They have absolutely everything in this store. I'm a comic book enthusiast, so the comic book section excited me a bit. Unfortunately, the majority of their comics are wrapped in plastic so free loading in the store is out of the question (darn!). If you're into the more Asian side of comics, they have a pretty good manga section too with all the essentials (maybe missing a lot of the obscure mangas, but Minotaur is a good place to start if you're just getting into it). They also have a wide collection of films, posters, books, shirts, and even games and toys. There are random knick-knacks too so it is always fun to come in and just take a look around even if you aren't purchasing anything. Cute things I have found: a stuffed animal of the pig TonTon from Naruto, SuperMario Brothers Mushroom Backpack, Star Trek Bobbleheads, Hello Kitty Monopoly, and multi-coloured Domos! 2 stars off because the prices are pretty steep... but even if you aren't purchasing anything, I would recommend you stopping by just to take a look around.

Shop For Me is a strange little toy store at the top end of Lygon St. They run an online store and…read moreit looks like the shop is an extension of this, and with their opening hours, it seems to be more of a side business. They're only open after 5pm a couple of nights during the week, then most of the day on weekends, but their hours seem to be more of a rough guide than anything set in stone. Most of the products you will find in Shop For Me are Lego sets. They have a wide range of sets, including a lot of sets that are usually quite hard to find in stores outside of online stores. They also let you trade the blind-packed Lego Minifigures here, which is great, as anyone who collects them will know how often you end up with a double. Unfortunately they've changed the way they let you trade from being able to swap any old figures to only letting you swap doubles that you receive if you open the packs in-store. The Minifigure packs vary in price depending on who serves you, but if you buy a few they'll usually work out cheaper than anywhere else. They also sell some older loose figures at a higher price, depending on their rarity, and have a couple of discount bins selling cheaper Lego sets. Apart from Lego you can also find a few other collectable figures and statues (mostly superhero and sci-fi stuff) scattered around the front room. Once you head into the dimly lit back room you can find much of the same, with some quite big (and expensive!) statues. They also have a table set up with some larger Lego sets built for display on it. There is coffee on offer here, which I have never been tempted to try, and they do some deals with coffee and Lego at a discounted price. The staff here are friendly and really know their stuff too and are big kids helping other big kids spend their big kid money. You won't find many cheap options here, but the hard to find items definitely make it worth stopping in.

Danger danger!!…read more Abort abort! ALIENS APPROACHING!!! Okay, so there's no aliens but your wallet is in serious danger of being assaulted here. This is one of my favourite Gorman stores in Melbourne. The range is pretty much the same as everywhere else but it stands out as one of the better ones for a few good reasons. 1 - it's big, with a huge change room area that feels a little more discreet at the back of the store, meaning you can come in and out of the change room and strut your stuff in front of the mirror. 2 - it seems to attract a really fun clientele who are all happy to comment on each others outfits and give advice and compliments whilst doing said strutting. 3 - the staff! They are my main reason for coming to the Windsor store. I love that they remember me, know what shapes suit my body and love playing dress up with me. Lucy and Julia are terrific and are exactly the kind of sales assistant you want - they always ask what I "need" in my wardrobe and are great at suggesting I try different combinations and things "just for fun" rather than with a focus on having me spend more than I intend to. Love love love.

The designs and colours suit almost anyone, from the younger crowd to the more mature of us ladies! Featuring lots of bold colours and prints, some daring moves also, like patterned ankle socks with clog type heels... would not suit me, but if you can get away with it, do it for sure. Their pieces are fairly pricey but they are absolute classics and will be staples in your fashion collection for years to come. There is nothing not to love. When my friend and I went in, we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who were happy to go above an beyond in finding an outfit that we would be happy with. Pulling out belts from here, socks and shoes from there... etc. You'll soon be addicted, too! x

Okay, I had been past here a couple of times, but had never had the desire, or the time, to pop in and have a look around. Anyway, like a lot of gaming shops, the focus these days tends to be Euro-games and card games, however they do have a small collection of roleplaying games, but the collection is somewhat smallish. However, they also have gaming rooms, and on top of the gaming events, they also have some special nights, including a caberet night, which I have to admit is pretty cool.

They immediately pointed it out to me and took me through the different editions of the game (Australian, American, British) and I quickly made a purchase. I was in and out in just a few minutes - that is efficient customer service! You will also find games including Warhammer, Star Wars Rebellion, Game of Thrones - everything you could imagine. Also, Gatekeeper Games also regularly holds gaming nights - so if you in the market to make new friends and play fun games, you now know where to head.

Though, I could technically write this off as research since I work in the toy industry, it's not that at all. Most Toyworld stores seem to be quite small and cramped with stuff spilling off the shelf and making it hard to move around. The Brunswick store is far from this. It's quite large and everything is nice and neat and spaced out. Everything is in it's own little section and there is a great variety of toys to be found here. They have a nice selection of Playmobil products, which is great as it is rare to find this stuff in Australia from what I've seen. Usually my first visit section in any toy store is the action figures, but here it was almost non-existent. They were on the ends of a few aisles and in a few other spots but they didn't have much of a choice. Everything that was here seemed fairly new though which is a good thing as action figures tend to hang around on the shelf well past when they are the latest thing. I may have caught them on a bad day (Sunday afternoon) but customer service didn't seem high on the agenda. A couple of younger employees were working and I was the only one in the store and went largely ignored by them. I actually had to go and find one of them when I wanted to make a purchase as nobody was anywhere near the counter/front of store. There's a good range here though, with some toys you might not see anywhere else so it's well worth a pop in to stock up on kid's birthday pressies, Christmas...or if you're like me, a treat for yourself.

An excellent toy clearance warehouse…read more This place is fantastic, from their great layout to their abundant stock of every kind of toy imaginable, from current to past season stock at heavily discount prices. The large warehouse is stocked to the roof along its walls with everything from baby toys to puzzles and board games to play gym slides. Many trestle tables and dump bins fill the floor. There is so much to look at and all with handy price stickers attached to the items. The store has an indoor trolley rack (you will need a trolley) and there is enough room to push a stroller around. The warehouse isn't heated, except for what looks like an airplane engine, blowing blue fire towards the cashier. Which is good for them, because it feels almost colder inside the building that out. Do not underestimate the vastness of this place, you could easily spend an hour here, so maybe rug up? All in all, this is an excellent store. I love it and I couldn't find fault if I tried. Just the best assortment of toys, so long as you aren't looking for the newest range (although sometimes they are here too, hard to guess). A godsend for busy parents, because it's all in one place and well laid out and well priced. Check it out, you will not be disappointed...(Game of Thrones Monopoly, come on, who doesn't want that!!!??)

When I went back to let them know that something I…read morehad bought was faulty their response was that other customers had told them but that they continued to sell them because "some are, some aren't". They said that they often have other products that are faulty and that they can't open every box to test them all. If they know that something they are selling is faulty or potentially faulty then it is against consumer law to continue to sell it without informing the customer of this risk. This is a shell organisation without any proper management to contact. Avoid them at all costs.
