As far as I could tell, this is considered the "Best" hotel in Turku. That's not saying a whole lot, since Turku is, as a Finnish guy warned us, the armpit of Finland. Well okay, maybe not bad, but it's not exactly a tourist hotspot.
The Radisson however is a decent place. I ordinarily boycott them for their sleep number beds, but in Finland they have memory foam mattresses (finally a good night's sleep!), and an entire MENU for different types of comforters and pillows. I can't even begin to explain how excited I was about that.
My husband swears I'm obsessed with pillows. I'm that person who calls down to reception to request not one or two more pillows, but four. Or more, if the room only provided two thin ones. So I nearly lost it with joy when I discovered the "pillow menu". I ordered the memory foam one, the cool one, the fluffy one, and the thick one. I also ordered the cooling comforter, since I've been eyeing those for a while at Costco (you know, they have those blue tiny gel bubbles). I felt pretty bad for the girl who had to bring it all up, but I tipped her well and put all the covers and such on them myself (they came new in a plastic bag, so she offered to put the pillow cases on them for me).
In the end, I didn't like any of the pillows except the ones that came with the room, but I always enjoy sleeping in a pile of pillows, even if they're not all great for my neck, so it was all good.
We didn't make use of anything else in the hotel, but we had a great night's sleep, and I got to try a LOT of different pillows.
PS: Those cooling ones feel cooler for the first twenty minutes, but then they heat up to body temperature and actually feel slightly hotter than other pillows/comforters because the plastic doesn't breathe as well as down. I'd never buy them, but am glad I got to try them. read more
