Diana took me back put an ice pack on my neck because I was sweating. Diana treated me like I was her most loving family member. I had never experienced laryngitis, even after 42 years of traveling as a motivational speaker and comedienne. I have asked so much of my voice over the years, and it has always delivered. This time felt different. I was honestly afraid. It was Friday, and I was flying out Monday for a keynote conference in Jacksonville. I needed help! She went above and beyond, sending more than I needed in pharmaceutical prescriptions to Walmart, with refills. Then she handed me her card, looked me in the eye, and said, "Now Toni, if you need anything else, you let me know, and we'll take good care of you." And I could tell she meant it. Today is Sunday, I feel better in my lungs, and cough, but I am now coughing up signs of infection from my lungs. With one quick call to Natalie in the office, she carefully noted my request for an antibiotic. Minutes later, she called me back to get the zip code of my hotel in Jacksonville so she could locate a nearby pharmacy. The doctor on call had my prescription sent there for pickup the next day when I arrive. Joanna took the time to look me in the eye and make me feel cared for. Natalie took the time on the phone to make sure I knew I was going to be okay. We need more caregivers who operate from their humanity as their greatest amenity in business. If I am ever back in Galveston, this is where I'm going. In fact, I'm holding onto their number. BTW -- when I asked Natalie what I owed for the phone consultation, she told me they were happy to help. WOW. I wish I could give them a million stars. When you are sick, this is exactly the kind of care you need. Thank you to everyone who was so kind and helpful. I did not care too much for this free-standing emergency room. The nurse was okay, she wheeled me to the restroom, but she made sly inappropriate comments to lighten the mood, but they weren't needed and made me feel more uncomfortable. Even the sonographer acted like she couldn't hold a conversation, smile, or pretend like she was interested in helping me. She applied the warm gel to my legs to assess them. I attempted to ask her why the gel was warm since I'm used to it being cold. She just quickly gave me an answer and then moved the machine so that I wouldn't see what she was seeing on the screen. The overall clinic was clean and had a pleasant scent. The doctor had a cool personality. He was nice and polite. He gave me my diagnosis, but couldn't handle my reaction as I was devasted. It wasn't his fault and honestly, it is still unknown why I was diagnosed with the condition I have. The atmosphere of the urgent care was cold and ominous.

I'm so extremely grateful to Dr. Koh for being so throrough, detailed, and meticulous with recording so much info for my chart & my case. I'll forever be eternally grateful to her for the official diagnosis so I could finally begin the first steps of applying for disability. She's highly knowledeable, compassionate, and is genuinely interested in helping her patients find the best solution possible for their ailments. She is a relatively young Dr., but somehow she knows more than doctors who are twice her age!! She graduated from med school from the University Toronto, which I feel is a great advantage because American med schools don't seems to teach hardly anything about super-rare diseases (at least not about the one that I have, which affects roughly 1 out of about every 100,000). If you feel that you're suffering from a rare disease & are hoping for some answers, Dr. Koh is by far the best, most knowledgeable doctor to go see. I spent nearly 30 years of going to specialists, only to be left without a single answer. All the other doctors would never listen & would all always blow me off, so after about ten years of trying, I gave up all hope for over 20 years regarding seeking help from specialists until it became critical for me to start seeking to apply for disability. Dr. Koh is the only doctor who I've ever seen who actually genuinely cares about helping me with my disease & who actually listens to me & who treats me with compassion, dignity & respect!! By far the best specialist I've ever seen, and I've seen my share of doctors off and on going way back to 1997!!

No one returned my call. I called again later in the day and spoke with Tila who is not very knowledgeable and she took a second message for the doctor to return my call. On March 10th the doctor still didn't respond to my messages so I called again and spoke Crisida (name might be misspelled) I gave her the same message "I'm not feeling well and is my blood work normal". She left me on hold and then informed me the doctor was calling me on the other line but I never received a missed call. I waited about 20 minutes and call their office again and I spoke with a lady and didn't get her name but she's an older lady and I heard huffing and pudding attitude over the phone which is ridiculous but she informed me the doctor was supposively calling me again but Crisida failed to tell me that Dr. Abdelmasih was calling me from a blocked number which is fine but then I would need to adjust my phone settings. Third attempt the doctor finally called me and she seemed bothered because she was driving and her responses to my concerns were Uh huh okay. I'm a new patient with UTMB or wait I was a patient with this medical provider and I will medical treatment elsewhere. The staff members who answer your incoming calls need better training and Tila if she's a nurse then IDK why she couldn't answer any of my concerns regarding the medication.

Before he was even finished the fixer was right behind him. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and the flu. He spoke to my wife who was on on speaker because our son was still sleeping at home. He answered about 50 questions we had and gave us the follow up care. Then he called us the next day to ask how our daughter was doing. This is an amazing hospital! I will only go here if I can help it.
