Mac fell asleep during one of our sessions and pretended that he didn't. I noticed he wasn't paying attention and I asked "are you sleeping?" No answer, so I repeated the question a couple of times and then tapped his foot with mine and told him he had fallen asleep and he told me he didn't. He also missed the fact that I was undiagnosed bipolar and autistic during years of sessions where he basically instructed me to end relationships with friends and people who were trying their best to support me during my undiagnosed mental illness which ran roughshod over my life after I stopped masking with alcohol. He kept recommending "toast masters" to me as a way to build a social network for myself and seemed very dismissive of me trying more to meet people in communities I was already in and shared interests with. During our last session he basically berated me at the end of a session where I was trying to talk about an abusive domestic situation I was in. He told me it was my fault that my roommate was pressuring me for sex and didn't seem to realize how detrimental it really was that that roommate was posting my personal details and accusations of really heinous things in online communities in order to destroy my social network and leverage power over me. He ended that session by saying "If I hear you getting involved with any of that I am going to smack you" Referring to religious based alcoholic recovers groups which was weird because I brought this up with regards to trying to avoid such groups. and then also saying ominously: "You know how I am going to be if you don't do these things before you come back" referring to looking into some support groups. I don't know what he was going for there, but he sounded like an abusive dad in that session and it wasn't the first or only time, just the one I remember best because that was the moment I knew I had to be out of there. During that same last session he also rolled his eyes when I mentioned pronouns in relation to a trans individual who I know. The sessions I had with him were unproductive. His advice was unhelpful at best and harmful at worst. He was unprofessional and dishonest with me during our time together and what's amazing to me is that after a few months after I stopped seeing him in late summer of 2019 he sent me some email asking me to join his "alignable" network which is like a linkedin type thing, as if that didn't violate doctor patient privilege and sent another one months after I stopped seeing him that was a response to some email I sent him over a year ago at the time he sent it. it was very strange, like he was fishing for another appointment or genuinely confused and not checking the dates on things. I suspect it was fishing for an appointment because the the topic of that email was me asking about appointment availability. 0/10, would not recommend and in fact I think that people should steer clear of this therapist. read more

I beg you, PLEASE read the reviews before considering this therapist. My sentiments are eerily similar to some others. Throughout our sessions, it became abundantly clear that he was not only disinterested but also displayed a complete lack of professionalism. First and foremost, one of the most glaring issues was their constant tendency to fall asleep during our appointments. Can you imagine pouring out your thoughts and emotions, seeking guidance and support, only to find your therapist dozing off in front of you? It made me question whether they genuinely cared about my well-being or if I was merely another appointment to check off their list. It's unacceptable for a professional in the mental health field to display such a lack of engagement and interest. Basic information that I had shared with them previously, such as my family background and past experiences, was forgotten, leading to them asking the same questions over and over again. The last straw was when he charged me $140 for a no-call-no show for an appointment, when in fact, I cancelled the appointment 3 days prior, showed proof, but he refused to give me my money back. He uses an automated system to confirm appointments and 3 days before any appointment, the number texts you, "reply 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel" and if you do not respond to that text, the same number calls you a few hours later saying "please press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel". I picked up the call and canceled the appointment, in that way. When I told Mac, I cancelled the appointment, and showed him a screenshot of that number calling me and me speaking to it for 30s, he legit denied it and acted like the only way to cancel an appointment is through text. I will be sharing screenshots of our conversation as well because it is actually one of the dumbest conversations I've ever had with a "professional". My biggest regret is not cancelling my appointments with him sooner. read more

Going to add my voice to the chorus, please read these reviews before considering interacting with this man at all, let alone seeking him out for care. My social worker helped me report him to the department of health today. This guy managed to be a traumatizing experience without even scheduling an appointment. I was referred to him by the VA choice program, and the fact that this man is being paid by the government to treat veterans is atrocious. Within 5 minutes of our first phone call, not even an appointment just trying to set one up, he had questioned the diagnoses other medical professionals have given me, asserted patently false information about what the DSM says, demanded I divulge my traumas to him, again over the phone without having made an appointment or established care or confidentiality. The first thing he did was ask why I was seeking treatment, which is normal, but when I told him it was for PTSD he instantly demanded to know who diagnosed me and to know what murder I'd witnessed or been threatened with. When I said my PTSD wasn't about a murder, he pushed me to divulge the reasons for my PTSD and told me that childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, and adult rape do not qualify for a PTSD diagnosis. I told him that's not accurate and he yelled at me to read the DSM. I said I have, and that I was going to go with a different therapist, thanks. He did call me back ten minutes later to apologize and say he was wrong, which is nice, but then he still tried to push me to make an appointment with him. Obviously I declined. I'm not going to see someone for PTSD who doesn't know what PTSD is. The only thing he knew about me prior to speaking with me on the phone was my name and that I'm a veteran. And the very first thing he did was try to invalidate the PTSD diagnosis I've received from mental health professionals. Genuinely shocking. It was so far out of left field and so far from the truth that it wasn't even gaslighting, no one could believe that this was correct who has even a layman's understanding of trauma. Truly a horrible and bizarre experience. I wish I'd read these reviews, I just went ahead and contacted him when the VA gave me his number. I'd give zero stars if I could. Mr. Partlow is unprofessional, and lacks any real compassion or empathy. He repeatedly fell asleep during my sessions, and obsessed over a generic " Rules of Fair Fighting" hand out that is easily obtainable via google. There was no real substance to his counseling, and I had to remind him several times on basic information which was mentioned during earlier sessions. He is awkward, and will frequently pause and not speak for several minutes, and I had to use small talk to keep him awake. Did I mention he is at least 15 years older than his picture on his website? There were also two incidents where he had mistakenly scheduled appointments, and threatened to charge a full $120 session to cancel, despite the fact it was due to his error. The worst part of our "counseling" sessions is that he charged my card without my authorization, and without providing any invoices. As a self professed "drunk queen," Mr. Partlow is in not properly equipped to be offering any counseling services, without first attending a psychiatrist himself. read more

