Cool little local coffee spot to take a breather if you're walking around downtown. Seemed to be the only place open for coffee on Sunday for what it's worth. Quotations just underwent a full scale renovation not too long ago. And while the place looks great, and I love that they added a bar, I didn't feel like it really needed a renovation and not really sure what the bar is for since they are not serving alcohol. We've tried several times for breakfast because they're the only place in town you can get a bagel toasted, but it takes forever to get any of your food. This morning for example, it took 20 minutes for me to get two bagels to go that were supposed to be toasted that ended up not being toasted. There was only a few people in the restaurant at the time, all of which who are waiting for food. And this has happened every single time we've been in there, it just takes forever to get anything. I do love the fact that they are open on Sundays since almost every other place in town is not. There is also no online menu so it makes it hard to call in to go orders. read more

After having worked remotely just up the street at Cup & Saucer for the past few days, I decided to come and give Quotations a try, hoping for as great of an experience as Cup & Saucer. Unfortunately, my expectations fell short. You can tell that this is a place that has a lot of regulars, and while they treat and greet regulars very warmly here, we felt a gust of cold air when we approached the counter. There was no greeting, no small talk, and it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff by being there. We were not even acknowledged when we approach the counter until we ask the staff directly which side of the counter we should order from. This interaction stands in the sharp contrast to how they treat their clearly regular customers. Their staff is also stingy with the rewards program: we bought two drinks, and yet they only gave us one punch, I'm assuming because it was a single order. As a former barista myself, I try and give the benefit of the doubt to customer service workers whenever I go out, but having received such a warm reception at Cup & Saucer for several days in a row as a complete stranger in this town, I don't think I'll be returning to quotations again. All that being said, the space is lovely and the oh Christmas tree latte was tasty. My companion however, who drinks cappuccinos frequently, was not a fan of his cappuccino here. read more

Sadly, we had a terrible experience here. We ordered two bagel breakfast sandwiches, one oatmeal, and two coffees. It took about 30 minutes to get our food, when I think it should have taken 10. People who ordered similar items after us got their food way before we did. The bagels looked pretty, but they didn't taste as good. Everything on them was over-cooked, and the portions were small for the price compared to similar places we have been to. The staff forgot our oatmeal until we asked about it again. Then when we received it, there were very few toppings (3 raisins ). Our friend got a lox bagel and there was barely any cream cheese on it. I would expect at least a mm or 2 of cream cheese on a bagel. On a positive note, the coffees were very good and came out in a timely manner. I would recommend coffee here. They also had many alternative milk options, and I appreciated that. Overall, I think they just might need more staff or maybe better team organization. My husband worked at a place similar to this in the past, and I know it can be crazy when there's a lot of people waiting in line for food. Knowing from experience, the way that the kitchen staff and front of house work together can make or break a customer's experience. I hope this place does well, but they just need to change a couple things to make it better. Increase portion sizes and improve staff organization and/or hire more employees. read more

The Good: Really fantastic coffee from Counter Culture in Asheville. Very large space with lots of tables, outdoor seating, and arm chairs in a secluded area of the shop. Three baristas working when I visited and they expertly handled the steady flow of customers. My mocha latte was smooth and helped to fuel this review! On site parking makes it really easy to get to. The Bad: It can get busy, and therefor noisy, but I never saw it crowded. Limited outlets if you need to plug in while getting any work done. Bottom Line: This is my second favorite coffee shop in Brevard, but honestly it would probably be my favorite for spending an hour or two to get some writing done. A quaint coffee shop situated right across from the farmers market here. I ordered a 16 oz vanilla latte, which was perfectly balanced and just as I ordered. We were hiking in the DuPont State Forest... then the dark clouds rolled in and the sunlight disappeared... we made a mad-dash back to the car and just barely beat the storm (though we still managed to get a bit wet). All that hiking and then the sudden need to pump up the adrenaline and flee the forest worked up a thirst... and a craving for something sweet. We drive into Brevard and Quotations caught our attention as we passed by.... U-turn First things first, we decided to hit the bathrooms to clean up a bit.... they don't have a bathroom in Quotations; turns out they have community bathrooms they share with the other building tenants. I don't normally like that since no single tenant takes responsibility to clean them when they get nasty; thankfully they were quite clean. The place itself is rather large for a coffee shop... that's when I realized they offer so much more... panini's, sandwiches, soups, quiche, salads; plus the expected coffee and pastries. And I even caught glimpse of an ice cream case. Seems they have it all. The place is comfortable and the staff is very friendly.... unfortunately there is a "BUT" in there. The coffee wasn't great... it was just okay. We shared a brownie and a scone... the brownie was moist, rich and everything a chocolate brownie should be. The scone was huge and looked super dry; thankfully, you can't go by looks (delicious). I've spent a couple weeks per year each of the past few years up in Cashiers, NC. I drive to Brevard often on my way hiking in the DuPont State Forest and up in Pisgah or simply on my way Asheville. Quotations started out a as a place I could drop in to meet my Internet needs before & after hikes, but as I started experimenting more with the menu, I really enjoyed coming here even more. The paninis they have are delicious. I've brought a half-dozen friends and family here throughout the years and everyone agrees that they're delicious and fresh! The ice cream is a nice treat after a strenuous hike. Not 31 flavors, but they have enough that you'll find something creamy & delicious! And the price for a scoop or two is just a couple bucks. They don't overcharge for an inexpensive treat. I've had a couple of their cinnamon rolls, pieces of cake & pie. Not a tasty treat to be had! The lattes and coffee are also served fresh & hot and have been a welcome pick-me-up on my travels all throughout the area. read more

This was my first time coming to a local cafe around the area, and having high expectation of the place the coffee and bagel were amazing but the customer service was terrible. My friend was not able to drink dairy and ordered a drink with oat milk and when she got her drink it was made with dairy. She then nicely told the barista that there was dairy in her drink and asked to have it remade. The barista apologized about it and told her that they could fix her drink but 5 minutes later he came out with the same drink and told her that they had made it the right way and gave it back to her but she said that she could taste the dairy in it, so he took it back and the barista who made it gave her the new drink and threw it down on the table and said that "It will taste the same as the first one cause I made it with oat milk" and she also threw down the straw as well. I used to work at a local coffee shop for two years and I can easily say that I was not impressed with the quality of the coffee. I ordered an iced coffee with room for cream and it was filled to the brim with no room for cream. I went to the counter to ask someone to pour some of it out and it took awhile for someone to notice me. My boyfriend ordered a small hot coffee which is a self serve station. The nice thing about the self-serve is that there were many options to choose from but I was not impressed with it for being a locally owned business. The best thing about visiting is that one of the baristas gave us some advice on hiking and waterfall areas. We didn't have any food but the pastries smelled amazing. I really enjoy this coffee shop and the food and drink selection. We come from a few towns over to work here because the environment is so comfortable and warm. The only flaw is that it is quite pricey for coffee, well over Starbucks. Despite all that, I think it's worth it for the quality of roasts and ingredients.
