Our auto loan is with this credit union; we do not do any other banking with them. I tried multiple ways to enroll in online payment but could not link my account so I had to mail checks to pay the bill. We've had no issues with that, until recently when they did not process a check timely (which was mailed to them on time). Once again I tried to see if I could setup an online payment link but could not. So I called their customer service only to have to go through another process to setup verification questions. Then was finally told they could not help me with the website but everything looked great on their end for a transfer! There is no option on my end to transfer them any money though! Oh, and I was told I could pay by debit card over the phone, with an additional fee and it was recommended that I put a stop pay on the check that wasn't yet cashed even though they had no way to notate my account NOT to cash that check (if they received it late) and if they did end up cashing it I would of course be charged a returned check fee! Been a member for 20+ years. They took $15.00 out of my savings. I asked why. They said they mailed me something and the USPS returned it so I got fined $15.00. I had absolutely NOTHING to do with this yet got fined $15.00. This is nothing but a SCAM and they STOLE MONEY FROM ME. read more

Since they have change over to the new Radiant name, I have consistently had issues. They randomly locked my card had to make several phone calls and then 3 days later it a as fixed. They tbey locked my online access through their app and now it's a holiday weekend and I have been able to get in touch with anyone to help. So if there is any issue what so ever keep during the week between the hours of 9-4, because there is ZERO customer service available. Its sad because I loved Sunstate before. read more

Once again SunState Federal Credit Union has won me back to a 5 star rating! I went in to arrange financing for a car for my wife and the process was easier than I expected, especially since the purchase was through a private seller. Ryan Peeples was very knowledgeable and helpful, my expectations were exceeded rather than met. Meeting expectations is a recipe for disaster in my opinion, I wish more businesses could grasp that concept as well as under promise & over deliver. Above all don't lie to me, assume I don't know what's going on, & I'll never be upset if someone doesn't know the answer to a question (as long as they don't make up an answer). I have been with SUNSTATE since college in the 1980s,never an issue, always helpful, always responsive. Those days are over folks. I had fradulent activity on my card, cancelled it over the phone. I went in the bank IN PERSON and ordered a new card. It will take 7-10 days which is very inconvenient. I wait 10 days, no card. I call and get a customer service rep (not local) who says the reason I did not get the card is because IT WAS NEVER ORDERED AND THERE ARE NO NOTES OF MY VISIT. I talk to the local branch manager Caleb who apologizes but cannot do anything, cannot expedite the card, cannot waive the 47 dollar fee to expedite the card, cannot retrain the rep who did not do her job. I now get to wait 7-10 more days without my card. I WILL BE CLOSING MY CHECKING,MY SAVINGS AND MY BUSINESS ACCOUNTS ASAP.This is not customer service by any stretch. The least that could be done is have that rep, who screwed up, call me personally and apologize. ****I have to say that directly after this review I was contacted by the VP of member experience. They are printing me a new card and he is personally delivering it to my house! His name is Taylor Murray. This has renewed my trust in the organization and their responsiveness. As stated previously, I have been with the same bank for literally over 40 years. I hope the the name change will not affect the customer service. They are liars, tell you anything to sign up then do the opposite, example if you are a member 90 days you don't have to wait when you deposit check. We have waited multiple times and we have been a member for over year they keep trying to hold checks. Today I went to deposit a $7000 from a huge RV dealer and they told me because it was in my name and my boyfriend said it was a third-party check and they would charge me a fee besides having to wait, this is highway robbery, I would not recommend this Credit union to anyone, if it was not the only bank in town I would have stopped doing business a long time ago read more

I was recently in a very bad accident and sadly my truck was totaled.I had moved my previous truck loan to radiant for a better interest rate.Josh and his staff went above and beyond to help me secure a new truck for my Patriot service dog Freedom and I .I was recovering from injuries received in the accident and was very overwhelmed but they helped to make the process easy to navigate.I highly recommend Radiant Credit Union. read more

