This is one of the few restaurants/bars we return to over and over. Stopped by tonight after a canal skate. What better way to warm up than in a warm cozy pub with conversation all around you? The sweet potatoes fries were good before, but now come with a sriracha mayo. That small change bumbed those fries up a notch. Along with that, ordered wings and beer. All good as usual. Neighbourhood institution. It's small, but mighty. The food is excellent pub fare. The staff are awesome and friendly. The atmosphere is comforting, although can be a bit loud for some. I find the seating great for intimate conversation or excellent for a lone traveller looking for conversation. If there's space, I'm always down for Quinn's when I'm in the area. Patty's pub is a nice alternative just a block or two down if you want more space. If I'm still correct, they are the same family and their service and atmosphere are very relative. I've frequented both over the years and have zero complaints with either. Always friendly service and an authentic pub feel. Very much worth supporting the local businesses and their family. As I said they are an institution in old Ottawa south. read more

I came Monday night for the half off wing special. Tip: don't order the unique flavors, stick with your originals...I tried two of them and they were not good, and I was unhappy. Dry dusted Cajun was really good! Wings are big and not overlooked and meaty. Atmosphere: super tiny pub, no reservations...some seats have couches which is super comfy. Lighting is dim. Service: I almost left because the waitress saw us but she was the only one working the bar, serving food, and getting the bill to people. We stood in the doorway for over 10 mins. We asked to seat ourselves to which she agreed. She was very pleasant and helpful to explain the weird wing flavors, but they need more servers. read more

Quinn's is a slightly upscale bistro disguised as a low-key pub. The food is always better than you expect it should be. The menu is fun to read. The food is creative, well-prepared and tasty. It really is a hole-in the wall, however -- probably not the place for first-dates, visiting in-laws or fussy friends. The highlight of a recent visit was a homemade lamb stew on mixed champ (potatoes, scallions, etc.) with local Beau's beer on tap. Just for the heck of it, the kitchen sent out some tiny perfect blueberry shortcakes as a complimentary dessert for our party of four. Seating is tight and the winter winds blow from the front door but Quinn's really is as good as it gets for Ottawa pub food. The tiny patio deck out back is nice in the summer. read more

This pub may be a hole in the wall and a bit cramped, but the mood and food make up for it! A friend and I decided on a whim to dive into Quinns instead of the Barley Mow on a whim. It looked quite dark and uninviting from the outside, it more than made up for it with its warmth and atmosphere once inside the doors. The space was tight, and even though it was 8:30 on a Tuesday night, the place was packed. (In the winter, with all the extra coats, I could see it getting a little claustrophobic, but still well worth the visit!) The sound was loud, but because you were sitting close, it wasn't difficult to maintain a conversation. Plus, I felt like I was encouraged to be loud and animated, which is always a fun bonus! He ordered a Guinness that was poured with the exact right amount of foamy head. My tea and Baileys was spot on. We decided to split a cup of sweet potato fries (Yes! They come in a large Central Perk-sized mug wrapped in paper) and they were absolutely delicious. Possibly the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. They weren't greasy, warm (and stayed warm for a long while as we munched and chatted), crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. They weren't too dense either. Simply perfect! Price for 2 drinks and 1 app -- $20 and TOTALLY worth it. Our waitress was kind and prompt, but didn't hover or ask us forty thousand times how things were going. The lighting was not just dim, but dark -- however, the tea candles on each table made for an awesome glow. In the end, you have a pub food with pub fare, but I would say that it is well worth it if you're in Ottawa south and looking for a place with an upbeat atmosphere (I would definitely choose it over Georgetown or Patty's). I wouldn't travel across the city for it, but I will definitely return and will be recommending it to others. read more

