We drove past this restaurant easily a dozen times on our trips to the Cora grocery store in…read moreForbach but as it is across the river from Germany and it is not readily apparent how to drive to it. We finally made it there on Saturday by taking the local back street in France to get to it from the Cora. We were able to eat out on the deck. A German party/dinner barge drifted past then pivoted back but it was a minor distraction. There were about six other couples and a party of six couples there with us. No one was eating inside. Service was friendly and the wait staff spoke enough English and us enough French for us to fumble our way through the orders. We ordered the set menus (29€ per); the wife had the freshwater fish (?) with escargot app and I had the pork medallions with carpaccio app and we both ordered the creme brulee. The portions were large for a French restaurant. The food was tasty but not awe inspiring. Our wine choices were fantastic (rose 3€ and I believe a pinot noir 5€). I found it funny that they didn´t offer any French beer choices - only German and there I was in the mood for a Fischer. Easily two thirds of the people around us ordered steak tartare - it seemed to be the dish to have but we weren´t that adventurous, the carpaccio was enough raw meat for us. Generally speaking, eating out in French restaurants in France isn´t cheap and that rule applied here as well but we did not go away hungry either. We will go back and try their brick oven pizzas next time.

This family style eatery is in the food court of the Cora supermarket. We are a family of 5 and I…read morewas thrilled how lucky we were to come here for a late lunch. You order your meals and help yourself to get a table of your choice while the staff make your pizzas. The pizza bread is not thick and not too thin. The Gorgonzola cheese added gives the saltiness that the pizza needs. They are generous in the amount of ricotta cheese given if you choose the pizza that has it included. Keep in mind for tomato based pizzas, it's more of a tomato paste, than a marinara sauce. Or maybe this is a French style pizza? Customer service was wonderful and the pizzas are made from scratch and ready quickly. Please note that one pizza can feed 1-2 people. We will be back again at our next large grocery visit to Cora. We will try the crepes next time.
