I have been eating at Rachawadee since they opened 12+ years ago. It has around 11 stools and you sit at the counter. Service is fast and the food is the best Thai food I've eaten. There are 2 people helping on the service end. One taking to go orders and the other helping at the counter. There is sometimes a line out the door, but usually don't have to wait too long. By far my favorite Thai restaurant. I've been coming here for years and it has failed to ever disappoint me! I always get the Fresh Rolls and chicken Pad Thai. Finally, a Thai place who knows how to serve up a raging inferno! Upon entering the small, quaint establishment (it's the epitome of a hole-in-the-wall, can accommodate maybe 8-10 people maximum at a single metal counter), I announced to the owner that I needed HOT food, not joking around...I wanted to be crying and sweating. He advised me to start with their 3-star spice rating. I had the phad ba mee (egg noodles stir-fried with cabbage, green onions, carrots, mushrooms, baby corn and celery), which proved to be pleasantly "warm" but by no means tear-inducing. However, my partner sampled it and said it was unbearable. On my second visit, I tried the eggplant dish with steak and upgraded to 5-star spice level. Success! This time I found myself gulping water and feverishly wiping my brow midway through the meal. I would NOT recommend 5-stars to anyone who doesn't thoroughly enjoy the pain of hot chilies. In terms of quality, Rachawadee is my new go-to for Thai food. Everything is made fresh (and so fun to watch being fired in the wok). Years later....we still love the food and the staff!! The only reason for 4stars previously is the seating situation. We can't bring the kids when they're seating indoors otherwise the whole family will take up the whole place and it'll be hard to feed toddlers across the bar stools. So the park near by park helps with that situation. Still the best Pad Thai we've had! We travel all over the US and keep coming back here. The rest of the dishes are flavorful with pretty good portions. They always have enough meats and fresh veggies unlike other restaurants... Oh my, I'll be coming back here A LOT. It's adorable inside but really seats only 8-10 people so unless you come after lunch time on a weekday, best plan on taking it to-go. It's worth it though!! I ordered the KAO SOI but did tofu instead of chicken and rice noodles instead of egg noodles to make it vegan :-) It was amazing and REALLY full of flavor. I did half the spice because I'm a wuss and it was just perfect. Just the right amount of spice for someone who doesn't handle it well. My fiancé ordered the PHAD KEE MAO and he loved it. Today we went to the restaurant before 5 got our seats no problem. Right after that, the restaurant got busy. The phone was ringing which is good for them. However, I was very disappointed with the food and their service. First, they had a kid helps the restaurant which I am fine with it. But the attitude that adult server gave to him was not okay. Because the adult server got annoyed by the kid (the kid is still learning what to do as I see so he is slow) and the server actually put his angry to the customers. He literally slimed the drinks at us and spilled on the table. However, the server didn't care and say anything. My husband was like, wow he is actually mad?!? That was the impression we had. Oh and they didn't give us and the group next to us any straw for the drink (the person next to me was saying, how can we mix our tea?!?) and then the server just threw them at us. Yep! To us all. Second, I ordered my always dish and today the dish had no flavor except the spiciness (like always). I had to use salt which has never happened. I wonder if they forgot to put soy sauce in?!? But of course, I didn't ask because literally the server is not happy and they are extremely busy. I just took it as what it was. I get it, they get busy. But with your big talk of we wanna make food tastes good, and want to take caring of each customer is not happening here. I am actually not sure I want to eat there anymore. Delicious lunch, long wait, but worth it! Small restaurant with hour long wait times, you can order ahead but it sounds like an hour pick up wait time as well. They keep things moving and very friendly and pleasant. I ordered the Garlic Sauce with Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai-both great. The iced Thai coffee was good but on sweet side. Hot! Fresh! Some of the best Thai food I have had in a long while. The place is very tiny, about eight bar stools. This place is the real example of a whole in the wall. You sit literally in the kitchen and watch all the action behind the counter. They opened at 5 pm, we got their at 4:59 and the place was almost full with occupied stool and people waiting for to-go orders. They turn the stools quick and do a brisk to-go business. Friendly, quick and very organized. Saved the best for last, the food! We ordered three dishes, a wide rice noodle, fresh rolls and curry. All we delicious. The fresh rolls were fluffy, tight and filled with vegetables and had a crisp crunch and served with a light sweet sauce., not the orange stuff. The curry was smooth, creamy and filled with crisp, not over cooked veggies. Wide rice noodles were my favorite all dishes were excellent, but these were my favorite. We sat next to to a woman who said this was her favorite Thai place and the man next to her was a fan as well. What a cool restaurant, right next to a river park. We had a few dishes - pud Thai, Tom yum soup and a spring roll. They ask how much heat and you'd better take them seriously when they tell you their chilis are on the hot side! Yowzer!! I usually ask for a 1-2 heat. The guy recommended I try 1/2. We went on a Thursday afternoon around 1:15 and had no problem getting seated but I can imagine this place gets crazy during the lunch rush (the to-go orders were constant). My favorites were the pad kee mao and the tom kha soup. And yes, their star rating scale for spicy is pretty intense, if you're used to medium (probably a 3 at most restaurants) I would steer you to 1 star here. Seriously. Fantastic Thai food. Just need help on the service and quality control side. My receipt said brown rice - which is what I ordered with my cashew chicken - but the bag had no rice in it. They just forgot it. Which sucks as I drive down from Bellingham to get this and didn't discover it until I got back, and opened my dinner, 30 min away. Be aware. You'll want to open your food in front of them so they don't leave something critical out that you paid for. This is my third time eating there. Really good food.
