The Trash Can Pizza 16" Large Specialty Pizza $20
    Kelly C.

Overall: 3.25 Stars Located on Hwy 49 a few miles away of Gulf Port, this small building can be missed if you don't use Map app unless you are a local who enjoys good pizza. Limited seating inside, more of a takeout than dining experience. Staff were pleasant and fun. There are three size options. We opted for the large, 16" served as 8 slices. Food - 3.75 Stars We ordered the following 1. Kitchen Sink - 3.5 - it was good but we preferred The Trash Can. View the pictures for the list of ingredients. 2. The Trash Can - 3.5 - has everything as on the Kitchen Sink but with roasted chicken, cherry tomatoes and fresh greens. 3. Pepperoni 3.25 Stars - you can't go wrong on the Pepperoni. The sliced pepperoni were larger the normal ones but still tasty The reason we chose this place is because they use a brick oven, so you will get a thin and charred bottom crust. The crust is chewy and can hold most of the ingredients but we thought the crust was a little too chewy for our liking. The ingredients were fresh and savory. However the tomato sauce was sweeter than normal. It need more Italian seasoning it the mixture. Also, they serve other meal options if you don't want a pizza. I don't why you would do that, but "Hey" each to your own liking.

Everything but the kitchen sink. The pizza had a great chew and the taste was amazing. We will be back.

Great tasting pizza. The side salad was delicious. If you haven't tried it run it's worth the effort.

Service was excellent, the prices were affordable and worth what I received. It's a genuine brick oven pizza place with excellent food. Would recommend.

Great pizza spot right off of highway 49, just outside of Gulfport! The brick oven pizza is great and tons of loaded pies! The brick oven is a sight to see with the big fire going!!

We came in from out of town to visit family and wound up at this place after visiting a nearby park with the kids. This place does NOT have a kids' menu, high chairs, and has very, very limited seating. With two kids under the age of 3 this was a little bit of a struggle but we made it work and I'm happy we did because the pizza was really good. The kids shared a small cheese pizza, I had a small pepperoni, my mom got a small Stromboli, and we all had leftovers. We waited about 15 minutes for our pizzas, which was very reasonable, and when they arrived they were hot and yummy. There were a few spots particularly on the bottom of the Stromboli that got a little blacker than we would have liked but over all we were very happy. My 3 year niece remarked several times that the pizza was "really good" and her tummy "really liked it". So there you have it, out of the mouth of babes.

    Super cool brick oven

This has got to be the best secret pizza restaurant just inland of the Mississippi Coast. So I am blowing their cover. It is a small pizza joint on Hwy 49, about 15 miles north of Gulfport, with a few tables inside and a couple picnic tables outside. You can see them making your pizza in the oven and they invited us back to watch them put it in. The ingredients were fresh and it wasn't expensive either. We got an order of cheese bread and a two ingredient pizza with ham and meatballs. They were all great. The cheese bread was large enough for a family of 4 or 5 to share. The medium pizza was good for 4 people to show. The staff were super friendly and gave us great suggestions. The menu is large so you can always find something to eat. We will make it a tradition to stop here and eat on our way to the Holly Berry Christmas Tree farm about 10 minutes away.

We have been there four times now over the last year since our friends turned us on to this place a year ago. I come from an Italian family background of great cooks and recipes and I have to say this place truly fulfills my cravings for true Italian dishes. The linguine and white clam sauce is to die for! Perfect every time I've ordered it. The calamari has always been cooked to perfection and my wife says she can't get enough of the stuffed mushrooms. We took our daughter, who is visiting from Colorado, for the first time last night and she claimed the ziti plate she ordered was incredibly good. The staff is always very friendly and our service has always been excellent. The only reason we don't eat there more often is because it's a very long drive from our home and they don't have the linguine and clams at the Pass Christian location, (which is much closer to our home), yet, but I was promised last night it was coming. In the mean time we will make the drive because when it comes to Italian down here on the coast, they simply can't be beat PS, the new flooring was a nice pleasant surprise but I was fine with the worn painted concrete

