The first visit there was an issue with the lock on our room so we got upgraded to a full family suite for no extra and on our latest visit we received a free upgrade to an apartment spa suite because they weren't fully booked. This accommodation may cost more than some other options in Port Augusta but I would say the little extra is worth it for your own comfort. All rooms are newly designed so there is no 'old motel' feeling at all and the grounds are nice, upon going for a short walk I found a small communal BBQ and seating area that groups can use, free wifi and other features set this place apart from the rest. There is also a pool available for use which is quite nice too and well enclosed from the public outside, a perfect place to relax after doing some sightseeing or a long drive across the west coast area.

The only down side is the close proximity to the railway line and the level crossing bells and trains passing at all hours ! Ear plugs are a must to get a decent sleep, which I had. The menu had a great selection of food at a reasonable price. This is certainly more than your standard family eatery and on the night my wife and I attended, it seemed that all of Port Augusta agreed. Unfortunately a combination of factors including a waiter under training and the sheer chaos of a very busy dinner service saw us not receive our meals for an hour and a half, which included us having to remind the staff of our order. The head waiter was very polite and apologetic when we informed him of this. The restaurant's response to this unfortunate situation revealed what their service can be when running smoothly. The rest of the night was wonderful and I could not find fault. The food was excellent and my lamb was cooked to juicy perfection. Despite the initial hiccough with our order, the restaurant came through in the end and showcased excellent service and customer management.

Wadlata have a self-guided tour through the history of the Flinders Ranges and Outback Australia, according to the Wadlata website this tour covers 1300sqm where you will see 22 films and 30 interactive displays. Highly recommended for everyone.

The hotel was lovely and in an old building (which I love) and well maintained. We opted for the budget accom which included shared bathroom and toilets, which was no problems at all. It had everything we needed and was clean. There was a nice dog hanging around, who was friendly and quiet. Not too sure if he belonged to anyone or the hotel. In all, I would stay again if I can back to the area. Thanks

(even when grilling vegetables for your vegetarian friend.) the kitchen at this campsite was perhaps the nicest kitchen we saw on the trip. besides two electric grills, there was also a fridge, two tables, two sinks, and plenty of electrical outlets. if I were going to live in a trailer park, I'd pick this one. high class. everything was clean clean clean. I think there's a cleaning crew. if campsites (eg tents, the whole haul) isn't your thing, they also have mini cabins! how romantic! there's also a playground for those travelling with kids...or for the kids in all of us!
