The guy here was not only unhelpful but gave me terrible advice to go to a&e or get the oncall doctor to call out and get a or prescription. He could of helped out but didn't want to and was trying to say no pharmacy would help. Five minutes later I called Lloyd's in omni and they sorted me out straightaway and not only supplied me with two days medication but did it for free...avoid the jobsworth in here in cases of need.

Instead, the shop inside was no bigger than the bakery a few doors down, just one floor and sparsely stocked (compared to other chemists in town who seem driven to stock shelves so tightly you can't move). The goods on the go are mid-range, mostly back braces and sun tan creams. The old fashioned counter at the back is manned, not by a pharmacist, but an assistant who ferries the scripts to the back... very Wizard of Oz-ish if you ask

There was a young lad ahead of me that appeared to have 1st degree burns on his hands but he was having issues with the credit card that he was using - it was his Mam's and he forgot the PIN.... Very trusting Mam. My point is they stuck to procedure and explained that they needed the pin but they let him use the phone and basically it all ended in happiness.

Then again, we have four supermarkets, number of fast-food joints and several off-license stores so perhaps it's good that we never have to walk far for stomach-pills or hangover cures. Whether we need them all or not, Rathmines pharmacists go all out to make sure we stay healthy and clean. And competition is usually good for consumers. Doc Morris, which opened last year, is located only a few steps from Boots and lures in costumers with its modern and shiny interior and shelves stuffed with medicines and beauty-products. Apparently they got the Irish retailer awards last year for the best small store. I still have to do a proper price comparison, but they are now advertising a big price relief and better prices than our "old pharmacies" as they like to put it. Saving a few bucks always sounds good, but maybe too good to be true? And I've always liked the less flashy drugstores where the pharmacists make you feel that you're more than a means to make money. All the same, next time I feel fluey, I might pay Doc Morris a visit and check if they mean what they say and see if I can make some good deals on drugs.

They offer really good advice and I usually go in here before I decide to visit the doctor. A perfect example was last month when I had a really sore throat. They now offer a "Sore Throat Test and Treat Service" so they took a swab from my throat and were able to tell me in a few minutes what the cause was. As it was not bacterial (Strep Throat) they told me i could treat it with over the counter medicines. If it had been Strep Throat they would have sent me to my doctor to get antibiotics. It only cost me €7.50 and saved me the time and expense of visiting my doctor. On many occasions they have given me really helpful advice about the medicines I was taking and they are very friendly and approachable.