A locally-owned gem with Southern hospitality and delicious Italian food…read more Having been a fan of this restaurant a few years back, I was excited to try it again after recently moving back to the area. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to visit on a Sunday (they're closed!), I finally made it on a Tuesday evening. I was promptly greeted and seated by the friendly host right as they opened at 5 p.m. Our waitress was welcoming and took our appetizer order right after our drinks. We were debating between the mozzarella sticks and calamari, and she recommended the trio, which included both, plus fried zucchini - a great suggestion! Soon after our appetizer arrived, the owner and chef came to our table to introduce himself and check on our food. It was a nice, personal touch that you don't see very often. While the service was a little on the slower side, it was clear that the small but mighty staff was attentive and making their rounds to all the tables. For our main course, we ordered the chicken parmesan, which was a generous portion, easily shareable for two, and came with a side salad. It was yummy. This restaurant has a certain charm with its combination of Southern hospitality and Italian cuisine. I would recommend it based on my experience. They also have some weekly specials (unsure for how long) : -Wednesday Family Night: Large 3-topping pizza for $11.99 -Thursday Date Night: The $5 corkage fee for BYOB is waived, and they offer a "share a bowl" upgrade for $5.99 (usually $9.99), which gives you two servings of protein instead of one. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that I'm happy to recommend.

Nothing specific, just a lot of little things that kept it from being great. The restaurant was busy, but we got a table with no wait. Our waitress was trying hard but fell short. Watching other servers at the tables around us, I think she was new. Not a huge deal - everybody is a beginner at some point - but it diminishes the overall. The food was good but not great. Perhaps a little pricey, but not extremely so. Some of the old favorite menu items I expected to see were not on the menu, mainly the pasta & sauce & cheese stuff. Baked ziti is a personal favorite, and the only way it was offered was in a combo with other things. No ravioli except the kind stuffed with seafood. The lasagna and spaghetti & meatballs seem tacked on the menu like an afterthought. I didn't see any menu items that I can't get anywhere else. Stiff competition in this category - there are some very good Italian restaurants in Slidell. That said, Joe's definitely has the potential to be a solid 4-stars. It's a new location, maybe it was a bad night, who knows? I will certainly go back and give them another shot, so I recommend them. Go try it and see for yourself.

From what we observed, there appeared to be only two employees trying to do everything--seat guests, take orders, wait tables, and manage other responsibilities. The restaurant seemed clearly understaffed, and while those employees appeared to be doing the best they could, there was very little communication or engagement with customers. It took 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and seated despite no one waiting, followed by another 10 minutes before a table was ready. Once seated, it took another 5-6 minutes to receive water, and after that we simply sat waiting, and waiting, and waiting. We noticed other customers experiencing similar delays, and after receiving little attention or explanation, we decided to leave. No one even came over to ask why. Hopefully this was just an off day for Mangiamo, because good food alone is not enough. Customer service, communication, and proper staffing matter. A simple acknowledgment or an honest explanation goes a long way. Management should ensure they have the resources and oversight necessary to provide the experience customers expect, because first impressions and service are every bit as important as the food.

We tried a Seafood combo #1, which was... surprising. It was a white wine sauce with clams, mussels, and shrimp over angel hair pasta. The surprising part was that it used what was really more of a broth than a sauce. The dish was more like a noodle soup, which was unexpected. The flavor was good though! I wouldn't order it again since I don't usually order pasta expecting a soup, but it wasn't bad! We also got the linguini carbonera. It used ham though; usually, I'd prefer pancetta, but thought I could give it a try anyway. This dish wasn't bad, but it was also a bit disappointing. Using ham for the dish did it the most disservice. Ham doesn't have enough fat content to add flavor to the dish. They also did not use enough aged cheese, instead, they used heavy cream to compensate for it. A lot of restaurants do this to cut down on costs, but it truly affects the quality of the dish. Without enough cheese, the flavor was not deep enough. However, the cream added plenty of richness. We tried the Supreme Pizza. It was good! The crust was perfect, and it was loaded with toppings and mozzerella cheese. A no frills standard pizza!

I ordered the lobster ravioli, which sounded like a life decision I'd brag about later. What arrived was 4 ravioli and 4 small shrimp -- which, in most cultures, is called an appetizer but I might just need to go on a diet. Flavor-wise it was... politely stated..Not bad, just kind of bland. Also the shrimp still had the tails on, so dinner became a part-time job. Nothing says "fine dining" like performing minor seafood surgery in pink sauce while your pasta cools. The wine list was the real plot twist. No rosé. No Sauvignon Blanc. I have never -- and I mean never -- gone to an Italian restaurant and ordered beer out of necessity. Yet here we are. It just didn't feel right. Now, credit where it's due: the garlic bread was actually really good (though I'm pretty sure it didn't grow up in that kitchen), and the limoncello cake -- confirmed not house-made -- was honestly the star of the meal. Service was great, atmosphere was pleasant, and I didn't have a bad time... Three stars: good evening, questionable portion sizing, and a restaurant that accidentally convinced me to drink beer at an Italian restaurant.
