Predatory business practices, I contacted regarding a mini split unit repair. Technician concluded my issue was a refrigerant leak without gauging or weighing any refrigerant levels. Then proceeds to draft an estimate for a nitrogen pressurized test and a full refrigerant refill. I would have had no issues paying for the test if the technician proved my refrigerant was low/empty and confirmed evidence of a leak. Essentially this company wanted me to pay $1200+ worth of tests/refrigerant without any real discernible proof that a leak was actually my problem or if my refrigerant was low/empty. Also the technician came off a bit defensive which made very suspicions of his honesty regarding the work. This service call felt more like a sales pitch an actual diagnostic exam of my issue. Originally I had high hopes for this company and found it very appealing that they are a family owned business. However they seem to operate more like they are owned by an private equity firm that wants to extract as much cash out of me before they actually fix the problem. I am a general contractor and I called R&R out to help me troubleshoot. Why a gas valve on a boiler kept turning off, even though it was a new gas valve and a new thermal couple. Their technician came out and was able to troubleshoot the issue with some advanced tools to check the pressure of the gas valve and identified that there is an issue with the incoming gas pressure. The technician made a recommendation that I replace the gas shut off valve and once I did that the system has been working perfectly ever since. After an initial visit it was determined that I needed a new A/C. I was impressed with the quotes that I received. I was provided with 3 separate options. I also spent time discussing the quotes with Rosa and got honest, upfront answers and comments. The actual service took two days as I went with an entirely new HVAC system. Why is zero not an option? These people are a joke. NEVER hire them!!! I have wasted two full days of my life waiting for a service member to actually just show up and shockingly just do their job. Each appointment there was an excuse as to why they were late or wouldn't make it. I waited an additional 2 weeks between appointments and still no technician. Then the secretary or office manager calls me and gets an attitude with me when I'm hesitant to reschedule. I would NOT recommend this company at all. R & R installed a boiler for me in 2019, replacing one of 2 very old boilers serving different areas of my building. They recently quickly responded when I told them that the other old boiler was not providing heat. They diagnosed the problem (a leaking circulator), and told me they could fix it and get it running, but given its age & the fact that there were some problematic safety issues, which they explained, they suggested a new boiler. When they installed the 2019 boiler, they told me that I could have that new boiler serve the entire building with 2 zones - or I could wait until the other old boiler needed to be replaced and do that then. I considered getting a new boiler, but went with the option of using the 2019 boiler with 2 zones for the different parts of the building. That was about half the cost of a new one. They did the work quickly, cleanly, with no problems. They are responsive, thoroughly professional, knowledgeable and fair cost-wise. I am comforted knowing that I can turn to them if I ever have another need. read more

I had scheduled a maintenance, check on my furnace, on 11/4/21, The technician called to say what time he would arrive. He was right on time. Unfortunately, I can't remember his name. He checked my furnace and said that I should change the filter more often since I have 4 cats and a dog. He said if I didn't the motor would overwork and eventually I would need a new one. I believe he stayed almost an hour. He was very professional, especially for being so young. Also, I liked the fact that they emailed a picture of him before he arrived. I will most definitely call them again if I have any problems and, in the spring, to check out my air conditioner. You can't go wrong using them and their pricing is reasonable. read more

