I received a recommendation for R&R Raingutters from my roofer (whom I love and have used for multiple jobs at multiple different homes. I'll be sure to let him know about this experience.). When I called R &R the first week of September, I was advised that they would have someone come out to give me a bid in about 5 weeks. We had some leaky gutters (joints that needed repair and the like). I crossed it off my list and forgot about it. I realized in late October - with the rainy season bearing down on us - that no one had come out yet. I called in and was told that they had no record of our address. Instead, the woman who answered the phone told me that she would look into it and get back to me. She called me back later that day, leaving a voicemail to the effect that they were not taking any more jobs except emergencies. When I called her back and reminded her about my phone call in early September and the promise of a bid in early October, I got the run around and the promise to get to the bottom of it. I never heard back. I understand that contractors are busy right now but this is disrespectful, rude and just poor customer service. If you are too busy to take my job, tell me at the get go - when I still have the opportunity to hire someone else prior to the rainy season. Now everyone else is also booked and I'm out of luck until spring. So very disappointed. read more

R&R fabricated copper downspout assemblies for me, the price was far less than I thought. I ordered copper beam caps again, the same result. I needed a kitchen vent hood cover from stainless steel. During this process, a dent was put directly in the front on of an expensive Melie kitchen vent hood. Ron purchased a new hood and it was installed flawlessly. He has always been friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I will now order handrails, I expect the same result. read more

I was referred to R&R from our Roofers. We set up a time to take a look at the work and the guy who came out was very friendly and knowledgeable. I got a quote and approved the work. The first gutter they installed was all dented up but they replaced it the next day. Everything else went smoothly until I got the invoice. It was 270.00 more than I was quoted. The girl from the office called me and explained that she made a mistake on the quote and forgot to add 3 downspouts at 90.00 each. She fully admitted her mistake and I hesitantly agreed to pay the extra amount. I was a particularly upset because one of the 3 downspouts was all of 3' long. We had used R & R Raingutters to replace all of the gutters at our last home. They did a great job, on budget (best price), and on time. Loved working with them. Now years later with a different house, we needed many wooden corbels capped to prevent further wood rot. They came out within just a few days, gave a very comprehensive quote with a couple of options, and explained everything. Long story short, they custom made 28 copper covers on site, installed everything in less than 4 hrs, and gave us a beautiful solution to a potentially very costly repair. Has them clean my gutters as they were installing new gutters on flip next door to my house and the guys said that they could see that they needed clearing. So I paid for them to clean gutters, and the rains came and the down spouts were overflowing. I called Them back to ask them why and the office manager said that the work was done 6 months ago (summer) and they would not come and look. So I called them and told the I would pay for this service and the same rude office manager said the estimator would come out to see me for appointment. And that never happened. I understand that people are busy, but you could at least tell me, so I hired someone else, apparently these guys clogged downspouts even more, as I was having problems with spouts that had no trees nearby, so they effectively jammed the spouts that had no problems, and cleared others. On top of that they broke my hose too. Note to business owner, you need new office manager/scheduler. read more