This is, without a doubt, the most hilariously small bar or restaurant I've ever been in. But I love it. It's conveniently located next to the Mayfair so if you're in a small group it's well-situated if you'd like to grab a drink before or after your show. We haven't eaten here yet, though based on the reviews we'll have to give it a try. The atmosphere is fun because it's so small, it's noisy and ranges from "cozy" (when it's not busy) to "packed" (if any quantity of people show up at all). In the summer the patio doubles the size of the bar, but this summer was so crazy we didn't make it out while it was open. They have beers from Ashton Brewery on tap, which is a very solid choice. Their brown ale is particularly delicious, in my opinion. You can also order a litre of beer in a milk jug, which is a cute twist if you're buying beer for a couple of people. Alternatively, like my friend who brought us here the first time, you can just drink a litre of beer straight out of a milk jug. Definitely the best place for a drink in Old Ottawa South. Quinn's is a cozy, family owned neighborhood bar. The interior is warm and inviting, as are the staff. The food is generally good to very good, and there is a good selection of craft beer on draft - mostly Asthon's/ABC brewery. There is a patio, that is off the main street, that is a nice place for a pint in the summer. I've been here numerous times and would def. go back/recommend it if you are in the area, or want to meet someone before/after a movie at the Mayfair. There isn't a lot of seating inside, so don't be surprised if the place is packed. read more

As a visitor from Toronto, I didn't expect to find such yummy veggie burgers in Ottawa but boy, Quinn's Ale House does them well. Off their regular burger menu, you can substitute any of their beef patties with a vegetarian one at no additional cost. I got the Road House Burger (veggie option) and it was among the best burgers I've ever had, ever. About a year has passed since my visit (yes, this review is one year delayed) and my opinion remains the same: awesome, awesome vegetarian burgers. I will definitely pay another visit during my next stay in Ottawa. read more

Quinn's is a nice little quaint pub in Old Ottawa South with good food and good beer. I am sure that if you were a regular then you would get excellent prompt service, but as someone visiting for the first time I felt as though our table was being treated as an afterthought. Popped in here on a whim as a few of us were looking for a place to eat while in Old Ottawa South and to say that it is small and quaint is an understatement. It's really small, not much bigger than my living room in my apartment and it has some old armchairs, similar to something I used to see in my grandparents house before they decided to upgrade their furniture from the 1950's to the 1980's (sometime around 2002). They have a great selection of Ashton beers on tap, plus a variety of other popular domestic and imported brews, I decided to have an Ashton Cream Ale, which is a great beer for a hot day. For food I ordered Tandoori wings, which were very good although I have had better, while my girlfriend had a burger that she liked, so no problems on food and beer front, it was just the service that I found to be lacking (for a non-regular). It took us longer than normal for a small place to be acknowledged, which was not the end of the world, and it took a while for the waitress to come back with our beer orders. After a few minutes waiting for her to come back I looked over to see her chatting with the regulars (and not pouring beers) which was a tad annoying. Eventually we got our orders in, got our food, got satiated, and all seemed well until bill time. It took forever to get our bills (all while she was chatting at the bar) and they were incorrect when we got them. As we didn't have time to wait for her to take another 15 minutes to correct them we decided just to sort it out ourselves. Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice little pub, I just felt as though we were treated as outsiders compared to the regular crowd. read more

Good beer. Zero service. The server seemed inconvenienced by our presence. Beer was ok, food was average. Getting service was impossible, average 40 mins between check-ins. When we asked for the bill, it took 25 minutes for the server to bring it, then she dumped the machine on our table. Quinn's is AWESOME! I know Ottawa has more pubs per capita than you can shake a stick at, but Quinn's manages to stand head and shoulders above most of them. First, it is a tiny little, cozy place. You feel like you are at your best friend's place (although the seats are kinda low and you feel like a kid because the tables almost reach your chin). They serve all the usual pub grub and offer all the normal pub beers (Guinness, Stella, Keith's, et. al.). But, if you feel really brave, you can have your beer supersized and served to you in a mason jar (for only $15) - just like that bar in the Toby Keith song. The drink prices are a deal. My friend and I had four whiskeys and three glasses of wine and the bill came to only $38....Canadian! The crowd is mixed in age - so everyone should feel comfortable there. It can get crowded, so get there early. Especially during the week nights. We went on a Monday and it was packed solid. read more

Terrible customer service. Our server messed up our order by giving us extra and then did not own up for it. So we all had to pay extra out of her pockets for her mistake, when we asked to speak to a manager it turns our not so great waitress was the manager. She's offered empathy and did not try to help us sort out the miscommuncation. It was our first time there and the second we walked in she was unimpressed with the number of girls we had. I love Quinns! Me and my parnter moved here from Alberta about a year ago. We lived on Aylmer Ave which is literally a block away from Quinns. Since my partner's last name was Quinn, we decided it would be a safe bet! We were right, the service is great! Everyone is smiling and having a good time!
