We just got back from a stay at the Hotel Qubus in Krakow and wanted to share our experience.
At a glance:
Pros - Great location, by far the best breakfast I've had at any hotel in Europe (and it's free!), amazing staff, clean and comfortable property, free internet.
Cons - Honestly couldn't think of any except for the free internet speed being slow.
We had an excellent stay at the Hotel Qubus. I have to say, the entire experience was nearly flawless from start to finish.
We had a reservation for a few months back, but had to cancel. The hotel staff was totally understanding about the situation and very accommodating. They let us pick a later date which worked for us without any hassle. This was quite impressive, since they could have basically told us to get lost. But they were totally classy and helpful!
We thought the hotel location was great. It's situated just south of Kazimierz, the old Jewish part of Krakow, and a few streets north of the old Jewish ghetto. It's about a 20 minute walk to the center of the Old Town, which we found to be very reasonable. Its also very peaceful at night which is a plus.
The rooms are well done with good quality bedding, and nice touches like a flat screen LCD tv, minibar, safe, etc. The bathroom was also done to a very high standard. We happened to be on a high floor so we had a nice view of the river and the town.
One of our favorite parts of the stay was the breakfast. Being so used to overpriced and/or subpar breakfasts at our hotels, we were delighted at the amazing breakfast buffet they served up. Fresh bread, at least 10 kinds of cheeses, fresh vegetables, cereals, yogurts, good coffee, and plenty more. And it was all included with the room rate too. What a treat!
Some other good points I'd like to mention were the great staff here (very professional and helpful when we had questions or sought advice), the decently priced parking, and the hotel health and wellness facilities which were great.
One downside I have to add was the very slow internet. While free, it registered speeds of 0.01 megs to 0.50 megs which, at best, felt like dialup and at worst was totally unusable. Hard to complain much though, as both Wifi and wired internet was complimentary. We just used our iPhones when the internet was at a standstill.
In the end, I'd wholeheartedly recommend this property and I hope to have the chance to stay here again. read more