R and R Raingutters returned to our rental on Monday. The wind storm unhinged the raingutters from the roof and they were barely hanging on. I sent a email on Sunday night and had a text response by Monday morning. R and R made arrangements with the renter and was out that morning to reattach the gutter. I reached out to R&R years ago for this installation and super happy we used their services. They came out and reattached the gutter and didn't charge us. That is old fashioned service and is rare to find. I noticed their Yelp reviews have continued to keep clicking away as 5 stars, they really are 10 stars. R&R had plenty of customer calls during a recent period of rain, but they treated our particular problem with understanding and urgency. The customer service experience was fantastic, from delivering a rapid (and very reasonable) quote to scheduling a responsive tech visit to complete the work before the next rains arrived. I just had my house painted and when it was all done we noticed that there was a section of our gutter that was dented. Our painter Alberto Pulido suggested we call R&R. I am posting a review not because I received any type of service from this company, but because I had a very bad experience with one of their employees. I am a resident of Los Angeles county, and am only in the Palo Alto area as my grandson has an unfortunate illness which resulted in his transport here to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. I was in our car with my spouse and our own young son when we were nearly ran off the road close by the hospital. When I saw the vehicle that was responsible for this, I immediately took a photo, and yes, it was bearing the name of this company: a white truck with the license plate 95852R1. The driver of this truck repeatedly cut us off and tried to prevent us from moving into certain lanes. At one point, he was directing us to pull over to the side of the road. He nearly caused an accident, almost rear ended us, and scared my ten-year-old to tears, which is so unlike him. Finally, when the driver noticed that we were taking photos, he backed off, thankfully. Now, I cannot say a thing about the quality of work that this company provides, but just knowing that they have such people working for them makes me NEVER want to find out. Not only did this person act foolishly and recklessly, but did so in the COMPANY CAR!!! Obviously, he has no respect for others, nor the reputation of his employer. What a shame. I would seriously think twice, no, TEN times before choosing to do any kind of business with these people. Please be forewarned. R&R was highly recommended to my general contractor, and basically did everything wrong. So, after the rain gutters were done 2 times and the sheet metal work was redone FOUR times it all came out fine. What a hassle. Sorry for the negative review, but as a designer I work on tons of structures with many general contractors and sub contractors, and every once in awhile someone is great, and someone is less than mediocre stand out in my mind. We needed a custom chimney for our range that would attach to the existing hood and extend all the way up to the ceiling. This area is in the center of our kitchen. Ron came out and measured the space and was able to use stainless steel to where even the grain of the steel matched. I wish I could give these folks six stars. What a wonderful company to do business with and that's because they have great people. R & R replaced our gutters at the rear of our house. We were a bit anxious as we have a very delicate, 45 year old tile roof. Nga, the office manager and her co worker Rachel are excellent; great communications and when they say, "we will call you right back", it means right away. Ryan came out to see the proposed job and is very knowledgeable about roofs, sheet metal, etc. Ryan did a great job of explaining the various options, and the pros and cons of each. This gentleman knows his business and he is such a pleasant guy to talk with. Mark in the office scheduled the work and was very prompt, courteous and helped us work around our schedule. The work was done by Ryan and Adolfo. Beautiful job! When they were done they used a leaf blower to clean up and minor debris that might have been left and walked around our driveway to make sure they did not mistakenly leave any nails or screws on the ground. All the employees we talked with talked about what a great company they worked for and how proud they were to work for a company that takes good care of the customer. We needed new gutters and R & R was recommended to us among others. We received quotes from several companies but decided upon R & R for several reasons. I was impressed with Ron who came out to survey our needs. He told us that our downspouts were just fine and did not need to be replaced, where the other companies told us we had to replace them as well. We decided upon a color from samples, but just make sure we would be happy, he dropped off an actual piece of the gutter so we would be sure with the match. When the workmen came they were neat and efficient. The job was done professionally and in the time they had estimated. At the end they also made sure there were no nails or debris left. Ron had done an expert job of the rainguttters of our rental house in San Carlos. When we moved to our own home in Redwood Shores, he fabricated a beautiful metal board for us to 'house' our enormous travel-magnet collection. Even though the job was small, he gave it all his attention, even helping us get the details of the patina just right. His office staff had all the details of our project down pat when I called which is very reassuring. The work was done on time and in a highly professional manner. Think twice before you consider R&R Raingutters! My unfortunate experience with them has been nothing short of an on going nightmare because of their unethical (do not trust them for you more than likely will come to regret it), illegal (I found out the hard way), dubious (cross reference EVERYTHING R&R Raingutters tells you) and shoddy work, which starts from the owner, Ron, on down to his workers. DO NOT, NOT trust, Ron, the owner. I did and I have had nothing but problems with the work his company did and with Ron's personal credibility, which speaks volumes about his company. As with other reviews posted here, R&R knowingly and deliberately installed damaged gutters and downspouts, damaged my home in the process of installing the gutters and downspouts, abandoned my job unfinished then sent me a bill for a completed job, did a terrible job welding the seams on the gutters (this has been confirmed by more than one other company), and lied, lied, lied, lied, lied amount a number of material legal facts/issues regarding my job. R&R Raingutters does not deserve even one star, but it is my understanding that I have to minimally put that much. It sounds as if the review by Jonathan M., 3/13/2012, echos my experience with R&R. You have to question how many others have had a similar experience and just have not taken/had the time to write a review? Please, if you have used R&R, or do hire them, have another company, either roofing company or gutter company come out to your home to look at the work R&R did. Based on the shoddy work R&R gave me, I am certain that you will be shocked at what you will be told about the quality of work you in reality ended up getting from R&R, contrary to what they led you to believe they gave you. Just ask another company to come out, what have you got to lose, and ask them about the workmanship in the welding, whether or not the gutter is as level as it should be, the angle of the screws used, the distance between the screws used, the type of screws used, the distance between the clips that go inside the gutter, the angle of the clips (big problem issue), if the screw heads should have been calked over by R&R, if the seal that water proofs the metal edge of your roof (gravel stop) to your house was broken when R&R had to lift the it away from the house (it is always broken) so that they could install the new gutter (main reason you will have water problems in the future), have R&R run water in the new gutter to be certain the water is moving as it should (you do not want standing water), check the back side of the gutter to be sure that you have the full height of the gutter on the backside of the gutter as well, you should have, make certain that R&R seals all the vertical seams where the gutter over laps itself (anther major area for potential water leaks). Most importantly, get all of these details in writing. I did not because I trusted R&R, Ron the owner, specifically, and the first rains we had after R&R installed the gutters, I had thousands of dollars in damage to my home. Everything I stated above for a homeowner to look out for, I learned from other gutters companies and roofers after the fact... after I hired R&R and they installed their gutter and downspouts. Everything I mention for a home owner to look out for, all contributed to water leaks I had with the first rains. Please, contact me with any concerns/questions before hiring this company! At any time, I will be happy to show you the shoddy work (what to look for; what not to accept, what they will try and pass as acceptable, etc) this company did on my home before you hire them. read more

R&R did a great job installing raingutters and downspouts on our 100+ year old house. It took a while to schedule the job (it was a very rainy winter, so I'd guess that they had a large number of emergency repairs to do), but everything went smoothly once they came out. Our job was somewhat challenging, given that the house never had gutters and lacked fascia boards. The folks at R&R came up with a creative solution for hangers, and also were attentive to the aesthetics- they were careful about selecting gutter/downspout profiles and placement to match the look of our house.
