Don't get me wrong... their pizza is pretty good. But "pretty good" is a far cry from exceptional. We ordered six pies - their award-winning Margherita Verace, the Carciofini, Signorina Iamm'Ia, Carpricciosa, La Divina Commedia, and their version of the four-cheese pizza, called Quatro Formaggi Alle Erbe. In typical Neapolitan fashion, they serve 12-inch pizzas with thin and crispy crusts and well-balanced toppings. It was all standard fare; nice but far from memorable. Nothing to write home about. We also tried many of their desserts, including the Tiramisu, Cannoli, and Semifreddo. It was all average at best. On the bright side, the dinner was fairly inexpensive; we spent 740 Reais for dinner for six (6 pizzas, 4 desserts, no alcohol). In summary, Leggera Pizza Napoletana is NOT the 11th best pizza in the world. Nor are they the best in Latin America. We expected to be dazzled, so it was all a big letdown.

The language barrier was not too overbearing, but we had been in the country a few days at this point, so we knew a few key words to get us going, also the guy that greeted us at the front (whom was very well dressed might I add) was super nice and helpful in ensuring we had everything we needed for an amazing dining experience. The Caprisi salad: Delicious. The Bruschetta: Awesome. The Pizzas: Phenominal! I had no idea Brazil was so big on pizza, they're everywhere! Something this pizza-lover was very happy to find out. Aside from the exquisitely delectable food offerings, the decor was one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been in. There is this exotic, outdoorsy - garden feel to it (it IS an indoor joint tho) truly a beautiful space. I dream of returning to Brazil one day and hopefully this amazing restaurant will still be around to help me relive that beautiful, culinary smorgasbord we experienced the first time around.
