Place was busy and easily seated in the bar area which is probably a little louder but it was ok with us. MY brother ordered the Meaty Meaty - he doesnt like a lot of cheese so having a lot of toppings means less cheese. We ordered the Hot Italian. Pizzas came out in relative short order and I immediately noticed our pizza was wrong. I pointed out that we didnt have hot red peppers and basil but instead we had green peppers. I dont eat green peppers as they dont sit well with me. I mentioned to my husband and he also noted as did my brothers family that this was wrong. When the waiter eventually returned - we told him we had the wrong pizza. He indicated that he saw it looked different when he brought it out and perhaps the kitchen just subbed out the peppers. I stated That is fine to do - if you check with the consumer first as i dont eat nor like green peppers. And sure i can pick them off but the ratio of peppers to sausage was more than 2-1 and left gaping holes. Waiter left and soon a manager returned. She told me that they buy both red and green hot cherry peppers and thats what this was and left. Sigh. Waiter came back and said we would get 20% off bill and was All ok then. I didnt care at that point. There is no such thing as a hot green cherry pepper - except it is green before it turns red. We also didnt have the basil as the description stated. I was not impressed with the pizza at all - ans then particularly not impressed that they couldnt just be honest that they messed up. I understand mistakes - just own it! Not going back at this point

When I first reviewed this Downtown Roanoke Restaurant, I focused on their drinks and food. But…read morethis time around I couldn't help it to discover why this place is the center of Roanoke's night life. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. I arrived on a Thursday evening with a 6:15pm reservation which I'm glad I had made because later I found out that this place gets to be a full house on Thursdays. A young lady host greeted and welcomed me at the Host's station as soon as I arrived. She checked my reservation and had my table all ready for me. Located in the middle of this very popular Restaurant Bar, gave me a nice view of the entire place, and with a light high above I had a perfect lighting to photograph my drink and food as part of my review of the place. My server Jillian arrived soon after I was seated. She had a wonderful personality and welcomed me with a friendly smile and very pleasant attitude. After answering me some questions about their Mocktails, I ended up ordering their Raspberry Burro. For dinner I ordered their BBQ Bacon Chicken Kababs with a side of their special fries and a salad. While I was waiting for my food to arrive I observed the place quickly filling up and I found out that tonight was Music Bingo and Live Music at 9:30pm with no cover charge. It brought me back to my college days in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the night life was a thing to look forward to. Suddenly I discovered the key of Martin's popularity and the important role it plays in contributing to making the City of Roanoke a Star City indeed. I enjoyed my drink and the Chicken Kababs with the side of special fries were amazingly delicious, as well as the salad. They have a good variety of quality items on their menu and their chefs amazingly deliver. I invite you to read my first review where I celebrate their Cuban Sandwich and Slaw, and view my photographs that accompany my review. What a night. Besides the food, I enjoyed playing the Music Bingo, which one of the card titles was The 1970's. One of the best years of my life, when I attended High School in San Juan, Puerto Rico and College in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. During that time I also won a Saltwater Fishing Tournament at the young age of 17 by catching a 405 pound Blue Marlin off the coast of Isla Verde, Puerto Rico. It was the best of times for me. My server Jillian provided exceptional customer service, checking on me at the appropriate times. For dessert I ordered their Glazed Doughnut Bread Pudding, and it was so good, I can't wait to return to have it again. What an extraordinary dining experience I had that night. I highly recommend this restaurant and bar for when you feel like having a good time, alone or with family and good friends. I promise you will be able to sabor what a Five Star review is all about, and experience for yourselves why Martin's is one of the City of Roanoke's most precious gems.

Best. Dang. BBQ…read more After living north of the Mason-Dixon Line for the past three years, I've been craving some true Southern comfort food. I stopped here on my way to Lexington, and O. M. G.--this place exceeded every expectation. The brisket was unbelievably tender and practically melted in my mouth. All four barbecue sauces were delicious, but the Kansas City sauce was my absolute favorite. The mac and cheese and potato salad tasted like the kind of homemade sides you'd find at a Texas backyard barbecue. They were the perfect complement to the meal. And don't even get me started on the pecan pie--it is an absolute must-try! It was rich, sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. I joked that I was going to slip into a sugar coma after finishing it, but it was worth every bite. If you're looking for authentic, mouthwatering BBQ with incredible sides and desserts, do yourself a favor and stop here. You won't regret it!

Food is delicious, and from memory I want to say my order was less than $12. You can order from the kiosk if you like. I prefer it. They have combos and family packs and single items and that whole place smelled terrific! I had just been hiking. I was starving! I ordered 1 fried chicken breast, 1 Mac and cheese. 1 baked beans. 1 onion rings. 1 Dr. Pepper. I dont even care...it was SO good!! I would most definitely come back! I most definitely recommend!
