Lost a star due to lack of parking. Other than that--if you're expecting a dive bar then that is what you'll get. Cheap drinks and surly bartenders. Plastic cup so you're drunk ass doesn't break it. (I usually am served in a real glass though--I guess I'm special) I like Sundays--Kate behind the bar and live music on stage. I came to Que Sera for a concert last night and had a great time. Parking was pretty easy on the street in front of Que Sera but the crowd was also not large for the evening so I could imagine that becoming a problem very quick. The stage is crammed in a corner and stage center has a huge random like fireplace in it that cuts the crowd in half. The acoustics were not overwhelming either but the bartenders were quick to serve and on top of things all night that I witnessed. Nothing would really get me to come here on my own will but I would come check out a band I enjoy here again. read more

Saw lots of cool indie bands, cover bands, washed up "I didn't know these guys were still around" bands, danced to new wave and 90's pop, cleared invisible tiny cobwebs in the air during Release the Bats nights, ended up being one of three people dancing like a mad woman during the ill-fated industrial/ebm nights, drank lots of cheap drinks, free drinks, and happily crawled my way back home...good times. read more

It's a place where I have soaked my liver for years, and the bartender Luann is one of the best at what she does. The crowds there will vary, so go to the website and look at the calender before you go. Chances are there will be a night that will appeal to you. Personally, I go to Release The Bats on the 4th Friday of every month, which showcases more deathrock. The people there are friendly as long as you're yourself. If you want a hip, classy establishment, this is not your place. If you want to listen to good music while getting loaded for cheap, then you've found heaven. read more

Ridiculous. I got issued the newest issued ID format from the DMV... and the guy wasn't familiar with the new look. I work as a cashier and ID people all the time.. we get new booklets on the latest IDs to accept and he was hesitant to ask his co workers and just didn't let us in. That's a 4.5 star rating, by the way. Long before I moved to the LBC, this was the only spot we used to hit up in Long Beach. We usually went to support friend's bands or friend's clubs. I've never had a bad night there! They usually have really good bands and/or DJs any night of the week. For any of you whiskey drinkers out there, I found out a little glitch in the system: Maker's Mark (high quality) is actually cheaper than the Jack Daniels! It's an accounting error the owner made and never fixed. One of the best bartenders ever let me in on that little secret when I ordered my usual (cheaper) Jack on the rocks. The reason that my rating is .5 away from 5 stars: It's CASH ONLY which sucks for the people like me who never ever carry cash but there is an ATM machine inside. And, there's no lot to park in. Wear shoes that you can walk a few blocks in, or bike there if you can. read more

I've only been here the first Friday of each month (probably 5 times), but I think this place is pretty cool. The bartenders on those nights are amazing, super nice, as helpful as possible on a busy Friday night, and NEVER rude. The drinks are cheap, although I havent gone too far with their mixed drinks so Im not sure if the cheapness of the drinks affects the strongness. Nonetheless a beer is $3 and some change, which is not bad at all. The club they hold on the first Friday is called Goodfoot (funk, soul music etc). They have a pool table which you can play for a few quarters and one small room with a dance floor and stage. There is also another small room right inside the door with seating as well. Horror Movie Happy Hour. This is where you walk in and enjoy a cute bartender pouring you drinks while someone in the dark distance spins records to graphic violence playing out on the TV screens behind the bar. One evening I went there and a band played their guts out to me, and maybe a couple of other people who wandered in and out. I felt bad for them, they were okay but nobody was there. So I bought a t-shirt to help them with gas money. The white street light type lighting lowly casting a spell into the very dark space that is the Que Sera must somehow entrance all that enter. Awesome dive bar! Mannequin on tuesdays has the best music I think though I also enjoy release the bats from time to time. Sometimes they have industrial type clubs like Sacrilege.. not so much. Its a great Long Beach institution! I concur with pretty much everyone about the cheap drinks and friendly bartenders! Wow, thanks for the tip about the Makers Mark! The Good: Nice table arrangement inside. Plenty of seating. Just a good overall layout. Decent music. Not super crowded. The Bad: $5 cover for guys (on a Sat night); we THOUGHT there was going to be a live band since the flyers for that evening's music were "Garage and Surf Music" but it was only a DJ. $5 for DJ playing old surfer songs? Got to the front door with my friend, we both turned 21 this year. He asked us for our IDs. He looked at our IDs and grew suspicious despite our ID's being legitimately government issued id's. After about 7-8 minutes of him staring at our ID's we decided to walk out. He was a bearded man that we had dealt with before but he was unprofessional and did not have a scanner to check the ID's and off his judgment assumed they were fake. We were trying to enjoy some music for a benefit show. We turned 21 this year to still deal with idiots at the front door. read more