This is my third review of this bank first it started very well , I told everyone about my good service, my military and church community and family, friends. I was reported 30 days late on a loan payment which went against my credit score . The bank fixed the mistake once I showed my payment and they call or sent something to the credit bureau my score went back up to 700. In November they said I was late again 30 days and it went against my credit my score dropped to 667 . I found out every time I make a payment for the full amount of my loan . They take late charges out of my payments. Which explains why I was 30 days late on my loan . I didn't not know that . I am a disabled combat veteran. Sometimes I do pay my loan after the loan date and will pay the 20 late charge if something comes up . They never sent a letter or notified me of this but , I should have read the small print . I have caught up my loan which was behind because of 40 dollar late . I ask serval times to speak to a manager to call and I left two reviews. The owner want respond unless a person leave a good review. I am moving both of my loans to vystar bank and paying less interest and they don't take money from your payments . Super helpful staff at our local Jonesville Office. UNFORTUNATELY really poor after hours customer service, as in: if it is not M-F/9-5 when you need to resolve an issue, you are out of luck. There are no options. None. Zero. Nobody is available online, on the phone, or in any bank office. I find this ludicrous in an age when many, many, many! of us bank from home at our convenience and that means evenings and weekends. read more

I was at Wells Fargo bank and they made me so upset my hands were shaking from their bureaucratic Orwellian rules. I needed a medallion stamp on a piece of paper. They said I had to get original death certificate. After 12 days I came back and then they wanted papers that didn't exist, They wouldn't let me use their fax machine to get the papers that don't exist, etc. I had been a customer for almost three years. After two weeks I gave up and went to Sunstate Federal Credit Union, opened an account and they took care of the stamp in 10 minutes. The art on the walls were all from a local nature photographer and supporting good causes in the community and area. The people were friendly and smiling. I am so happy I switched banks! Free checks, no fees. I'm embarrassed that I was ever at Wells Fargo to begin with. read more

Go elsewhere. There are a couple of really efficient and customer friendly credit unions here and around Gainesville. Avoid this one. I was making regular payments to my Sunstate account and they credited my payments to the wrong account. After several calls I finally got it straight but not with any intuitive help from their collections department. Then they had the nerve to submit a lousy review of my account to the credit bureaus in an attempt to ruin my credit. My personal banker, Jonathan, left them and it seems that the commitment to customer service has again gone in the tank. Avoid this credit union and find another. read more

Banks have always intimidated me, and my track record with them hasn't been pleasant. I just couldn't adjust to fees for everything they did for my account.. Prior to Sunstate I had considered Bed-banking, because that's how discouraged I was with traditional banks. They're just not small-account friendly. I've been banking with Sunstate since 1994. I cannot believe how customer-oriented the organization as a whole is. Whichever branch I visit I get great customer service. I don't even have to be a baller to be valuable to them. USAA is much better. I was with Sunstate for 6 years, but they have several issues they need to work on before I will use them again. 1. They charged me a "incorrect mail fee" when the post office messed up. 2. For 8 weeks they were depositing money ($50) from another members account to mine. This was happening while I was on unemployment and I thought the deposits were uneploymnet payments. Untill on day they took the whole amount ( without letting me know) out of my checking, messing my account for weeks causing me to spend my valuable time trying to clean their mess up. I can't imagine how much aggrevation the other member ( losing the $50 a week from their account) went through. USAA is much better. read more

Their customer service is well below par. If you need help with anything that does not involve a teller, you have to "sign-in" on a piece of paper and just wait there for someone to come look at it. I've been banking at credit unions in another state for over a decade, due to the high quality service I usually receive. It seems that SunState does not hold the same priorities. Even when I've literally been the only customer in the entire building, I've had to wait over 15 minutes just to talk with someone. On top of that, even though I only use it for a savings account, I will look and find that they have taken money out for random "fees." I had a fee the other day for "returned mail!" I didn't request any mail nor did they notify me that any was coming or that there was a $15 fee for returned mail.... I am taking my money out (once the hold comes off my check... UGH they put holds even on small checks) and moving to another bank. Definitely would not recommend Sunstate ever. read more

I've been doing business with Sunstate since 1999 and they have progressively gotten worse and worse. The nickel and diming is unbelievable. Today after being hit with a $15 fee for returned mail (which is strange since everything I've done with them is online) I decided enough is enough. Also the worst possible customer service and wait times are at the down town branch. If you go to the 43rd street branch the customer service and wait times are tremendously better. On the whole though they stink. Which is sad because I prefer to do business with local businesses. Oh well. read more

Thought I would have a better experience with a credit union than with one of the big banks. I was wrong! First, the Internet banking does not reflect balances for charges that are up to 3 days old. Paid $180 ($45 NSF fee wow!) for a $12 mistake because of their inaccurate app (all the while having money in a personal account to cover any overages). Absolutely no understanding from this bank, we were told to keep a register. Lesson learned! read more

Last year I went through Sunstate and got approved loan to purchase a vehicle at Select Motor dealership. It was the easiest and best car purchase ever. Sunstate has picked the best dealership in Gainesville to partner up with. They don't have all of the extra fee and very good pricing.
