I actually discovered Que Viet through DoorDash and had everything delivered. I ordered the Deep-Fried Imperial Rolls (Cha Gio), Grilled Chicken & Chicken Imperial Roll Garlic Noodles (Mi Top Ga Nuong Cha Gio Ga), Grilled Pork Sausage Rolls (Nem Cuon), Vietnamese Shrimp Mini Crepes (Banh Xeo Tom), and the Grilled Pork Sausage & Sliced Pork Woven Vermicelli (Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong). Yes... I spent almost **$100 for two people**. Looking back at the receipt, I had to ask myself, *"Is this place expensive, or am I just fat?"* Honestly... probably a little of both. Either way, it was one of the best $100 I've ever spent. If it's your first time ordering from Que Viet, do yourself a favor and get the **garlic noodles**. I know garlic noodles are everywhere these days, but these completely changed my expectations. They were perfectly cooked with an incredible bounce, packed with rich garlicky flavor, and the portion size was generous enough for leftovers (if you have the self-control). I also tried the **Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong** for the first time, and it did not disappoint. One heads-up, though: it's generously topped with crushed peanuts. My friend has a peanut allergy, so thankfully we caught it before digging in. If you have any nut allergies, be sure to mention it when ordering. Every single dish arrived fresh, flavorful, and tasted like it had just come out of the kitchen despite being delivered. That's not something you can say about many places. If you ever find yourself in the city, you **need** to make a stop at Que Viet. I've been coming here for a couple years now. It's my go to spot when coming home from work and getting of Caltrain. The beef pho and deep friend imperial rolls are my go to. SF old timer that I am, I always associate this address with Fringale, the longtime, well regarded French bistro that closed its doors six years ago. I had it bookmarked but never did make it, so here I was on a breezy weekday afternoon trying its new identity as a moderately priced Vietnamese restaurant. Price-wise, it's a grade level above similar eateries in Little Saigon. I was making my way to Chase Center for a Valkyries game, so this looked like an apt spot for a pregame nosh. The place was empty in the late afternoon, and kudos to the proprietor for remaining open between lunch and dinner. There was no hesitation in serving me, which I appreciated. Feeling hungry for something substantial, I ordered the $25 Garlic Noodles with Duck Breast and Grilled Pork (Photo 8). Stir-fried in olive oil, it came with a mixed side salad and a cup of their housemade chicken bone broth (Photo 6). The dish was tasty, though the combination of fat and carbs was probably not the healthiest indulgence I could have had. For my nutritional benefit, I could probably go for the fresh spring rolls or the vegetarian pho. The menu offered many temptations for the next visit. Popped by for lunch on a weekday. We ordered 2 bowls of pho and their do-it-yourself wrap platter. Everything was tasty and service was friendly. The wrap platter was fun but not worth $25 in my opinion. We opted for their signature beef and tiger prawn platter which came with literally 3 prawns. I've stopped by here three times, but this is the first time I got the food and dined in. The first two times I just picked up passionfruit tea to go. Naturally, I was curious to try the foods, so I came after working out. I didn't eat much during the day, so I was hungryyy. Luckily, the foods were up to standard. The house special assorted platter of traditional Viet foods was super tasty, and the beef banh hoi was pretty solid, although I wish the beef had a bit more flavor. We came by on a weekday dinner around 5:30pm and it was pretty empty but felt cozy and peaceful with the calm Viet music playing in the background. Service was quick We got the woven vermicelli as well as the appetizer sampler. Appetizer sampler came with 2 of each item which was perfect for us to share and split. None of the apps stood out significantly but at least the Banh Hoi satisfied our craving. The beef wrapped within the leaves were flavorful and juicy, pairing with vermicelli, lettuce and herbs helped balance out the flavors. With pork sausage & grilled pork. And Ribeye Pho. The pho was decent, it was dark broth on the sweet side with taste of star anise and cinnamon. Ribeye were fresh and served on the side so it's entirely up to you whether you prefer to dip the rare ribeye on sriracha and hoisin separately (like me) or you like to mix and add the meat to the broth or maybe just swish swish (the sound and action of rapidly cooking the meat in the pot for 10-30 seconds before dipping it into savory sauces). However I highly recommend their woven vermicelli dishes. It's fun, you make your own wraps with the rice paper, dip in water, add meats vegetables and sauce and roll. Very fresh and fun. TLDR authentic viet food in SF Not a lot of places have first of all banh hoi which is this woven vermicelli and on top of that bo la lot which is beef wrapped in betel leaves. They even