing. I asked the sales lady if there was mold in the store, as I typically only have that reaction when in moldy environments. She pointed to the wall and ceiling, and said, "Yeah. As you can see, water always run down the walls in here." Sure enough, the walls had MASSIVE water stains. It looked as if they had tried to cover it up with paint a few times, but the paint was even peeling. GROSS. As I looked up at the vents, they were nearly completely clogged with cobwebs, dust, and who-knows-what-else. Little brown spiders were also crawling on the walls near the ceiling. Even the sales woman said she often had to leave the building when the air conditioner or heating system was running, because she couldn't tolerate the mold. As a business owner myself, I would never subject my customers to such an unhealthful environment--and I especially would not subject my employees to that on a daily basis! This owner clearly doesn't care about his customers--or about the health of his employees, which I find ironic given that the "corporate story" on the website says a guy named Tim started selling natural latex mattresses because he was concerned about the health of his daughter. What a joke. Oh, and by the way, the pictures of the store on the website DO NOT EVEN REMOTELY resemble what the store looks like. It is not even the same BUILDING or LAYOUT. Can you say, "False advertising"? This is sad. The sales woman was extremely helpful and friendly. I would have purchased from her in an INSTANT, but I REFUSE to buy a mattress from a place where they are made in a mold-infested environment. Egads! Was looking for a local mattress manufacturer rather than going to one of the 10,000 chain stores located in every single strip mall in Chicagoland. I walked in and met Tim. He is not a salesman, sorry buddy, but that is was made me comfortable. He basically looked at me a said just try this particular one. I did and it felt fine. He then said I make it right in back with the best components. The guy has been making them for most of his life, believes in what he does, and is proud of his product. Also, he said if I don't like something about it that he'll pick it up, take it apart, fix whatever I don't like, put it back together and drop it off within a day.