My local bar, and my favorite hangout. The Que is run as a club venue, where different promoters run different nights. This works for and against the bar, it draws a different crowd each night, but depends on the promoters to bring people in. Some of the clubs have a pretty specific draw, others are more universal. Your experience here will greatly depend on the club and the promoter. They do live music fairly often which is a big plus in my book. The staff is the best, and the reason this is my favorite place. They have the most generous pours of any bar I've ever been in, and the prices are good. But don't bring an attitude or drama, they've been doing this long enough, they're not putting up with it. Parking is the big issue. If you park anywhere near the entrance, consider yourself lucky. read more

What can I say about the Que Sera? From a bar goer's perspective... hell yeah! This place is always filled with chicks!!! But good luck gettin any of them to go home with ya. Sheesh. There is often live music, or DJ's. Make sure you say hi to Raven on the way in. If you're lucky, the owner Luann will make your drink. Guarantee you wont' need more than 2 or 3 if she's mixing. Good lord! Crowds here... eh I'm usually here on nights that my band is playing (www.myspace.com/dropdeadbeats) and for some reason there's never anybody here.... anyway. Prices are fair, and like i said if Luann's mixing you'll be just fine. And of course there's the sticker on the mirror that says "I snatch kisses, and vice versa" Classy!!! The one HUGE drawback to this place is that there is NO parking. It's in a spot in Long Beach where apparently driveways and parking garages are against the law cuz everybody and there mama parks on the street. Good luck not walking 5 miles on a busy night. My review is strictly for Da Bump n' Grind :-) Come kind of early, because parking is a hassle around here, and the line can get kind of long. The entrance is $5, which isn't too bad because the music and the fun time I had made up for it. The DJs played 90's hip-hop & r&b jams, so I was really into that. The bartenders are extremely friendly and the drinks are pretty good. However, go to an ATM beforehand because the bar is cash only. I'm definitely coming again! Been coming here for years for "bump and grind" the 90snight.. 1st and 3rd Saturday's. But I will say 2\3/18 did they change djs??? Because the second female didn't stick to the "90s theme... Love this place. The best bar/venue in town to see new and interesting music, standup comedy, and meet ups. The new sound system is great. It's a cash only bar but the tenders are friendly and fun. It's close to Pizzanista! and Cantarito which is perfect for late post-show Pizza. It's nice and dark with a fireplace and pool table. A real good dive sans creepiness. read more

CASH ONLY!!! I came here for the 'Steak & Eggs' night. It was the last show I guess. I really just came to support Road to Alaska. Good show. As far as the venue goes. Its a bit of a hole in the wall type of feel. I love it! Drinks are cheap and hear they are also STRONG. I decided to stay away from the hard liquor tonight. Instead, I had ordered A glass of red wine and my friend a cola. My total came out to $5. cheap! My friend also ended up getting free refills for the rest of the night. How lovely of them. Went here for the first time on a Friday night and the place was completely dead. The head count totaled 8 people once my boyfriend and I entered. Horrible experience!!!! There was some drunk idiot who started babbling to us at the door and when my boyfriend and I decided to go shoot pool, he butted in and insisted on playing. His exact words to me were "You go get drinks, we'll play pool" and "Hey while you're over there (I was going to the bar after a few minutes) get me another Pabst and I'll pay u when u get back". Fuck that! Don't even try to hustle me, u pathetic waste of space. Needless to say, we left immediately after that. Sunday night was LB No Regrets' Christmas Party. Headliner band and host was HTTH(Heavenly Trip To Hell). Also played were Assault & Battery, Restos, Animas and some other band and a Dj. There was a $5 cover. Down and dirty Long Beach underground metal/punk culture at it's finest. The crowd is slowly dwindling as the inconstant trendy fall by the way side. Fortunately the core still remains dedicated and resolute to the LB underground hardcore music scene. HTTH tore shit up like usual. As Juan threw neon glow sticks and shot confetti at the crowd, the usual suspects wolfed that rebel hardcore propaganda and sound. There was a mosh pit with a dude break dancing in the middle of it. Word. Always a blast hanging with my fellow brothers and sisters of the core. Restos also were bad ass. Animas were a pleasant surprise. This band spanked the crowd with their stage antics, sick ass music and attitude. The singer reminded me of iggy pop's erratic and thoroughly entertaining stage frolics and dance. I gotta see this band again. The Dj was spinning hardcore dark transmetal and industrial techno. The establishment is smallish. There's a small dance floor, a couple of tables, a pool table(complete waste of space) and the bar area with some seating. It gets packed real quick and hot. All night i drank whiskey and cokes for $4. NIce. Extremely stiff, i felt like i could spit fire. Nice. However, the bartenders and bouncer are aloof and aren't interested in the music or people. I've been here in the past and had a blast. The actual location is merely ok at best, but they have good shindigz where they earn that 4th star and i will always keep coming back. read more