I have been avoiding writing a review of R+R because I feel such tremendous guilt not being able to give them 5 Stars.... The project was the relocation of our Existing Air Handler from one area of our basement to another, while editing some of the existing duct work (primarily our VERY enormous Air Return, which I affectionately referred to as a Sandworm ala Bettlejuice). We contacted 5 HVAC Contractors, including R+R to bid the job (based on Yelp and Angie's List Reviews). I quickly realized why R+R had such high reviews and everyone was stoked on their customer service. I called to schedule an appointment with Rosa who was friendly and helpful. Ramon came, exactly at the scheduled time (with a text notification he was on his way!) and was friendly, personable, and professional. He was very thorough and I felt 100% confident in hiring him and his team to do work in our home. For those curious, of the 5 Contractors we called we received 3 quotes--and R+R's was right in the middle (and from what I could tell, totally worth it). The first day the work was to be done, Mike + Tony (who were equally as professional and friendly) came on time and ready to work. The two day job certainly was not an easy one but these guys stayed in high spirits and reviewed any questions, comments or concerns they had with me as they went along. Overall the project was straightforward and painless for me as a homeowner--almost too good to be true! At the end of the 2nd day (just before 5pm and they had been there since just after 8am) Mike made it clear they had another job to go to. They reviewed a few things with me, told me I could turn the AC back on, and we seemed good to go. In looking around, I noticed a few areas where the ducts had not been sealed (or were missing mastic) and air was leaking pretty significantly. They had me go around all of the ducts and locate any leaks and seal anything I felt was an issue while they were on the phone (presumably with the next client). I was a little concerned about this (since I am not a professional HVAC Contractor) but went with it. The next morning, although the AC was on it was NOT cold. We called R+R and Mike came out pretty soon thereafter. Within minutes he diagnosed that the Motor had died and that it was going to be more money to have it replaced. They were quite insistent that this had nothing to do with the other work they completed and that I was going to have to pay. I was pissed, mostly because now Ramon would not speak to me and instead he and Mike spoke in Spanish on the phone with Mike as the middle man relaying back to me. This was beyond frustrating, but we agreed to a price and they came out and replaced the motor. This was another 1/2 a day job. After they left I was bitter but I thought "OK. Put yourself in this situation as the Contractor. Maybe he's right--he can't control the age or functionality of the existing equipment". OK! I felt better about it and thought I would leave a solid 4 star review. Well....fast forward 10 weeks....and now it doesn't work AGAIN! And this time, the thing that is broken IS something they replaced. I'm so disappointed. As a homeowner it is so hard to find good, quality workmanship. Overall, I was really bummed at the way Ramon handled it. :( read more

CAME THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH!!!! I had this STEAM BOILER that went out on me. So I called a handful of HVAC TECHS and and many of them didn't have a clue on how to repair it and just reccomend replacing the whole thing. When Ramon came out he thoroughly disected the system and gave me a sign of relief when he found a few things wrong that were repairable & a solid cleaning because years of neglect. Unfortunately after the cleaning their were a few more problems that were too risky to repair and might not work. So we eventually switched the whole system to a more sufficient heating system. They got the job done very fast, and correctly and didn't leave the property into a construction site! Rosa the secretary helped educate me on heating systems and debunk all of the myths and false information about heaters, heating systems and helped me make an educated informed decision. I felt very comfortable and informed before I spent one cent with these guys. SO BEFORE YOU THINK ABOUT NOT PAYING FOR THE TECH TO COME. (I have a family member who knows AC problems well and confirmed this was a spot on price for the work done.) The owner is the person who did the work. I like that they didn't send out some newbie tech. They got my AC working again and I am happy. Could I ask for more? Yep, he also helped me hook up my dehumdifier into a drain spout and hoist it onto a high shelf. He didn't charge me - it only took 5 minutes. After reading about this company on Yelp I decided to give them a call to diagnose some A/C issues I had this last July. Tech scheduled a visit (few days later) and informed me that my compressor was shot and would need to be replaced. he even tried several other options to get it started again, but to no avail. The other option was to instead replace the unit, which I went with. The quoted price seemed very fair, and was about half of what a neighbor in my building paid to have theirs replaced. The added cost and complexity of it being a roof mounted unit added less than I expected to the overall price, as it required a crane to deliver it. All in all, I was happy with the experience. The tech that diagnosed and replaced my machine was friendly, thoroughly explained what the issue was/options I had and was respectful in dealing with my neighbors, whos deck he needed to access to get to my condenser. And since I replaced my unit with a newer, more efficient model, my cooling bills dropped significantly. Will definitely use them again for upkeep/maintenance. read more

I originally called upon another service to fix my heater, but they couldn't figure it out. I called R&R and they sent Raul to my house within a few hours that same day. Within a half hour he identified the problem and fixed it. Raul took time to explain the problem with me and even taught me a few other things about my heating system. Working with this company has been nothing but a pleasure. They are easy to contact, have small time windows (2 hours) for when you can expect them, give you a heads up (a phone call and a text) when they are coming, AND have Saturday hours. I called them on a Thursday and was able to schedule someone to come out Saturday morning. (Other HVAC people have strung me along for weeks only to not even show during their scheduled window.) Mike was really nice, walked me through exactly what he was doing, and told me how much it would cost. He was able to fix my AC problem that day and finished it within an hour.
