What are worship services like? The pastor will preach a message based on a scripture passage. We pray that God's spirit is at work through the pastor's study and prayerful preparation. I have kids - what is available? Childcare is available for all children preschool and younger who need it, but we recognize that some families might want to keep children with them in church. College away from home, marriage, and children then took up so much of my time that I gave up the practice. But now that everyone in the family is self-sufficient, I began my Anchorage search for where I fit. I tried several denominations as it does not matter which faith with all the same God. I did not return if I was not felt welcome. Five churches later, I found this acceptance at Saint John. Their motto is even "...to be a WELCOMING family joyfully sharing God's light". Parking can be a challenge on Sundays so try to get here early enough. I attended the class following that program. I liked the people and the spiritual philosophy so I started attending the services and taking the classes. The music at the 10:45 Sunday service is outstanding. I get to perform with a professional band everyweek and the songs are very current- no oldy-moldy hymns here. Rev Marquita is totally cool. When I am unable to attend I start to feel sluggish.