One of the walls of Que Sera has a floor to ceiling, wall to wall mirror .. it's amusing to catch glimpses of yourself or other people watching themselves as they dance. Every wondered what you look like as you dance? The only complaint that I have is that the parking is a pain. It's probably best to either walk or carpool to Que Sera, because finding street parking in the area is a hassle. read more

This place is something of a mystery. I've been to this place a few times now and I don't know if its the goth punk rock scene that creeps me out or the over the hill crowd jungle music cats that make me shake my head but I like this place. Its local and the drinks aren't half bad but the cups could be a lot more realistic. What bar in Long Beach serves cocktails in tiny plastic cups anymore??? seriously! WORST BAR EVER!!!! I'm DISGUSTED BY THE BAR TENDER LUANE. Let me detail what happened. On 12/23 I went to a reggae event with my friend as I was visiting from New York, my friend highly suggested this bar and I was excited to go. I ordered my first drink, order was fine. The other bartender (not luane) was nice. Then we went back (to give the bar more money), I was literally just parched and wanted just water and knew that it would be tap, because tap is usually free, and my friend ordered a blue moon beer. This is California and really anywhere else in the United States i imagine in good business practice, does not charge for tap water which is...free. But this bar CHARGES FOR WATER!!!! $1.00!!!!!!!! I thought it was dumb and I just couldn't quantify paying $1.00 for water. So I politely asked the other bartender if we could return the water and get bottled water, but she said she had to asked LUANE. And LUANE said no. Then I asked LUANE if I could get bottled water instead of tap water if I have to pay for water. She then said that she was calling security to remove us from HER bar. When we asked why we're getting kicked out she refused to provide us with an answer and then ignored us and walked away, cool so we stayed there till she felt like coming back, hey maybe she didn't hear us, but when she came back the first thing she said was "are you guys done bitching" wow, so we're not being abrasive with you yet we're getting met with that OVER WATER!!!! so then I proceeded to ask her that I just wanted bottled water and didn't want to pay for tap water no big deal then LUANE says she is calling the police because we won't leave, she gets on her phone as if to call the police over water or because we won't leave the bar after we paid just like everyone else. I didn't see his woman get aggressive like this with anyone else, I wasn't yelling at her the whole time I kept asking for a clear understanding of why we were getting kicked out, and it seemed like it was making her more and more upset because we really couldn't understand why she was so offended because we wanted bottled water. Now I walked out once I heard her say she was calling the police and then proceeded to say that she was going to make up something and say that I was trying to fight her when I was a very good distance away from her, how was I going to fight you LUANE when I was holding my phone and recording you the whole time. I left when she said she was going to call the police not because I had done anything wrong but because I'm a black woman, and she was white. And knowing the current state of The country and having been subjected to this I knew that, that would have been disastrous for me, all the while knowing it was over water. The security/door man will also note that I walked out calmly and peacefully. So we are now out the money for our entrance and a beer. And seriously embarrassed over water and what I presume to be a racist establishment if they have a woman like this working for them. Charging for tap water is just obnoxious and poor business practice. It is not ok to treat people like this. Here are solutions you could have done LUANE: A. ) if you did not have a bottled water option, simply say we don't have bottled water but here is your dollar or B.) give us the water but don't charge us if you see two disgruntled patrons. I plan to express my concerns on as many platforms as possible because as we move forward as a country this kind of racist or perhaps a prejudiced behavior is unacceptable and quite frankly rude. Your establishment is in a culturally diverse city, with many ethnicities. I shall await a response from this establishment, but hopefully the BBB will be able to investigate this, as after speaking with multiple other visitors of this bar, the promoter and the door man who also second that she was giving everyone a hard time. Perhaps I was just in her line of fire as we were told that she was dealing with the grief and loss of a friend, which I understand but perhaps working is not the best thing as LUANE was not able to get her emotions in check. I await patiently for a response. So I was in love with this bar before 12/22/16. One of the best local bars in town.. live music or dis most nights! Cheep good drinks . What more could you ask for.

I went here for the first time last night to DJ with my friend Dan and the fantastic band Mellowdrone. I am not super familiar with the LBC, so it was a little difficult for me to find for some reason and once I found it, parking was a little difficult. The bar has a pretty cool vibe if you are looking to play pool and get some tasty, affordable drinks. However, the environment is not the most conducive for bands and DJs. The room gets really loud really easily, which makes it difficult for people to interact and the way the room is split definitely separates people from the stage area. Great girl to guy ratio (probably 4-to-1 last night), friendly staff, and great Mexican food within walking/short driving distance. On the right night, i could see this place being a really fun hole in the wall party spot. I might need to revisit a few more times to really take it in......(Like I really need another excuse to drink more) read more

This bar/venue has A LOT of potential. I've seen a lot of friends' bands play here and the sound is always an issue. It seems like if this place had some better promotion and a less-expensive cover, it could garnish a "Secret Affair" following, because it's a great space!