served mam tom (shrimp paste) sauce that was designed to be less strong and easily palatable. Typically the mam tom is too strong for most people. It was served with banh trang (rice paper) so we can roll it and it was amazing. The ambiance is quaint and prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of effort this dish takes. I came across Que Viet while exploring the city on a chilly day, perfect pho weather. The restaurant is cute, cozy, and filled with natural light from all the windows. On my first visit, I ordered the spring rolls with shrimp and the chicken pho. I love how they use the thicker noodles, and the chicken broth was very flavorful. I went back again to try the beef tartare and the shrimp pho. The broth isn't really like traditional pho, but it's still very tasty. I visited on a Monday afternoon when looking for a late lunch option in the city - no lot, surrounding street parking only. I ordered the Beef Pho and my boyfriend ordered the Short Rib Pho -- we were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes, they were huge !! Only complaints were the price (~$20 each) and the fact that the short rib was a bit tough and was hard to get off the bone. Otherwise, the broth flavor was good and the amount of meat and noodles were very generous. This definitely satisfied the pho craving that I had, but not sure if it's somewhere I'd visit again as it didn't stand out. I love the variety of dishes offered here. It's more than just your typical pho/garlic noodle type Vietnamese restaurant. I decided to try non soup based items. The grilled meats were all delicious and the duck breast was moist and not too chewy. I really liked all our dishes. The garlic noodle had a great garlic taste but was buttery and not dry like a lot of other places can make it. I wasn't sure which dish the rice paper was for but it was a fun experience and went great with a lot of different items. I did wish the service was a bit better. The food came out quick but no one ever came to refill water or asked if we needed anything. I definitely needed more napkins for how messy and hands on the dishes were. This place confuses me. The banh hoi is really good. I wish they'd only make variations of it to serve cause everything else was so bad that it makes me not want to come back. This dish is 4-5stars. Everything else is a 1-2. Parking is wretched. Street only and there's a one way that you have to back out of. Rough getting back onto the Main Street. Service is slow but fine. I stumbled on this restaurant last year while in mission bay for an appointment. The inside is really cute and modern and the service is attentive. Stopped in for lunch today and ordered the house favorites (imperial rolls, banh khot, banh xeo, shrimp spring rolls, and pot stickers), lunch special mini beef pho, and the garlic egg noodles with sea bass and pork. What a great find!!! I was in the area craving Vietnamese food, and luckily Yelp led me to this spot. Walked in on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed--always a good sign. I went with their signature dish (as everyone recommended): the beef and short rib pho, loaded up with sprouts, onion, cilantro, mint, and a squeeze of lime. Really solid Vietnamese food in SoMA! I came here for lunch after seeing pictures of the banh hoi (woven vermicelli) plates and we ordered the grilled beef in lolot leaf and tiger shrimp banh hoi and bahn xeo (vietnamese egg crepe) to share. Loved the banh hoi which came with nuoc nam and pineapple sauce, the woven vermicelli pieces, minced beef rolls, shrimp, lettuce + herbs and rice paper to wrap it all in. It's fun to make your own rolls and the flavors were so so good! A nice mix of sweet and savory with the fresh herbs to accompany the punchy sauces. The bahn xeo was pretty good as well. You can pick between shrimp, pork, and tofu as the protein and while the crepe was larger than I expected for an app portion, I wished it was crispier. The best part about bahn xeo for me is the crispy, lacey edges which this one didn't have. All in all though a really good lunch spot! There were 2 employees working the floor and I was seated promptly and given a menu. They seem to do a fair amount of take-out/deliveries which is a good sign. I ordered the Imperial Spring Rolls as a starter. They came out piping hot and they were delicious. The outside was super crunchy and was not oily at all. There was plenty of tasty meat filling and the accompanying veggies were fresh and added some cleanness to the fried rolls. The beef short rib rice plate was also very good. I will point out that there was only one rib which is borderline skimpy. In any event, it was tasty although a bit chewy. A large beer, an appetizer, and a main was just short of $50. I'd say it's a bit pricey but since it's San Francisco, I guess it's expected. If I'm looking for good Vietnamese food near Oracle Park, I'd consider coming back. read more

I'd recommend getting anything with grilled pork, as it was easily my favorite of the meats. I tried my friend's chicken pho, and it wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad.
