Being at an urgent care is already stressful and uncomfortable, but the way I was treated throughout this visit made an already difficult situation significantly worse. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff appeared completely indifferent to the fact that I was there. I was visibly crying throughout check-in, yet no one offered me a tissue or even checked to see if I was okay. The check-in iPad was directly in front of the front desk employee, which made the complete lack of acknowledgment even more frustrating. I then waited approximately 20 minutes alone in the waiting room while I could hear nurses and doctors laughing and talking amongst themselves. Given that I was visibly distressed and in pain, it was extremely upsetting to feel like I was being left there until they were finished talking and laughing. When I was finally taken back, the provider immediately began assuming that I was pregnant. I am a single woman with an IUD, and while pregnancy is never technically impossible, the assumption felt inappropriate and dismissive given the reason I was there. Throughout my time in the exam room, I continued crying because I was in significant pain. Again, not one nurse or doctor offered me a tissue or checked on me. I came in because I was experiencing severe back pain, and I was given a shot in my butt of what I was told was essentially "amplified Tylenol." I was instructed to wait approximately 15 minutes to see whether it helped. Not even five minutes later, the doctor came back into the room and abruptly told me, essentially, "You have a kidney infection. If you throw up or have a fever, go to the ER. Okay, see you later." There was no meaningful explanation, no thorough discussion, and I felt like the entire visit was being rushed to an end. I was prescribed antibiotics for the supposed kidney infection and began taking them as instructed. Four days later, my lab results came back completely negative, with NO SIGN OF AN INFECTION. Naturally, I called the urgent care because I was concerned about being prescribed antibiotics for an infection that my laboratory results did not support. The person identifying herself as the "manager" told me that sometimes "bacteria just doesn't show up on labs." I found that explanation extremely concerning, especially considering how quickly I had been diagnosed and how little explanation I was given during my original visit. At that point, I decided to go to a different urgent care for a second opinion. The doctor there immediately questioned and ultimately disproved the kidney infection diagnosis due to the lack of evidence supporting it. I was specifically instructed to stop taking the antibiotics. The difference between these two experiences was unbelievable. The second doctor actually took the time to evaluate my symptoms, consider the available evidence, and explain their reasoning. My experience at this urgent care felt rushed, dismissive, and careless from beginning to end. I understand that urgent cares are busy and that medical professionals see difficult situations every day. However, basic compassion, communication, and thoroughness should not be too much to expect from a healthcare provider. I was visibly distressed and in pain, yet I felt ignored by the staff and dismissed by the provider. Being incorrectly diagnosed is serious enough, but being prescribed antibiotics for an infection that another doctor found no evidence of is even more concerning. If you are told you have a kidney infection here, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion, especially if your test results do not support the diagnosis. Unless you want to potentially walk out with antibiotics for an infection you may not have, I strongly recommend going somewhere else. DO NOT COME HERE.

I visited yesterday to get some basic lab work done (they have an LPN who does bloodwork when needed but otherwise limited lab services). I was disappointed to see they closed the pharmacy months ago but haven't done anything new with the space. It looks like a construction zone for a poorly run healthcare facility, not like any other Kaiser location. I now visit the Harmony location for most needs since Dr. Walsh was moved there and it is the only Fort Collins location with an on-site pharmacy. However, it is very out of the way from CSU campus and Old Town and very odd to have a location with physicians but no pharmacy. I use the mail order pharmacy when I can but would not want to drive to another location to pick up a prescription following a doctor's appointment. The receptionist, James, is very kind and helpful and has been there a while, but his desk has been moved to the former pharmacy desk (in front of empty pharmacy shelving) which is pretty cheap looking. In addition, they only have 2 physicians at this location and don't seem to be adding more doctors or space. Perhaps Kaiser has a plan in place, but at the moment this location leaves much to be desired. I did find out that the old pharmacist was moved to Longmont and the old lab tech was moved to another Kaiser facility as well, which is good to hear. Kaiser Northern Colorado has a lot of logistical things to work out before it can become a mainstay in this region. It balks in comparison to the larger Kaiser regions and facilities.

I would encourage patients to find alternate care with a provider who is transparent in scheduling practice and provides proper customer service training for their staff.

The office staff however, is another story. They refuse to do simple things like following up with insurance to get prior authorizations for medications they prescribed. I have one medication that was prescribed 2 months ago that they still haven't submitted the paperwork for. When I called to tell them that insurance still hadn't received the paperwork, and to ask that they send a new prescription to the pharmacy so I could buy it out of pocket (because I actually need the meds...) they intentionally hung up on me. Several weeks later, they sent me a letter in the mail saying they are dropping me as a patient. I guess they only take patients that don't require paperwork. I recognize that those of us with chronic illnesses are more work, but that doesn't mean we deserve to be dropped just because some of our medications require prior authorizations. Also, if you're considering David Ottolenghi (the other doctor at the practice) beware, he doesn't believe in vaccines... I sure wouldn't want a doctor who trusts politicians over science.

Just fyi. They are emailing paperwork beforehand to complete so that is nice. Be sure to put an email on file. They also do a text and phone reminder of appointments. You go in and check in. They are generally pretty prompt in getting you back. They are currently still taking a temp before taking you back. Dr Junker went through my medical history beforehand since i had not seen her. She seemed intuitive and asked a lot of good questions. She was very thorough. I appreciated the level of care. She also ran some bloodwork that hadn't been done before but she thought was good to check since i am vegan and have some autoimmune issues. I appreciated the thoroughness.

When I arrived for my visit the front desk collected my $125. Now *five* months later I get a bill for an additional $105!!! When I called to complain I was told that the $125 was only a "down payment"! And that their people were supposed to have informed me of this (they didn't). I was further told that they "can't do anything about it"... but they are sorry their staff didn't tell me that the $125 was only a down payment. They are outright lying. This is all a scheme to squeeze additional cash out of patients who have already paid. Whoever heard of a business that quotes a price for a service that is only a down payment? These people are sleazier than an unlicensed out-of-town roofing contractor after a hail storm. Stay away!!!!
