After seeing all the reviews on Yelp and Google, I was so scared to go, however, I didn't have any issues. Maybe I got lucky? I made an appointment online for 6:50am. I arrived at 6:40am and checked in at the kiosk, I was called in at 6:42am and was out of there within 5 minutes. The employees were super nice as well! Yes, it's a little difficult to find, there's literally no staff in the waiting room area which can be a little disconcerting. Once you check in at the kiosk, the employees in the backroom hear a ding so they know you're waiting. Honestly, if you don't wanna wait, just make an appointment super early, they open at 6:30am. There was no one else there when I went. On my way out, there were 2 people waiting. All in all it was easy peasy! Glad I was out of there quickly despite all the bad reviews. read more

Went to Quest again for more lab work. As they say, three times the charm? I did contact Quest ahead of time to let them know about the horrific experience I had with one of their techs. Charna called me back and assured me that she will discuss with the tech and make sure that doesn't happen again (see my prior review). I let Charna know when I was scheduled to come in again and she made sure to let the tech know to help me (especially with small and hidden veins). My tech today was great! She said she talked to Charna and was so apologetic that I had a horrible experience last time even though it wasn't even her. She took her time to find my teeny tiny shy veins and was able to get it on the first try with a little work with no pain or bruising. Really appreciate the care and attention. read more

Came to drop off a specimen that doctor ordered. I did not have an appointment - but did not have to do anything but drop off. Waited 30 minutes for first person to come out and she yelled at me and and was very rude. She said she can't talk to me - the person she was working with just left for lunch. I don't know where the 2 of them were for the last half of an hour. Waited to just drop something off that didn't require an appointment. Took both of my daughters two weeks ago for labs. I had to request results for both. I received the results for one, but not the other. I cannot get ahold of anyone to help me. I've sent manual requests, emailed, chatted and called numerous times. I am currently on hold again and it's been saying the wait time is 30-40 minutes the whole time I've been on hold (I've been on hold for 42 minutes already). What are people supposed to do? Stopped by this lab to get a drug test done for a company, there was no wait at all. If anything, this location seemed on the verge of closing down: no one at front desk, just self check in kiosks. After checking myself in as a walk in, I sat for 2 minutes in an empty waiting room before being called in. The star is for Irina who always does a great job finding my only vein! However, the organization there is terrible. Even with an appointment I have waited 30 -45 min. If you do not have an appointment you might end up waiting for up to 2 hours - there were people in the waiting room who told me they have come as a walk-in patient and have been there for two hours. Many patients have suggested that Quest hires a receptionist who is responsible for all the paperwork and entering the patient's info in the system so that the phlebotomists do what their job is - drawing blood NOT dealing with paperwork and computers!! Quest is a disaster! 1. Francis tried to insert a needle in my vein but failed, leaving me with a painful mark, then she tried another arm before finally "succeeding". I did not feel happy being a Guinea pig. That is another bad experience in my 3rd visit at Quest at 2 locations (V.H. and Gurnee). 2. Then I can never retrieve my results in my portal, and your customer service cannot find my results, because Request Results "Submit" button is always shaded. What a mess!!! 3. I've only come here at 7:30 with an appointment so I can't speak for the walk-in experience. This location doesn't open until 7:30 during the week which for me is why I can only give 3 stars. Other locations open between 6 and 7 which is perfect for people who have to get to work early or who have had to fast. Don't expect the doors to even be open here until 7:30 so your best bet in the winter is to stay in your car until right before 7:30. Otherwise you will stand in the cold. But starting at 7:30 they bring you back right away and start all the paperwork and everything. I'm usually out by 7:45. Most of the phlebotomists were friendly and didn't have too much trouble drawing my blood. I have small veins so it sometimes is hit or miss. I only had one bad experience where the phlebotomist was not very friendly and it took her a couple tries to get the needle in the proper vein. I would absolutely only come here with an appointment otherwise you will sit around in the AM as when my appointment is done the waiting room is packed and they usually only have about one or two phlebotomists on hand. You can easily make the appointment online, which is what I've always done. read more

I have bin going there for blood work for years. My son needed an annual check up with blood work. He has never had this done and doesn't care for needles so I went with him ( he's 22) . We get there and had a 9:15 appointment. The place was pack, but because we had an appointment they called us on time. Get to the desk and my son does not have his wallet with insurance and I'd. I went here on an off time (mid-week, early in the morning). I've been waiting for over an hour. They've been so slow that others in the waiting room have started joking that they're not even sure if someone is actually working here. The customer service has been poor too. It's already an unpleasant experience when you have to take your three year old child in for bloodwork, and I don't need the staff lecturing me in a nasty tone about how long I waited. I had the order to get my daughter's blood drawn for just under 2 months. I got to the lab as fast as I could between working full time and having a baby at home. The woman who drew my daughter's blood was hostile, mean, and condescending. She essentially scolded me for waiting too long to get her blood drawn (WOW. REALLY? This place is not well run. For starters, they never answer the phone and when they do, they're not very helpful. The wait time is atrocious, probably because its so understaffed. I don't understand why a large company like Quest cannot invest the money to hire better trained people and increase the staff. During this Codiv-19 pandemic, I made my appt online, specifically, for the 2nd earliest time available. The early slots were supposed to be reserved for elderly, and those with underlying health conditions. When I arrived, no one checked to see if I had a temp (nor did they ask) and the only way to let them know you arrived was to type in your information on an ipad type device, along with everyone else, with their dirty hands. I was supposed to be able to do a hands free sign in, using the qr code they'd emailed, but that was not available after all. There were 4 other people waiting. So much for the precautionary measures to keep the elderly and unwell people safe. Neither technician was good at finding a vein, as I was poked 4 times. When I finally left an hour after I'd arrived, the waiting room was packed. All it would take was one person with Covid-19 and that entire room would get it!!! I'm never going back again. I've been here three times and each time was a problem. I can tell you that one of the workers literally told me she used the wrong needle and couldn't see! We had to do another blood draw. They are also very unprofessional and although I gave her a script for a stat order she argued with me about it until the doctors office confirmed to her it was stat. I went here for an employer health screening and will not go back in the future. There was no one at the front desk when I arrived for my appointment so I checked in on the ipad out front. When someone finally came to the desk 20 minutes later they accused me of being late and said I would have to wait with the walk-in's. The employee was very rude and seemed overwhelmed. Once they realized my check-in time was before my appointment they called me right away and explained they were understaffed while each trying to take a lunch break. The worst Quest Diagnostics location in the area. Making an appointment doesn't help if the person who made an appointment a half hour before you shows up during your appointment time and then receives service before you. My doctor's office repeatedly sent the order for my blood work to their office (by fax and online!) -- and they told me my doctor's office "was lying." I've wasted a lot of time showing up for appointments and being told there wasn't an order, or having to wait because other people can't show up on time. I always liked that Quest took appointments before walk-ins...but when someone shows up 45 minutes late, you shouldn't punish the person who showed up on time! read more