He seemed super nice on the phone when I was making an appointment, although I found it odd that he answered his phone during a session... When we arrived, we had to fill out literally 30+ min of redundant paperwork, so our session started super late. When our session began, it was a bunch of small talk and chit chat, which made me anxious because I was ready to start working through some issues. Then he needed to explain how he operates for 10 minutes - yeah, cool, CBT, we get it, can we move on? Nope, not until he quoted a bible verse. It's pretty presumptuous (and ignorant) to assume that Seattleites are all Christians and want to know what the book of James has to say about x, y, or z. Here's the worst part... when it came time for us to share the issues that we wanted to work through, he literally fell asleep. He took an hour+ long nap during our session. When he woke up, he tried to share some weird analogies about feeding sugar beets to horses. This story had absolutely no relevance to anything we were talking about. He clearly heard nothing we said. He is easily the worst therapist I have ever encountered. He should have his license stripped. Please steer clear of this wackadoodle. I had my first session with Mac last week and was warmly welcomed. When we sat down he explained how he works and what his objectives were. He listened very well and gave me great insight! I was nervous to talk to a therapist, call it pride, but Mac made me feel comfortable to open up and allow me to express myself. I've worked with Mac for a few years now and he has been a strong advocate for my self healing. Mac promotes wellness from the interior of those he works with, this means that the healing comes from you the client. The path to wellness is long, its hard and it comes from you! If you enter counseling thinking that someone will heal you, then you will get out what you put in. Mac helped me find my compassionate, coaching and positive voice. For those who have had words of criticism, it is important to find a counseling professional who fits with you, your desired path to wellness and what goals you have set in your journey. I've been going to Mac for about 6 months and he's helped me a great deal. He's brought to light a lot of underlying issues and helped me work out a lot of problems I've had in my relationship. He makes himself available beyond session times and has gone above and beyond to help me when I've needed him. Mac has truly been a blessing for me in my road to recovery. I've met with many mental health professionals in my life, but never before have I met someone that has the perfect balance of empathy but while still challenging one's self to improve. Many psychologists or counselors I have met are quite content to be your "echo" in that they will listen and just repeat what you've said. Even when it comes to matters of self destruction or an eagerness for suicide they don't really seem to care and will just run out the clock. Mac isn't one of those kinds of professionals. If you've come to him for help (as presumably you would) he will do what it takes to help you. That's the key here. YOU have to want to be helped. And Mac will help you find the keys and tools needed to make those changes. I've been seeing him for a little less than a year at this point and already he's helped me overcome some massive obstacles in my soul. Beliefs that have poisoned me since birth now don't seem to make all that much sense. More than once I've broken down crying in his office because of Mac's ability to help me realize what is actually the "truth". It'd be easier for him to just agree with my assertion that "yes, I'm a monster and should be dead", and instead he questions me. Makes me think about exactly why that belief makes sense. It's a difficult process, but a necessary one. My background is one of extreme physical violence and sexual abuse. Mac has always handled these "raw nerves" of topics with care, empathy, kindness, but also with the firm push back that the self-flagellating sometimes require in order to, get this, GET BETTER. He's always been attentive during our sessions, offering his time if I find myself in crisis, and is overall a kind, helpful, and wonderful mental health professional. I saw him for therapy. I went a few times, then he no-showed an appointment without letting me know beforehand. He made an excuse and promised to make it up, so I didn't think much of it. But then he no-showed the make-up appointment too! After that he gave some conflicting and somewhat unbelievable excuses and tried to cast doubt on his responsibility for missing the appointments. It is pretty messed up for a therapist to play mental games with a patient because they won't take responsibility for their actions. I don't recommend seeing him. read more

Was recommended to Partlow for counseling and after the first visit, which I found to be just an OK counseling session on his part, received an email cancelling my next visit from him based on a person I did not know calling him and canceling my appointment. It took two emails from me to re-instate the appointment and when I arrived on the day of the appointment he was not available and said the appointment was for the following day. He did offer me a reduced session but the first 10 minutes were consumed about an insurance issue and payment for services. He clearly said he would not see me unless payment in full was made, yet he had a debit card number on file and did indeed charge for two full sessions after I left. This therapist was very confused and frankly not at all compassionate. Do not recommend for any type of service. read more

All the other one star reviews spell out my exact experience going to therapy with this man. He fell asleep for almost the whole session, would make vague comments that I had literally just finished talking about the exact opposite of what he was saying, gave me papers and book recommendations on relationships and how to work on communication, showed up late and blamed it on traffic. Quite literally the worst experience. At one point in our session I told him a story of how my husband and I met with no comment and at the end of the session he point blank asked me how we met and I looked at him and said "I spent 10 min. talking about this." And he said "oh". Where I preceded to tell him and he had the audacity to say "wow, that sounds magical". Didnt own up to falling asleep. He then pressured me into making another appointment with him and booked a time for me even though I said I wouldn't be able to make it and then called me four times and left me nasty emails and text messages about me no-showing for an appointment that I not only cancelled when I got a confirmation text but also NEVER SCHEDULED. I used Mac as a recommendation through Military One Source for active duty military and it appears he leaches off the tax payer's dollars. I have no doubt he charged the session I "missed". Me and my boyfriend reached out to Mac when we started having trouble in our relationship. He helped us work through issues we could never see eye to eye on. He also helped address underlying issues and differences we had as individuals which helped us create a stronger relationship. He gave us exercises to work on after each session to continue to build on good habits.
